Roberta's POV

The house was quiet when we got back.

Brett opened the door. He stepped aside to let me in first. I walked into the living room and stood there. Everything looked the same. The couch. The pictures on the wall. It felt like I had never left. It felt like I had been gone for years.

"Are you okay?" he asked.

I nodded. I didn't trust my voice.

He walked me to my room. The same one I had left earlier that night. The bed was still unmade. I had been ready to walk away from all of this.

  • HIS FORSAKEN WIFE HIS GREATEST REGRET    My Lovesick CEO

Roberta's POV I felt it too. The pull. The want. The way my body was still humming from him. I could feel the wetness pooling between my thighs again, the ache of wanting him inside me. I want him again. I want him so badly it's ridiculous. It's embarrassing how much I want this. How much I want him. Brett's thumb traced my jawline. His eyes were dark. Heavy. The look in his eyes said the same thing mine probably did. We both wanted it. His thumb brushed my lower lip. “You have no idea how badly I want to take you again,” he said, voice low and rough. “But I’m not trying to wear you out. You’ve had a long day. You need to rest.” I opened my mouth to protest. Who says I want to rest? The thought was immediate and embarrassing. I wanted him inside me again so much it felt almost ridiculous. After everything—the fighting, the jealousy, the years that had gone past—my body still craved him like it had been waiting eight years for this exact night. The intensity of it made my cheek

  • HIS FORSAKEN WIFE HIS GREATEST REGRET    You're Mine Now

Roberta's POV I lay in his arms, the sheets tangled around us like a secret we weren’t ready to share with the world. My body was still humming. Every nerve ending felt alive, every place he had touched me still tingling, warm and sensitive, as if his hands had left invisible brands beneath my skin. I could feel the slow, steady rise and fall of his chest under my cheek, the quiet strength of the arm draped around my waist, holding me like he was afraid I might vanish if he loosened his grip even a little. Brett shifted beside me. His hand slid lower, palm settling possessively at the curve of my hip, and he pulled me closer until there was no space left between us. His lips found my shoulder—soft, warm, lingering. He kissed my shoulder again, slower this time, then pulled back just enough to look at me. “I’ll be right back,” he said. I watched him rise from the bed naked. The low light caught his silhouette—broad shoulders, the powerful line of his back, the way the muscles s

  • HIS FORSAKEN WIFE HIS GREATEST REGRET    Eight Years Ago

Roberta's POV I followed him up the stairs with my heart in my throat. His hand never left mine. The house was quiet in the way it only ever was at this hour — the kind of quiet that made every step feel louder than it should. When we reached his bedroom, he didn’t turn on the light. He just closed the door behind us and stood there looking at me like he still couldn’t quite believe I had said yes. “Roberta.” My name in that voice did something dangerous to my knees. He stepped closer. His hands came up to frame my face again, the same way they had downstairs, but this time, there was no space left for conversation. He kissed me slow and deep, like he was trying to rewrite every silence he had ever given me. I opened for him without hesitation. My fingers found the buttons of his shirt and started working them open, clumsy with how much I wanted him. When the last button gave, I pushed the fabric off his shoulders and finally, finally put my hands on his bare skin. He made a lo

  • HIS FORSAKEN WIFE HIS GREATEST REGRET    Stay With Me Tonight

Brett's POV The sound cracked through the car like a gunshot. I stared at my own hand, breathing hard. “Sorry,” I said immediately, quieter. “That wasn’t— I’m not angry at you. I’m just—” I pressed both hands flat against my thighs, trying to ground myself. “I can’t unsee it. I keep seeing his hands on you. Your fingers on his face. The way you kissed him like you were trying to feel something. And it is eating me alive.” The silence that followed was thick enough to drown in. Neither of us moved. I looked at her. She looked at me. The space between us felt charged and fragile. Her eyes were tired and red-rimmed, still carrying the faint shine of unshed tears. Mine must have looked the same—raw, unguarded, full of the image I couldn’t scrub out of my head. We just sat there, staring, both of us hurting in the quiet, both of us knowing the other was hurting too. I wanted to reach for her. I wanted to say something that would make the pain in her expression ease. I want

  • HIS FORSAKEN WIFE HIS GREATEST REGRET    Because I Love You

Brett's POV “Because I love you.” The words tore out of me before I finished deciding to say them. I sat in the silence that followed, heart slamming so hard I could feel it in my throat. The car suddenly felt too small. Too quiet. Too full of everything I had been choking on for days. Then I said it again, slower, like I needed to feel the shape of the truth in my own mouth. “I love you.” My voice came out rough. “I can’t think. I can’t focus. I sit in meetings, and I’m not even there. I come home, and you’re in the next room, and my whole body just—stops. Like it’s waiting for permission to breathe again.” I pressed the heel of my hand hard against my jaw, trying to hold myself together. “My whole body has refused to function properly ever since—" I stopped. She was looking at me. “Ever since what?” she asked, quiet. I stared at the wheel. The leather was still warm from my grip. I couldn't say it. “Brett.” Her voice softened, but it didn’t let me go. “Ever since you felt

  • HIS FORSAKEN WIFE HIS GREATEST REGRET    The Kiss That Broke Him

Brett POVI walked further in. My eyes moved over the crowd. The bar. The tables. The dance floor that wasn’t really a dance floor—just a small cleared space near the speakers where people were swaying too close. Then I saw them. Ethan was facing me. His hands were on her waist—firm, proprietary, the way a man holds something he thinks he has permission to touch. She was facing away from me. Her head was tilted back. She was laughing. That soft, rare laugh I hadn’t heard in weeks. He was leaning close to her. His face was close to hers. Too close. Ethan. I felt something snap inside me. Something primal. Something I couldn’t control and no longer wanted to. Ethan stopped moving. His eyes met mine across the crowded room. His face changed. He looked like a man who had been caught doing something he shouldn’t—and knew exactly how high the cost might be. Roberta turned. She saw me. Her eyes were heavy. Her cheeks were flushed. Her smile was loose. She was drunk. Very drunk. Th
