SEBASTIAN'S POV

"...Dave Filler, all the way from Puwak City,"

These words sailed into my ears, my breath hitching with disbelief as I locked eyes with Dave, who mirrored my shocked expression.

The silence that ensued after that statement was deafening, to the point it even got Chris darting his gaze between us in confusion as he sensed something was off.

I broke the silence eventually, realizing this wasn't a dream but in fact reality. Dave was really in my office as the promising investor/client my company had secured in my absence. I was disappointed, not going to lie.

"You've got to be fucking kidding me!" I dragged out, my gaze fixated on Dave, whose brows were furrowed in a deep frown. "Dave?" I questioned with bewilderment.

"You." He muttered, with familiarity laden in his tone. Color had drained from his face due to shock.

I wasn't the only one who caught the familiarity in his tone; Chris did as well, compelling him to inquire in confusion.

DAVE'S POV"... Only then will I see you qualified enough to become an investor in my company,"A painful constriction gripped my chest, more like a cut to my ego as I processed Sebastian's ultimatum. Was I surprised he would do this? Hell no. I had always known he was an arrogant and ruthless bastard who liked to trample on people. I hadn't anticipated less, nor had I even expected more from him than this.It took a while before I reeled from surprise. I chuckled, lowering my gaze as I pondered my thoughts. I needed to play this card right. I was certain he already believed I was the one who needed him and not the other way round. And it was true. I needed him. As a matter of fact, I was really determined to get this contract. However, I didn't want to appear so desperate. I had to think this through carefully if I ever wanted to have the upper hand in any of this. Finally lifting my eyes to match his after a brief contemplation, I replied, my tone unwavering. "You want me to give up

DAVE'S POV Some days back, my assistant had informed me of the newly launched multi-billion dollar brand in Clasold City, where every investor around the world was trying to secure a spot with them. I was a businessman, and as such, I also wanted to invest revenue in the promising brand. I had my own selfish interest regarding that.Even though I had been reluctant to admit it until now, my business was failing. Sales weren't coming as they used to. There was too much competition in the market, and it was difficult to get a hold of potential clients nowadays, considering my products and services were everywhere. I hadn't told Kristine about this. I didn't want her to feel perturbed, especially now that her crazily wealthy, billionaire ex had suddenly returned, chasing after her. I didn't want her to perceive me as a worthless boyfriend who wouldn't stand up to her ex or her, as a matter of fact. I needed to get my finances back on track. Only then would I be able to match up to her

SEBASTIAN'S POVI couldn't believe my ears. I could believe I was actually listening to her spew nonsense. "What?" I spluttered again, my astonishment palpable. Lydia's eyes never left mine as she continued undeterred. "Let me help, Seb. That's all I ask. At least, give me a chance to atone for my mistakes. I swear I'll make it up to you."Oh, now I see what this was about. She was begging me for a second chance. This was merely a ploy to get back together with me. Eventually, I reeled from shock and chuckled mirthlessly. "You know, I never took you for a clown until now," I said to her, scoffing incredulously afterward. The amusement in my expression soon faltered as I said to her icily. "Get out," "Just hear me out, Seb, please," She implored."Get out of my office, Lydia, before I call security on you." I barked. She implored as she reached for her bag, pausing in the process. "Hold on, before I leave, can I ask you something?" her tone was soft and polite, rendering me speechl

SEBASTIAN'S POV.The door to my office swung open shortly after I pressed the intercom button. My face was expressionless as I kept my gaze fixated on the door, anticipating whoever it was. The door pushed further open as a pair of tanned legs stepped into the office. My eyes strayed from the toes of that person to their head. However, my insides bubbled with intense annoyance as I realized who it was. To my utmost despair and utter displeasure, it was the one woman I never wanted to have anything to do with again in this life— Lydia Walker. My demeanor shifted instantly as l locked eyes with her as she now approached my corner after closing the door behind her gently. Her hips swayed with effort as she catwalked towards me in the sky-blue bodycon dress that accentuated her curves I no longer found attractive. Her long fiery red hair was bouncing behind her effortlessly, adding more to her beauty, again I still didn't find her attractive. My annoyance grew, my patience flaring as I

SEBASTIAN'S POV; The following day.I was seated behind the mahogany desk in my luxurious office at Weston's Corp, reviewing the prior sales report this sunny afternoon. I was rechecking the reports to uncover where the little complication that had arisen had stemmed from.My expression was neutral, my gaze intently focused on what I was doing. However, just three hours into navigating my way through the computer before me, I expelled a deep sigh. A sigh of exhaustion, cause I was damn tired. I still couldn't figure out where the errors came from, and knowing I needed to discover it before I could return to Kristine and my child, my patience flared.I was annoyed. Frustrated and disappointed with my staff for not being competent enough. I fucking trusted and left them with this before I traveled out. It hadn't even been a month, and everything was starting to go down the drain. Exhaling exasperatedly, I massaged my throbbing temples, trying to ignore the anger bubbling within me. I

SEBASTIAN'S I was rendered speechless for a moment as I absorbed the news Grandfather had just broken to me. An arranged marriage with the Douglas family. I was to marry their spoiled heiress, Dahlia Douglas. I didn't know much about her, but I've heard of her before now. Rumors about her had circulated in my company some time ago that she was having an affair with two brothers at the same time. The rumors had been dispelled after she publicly announced that she wasn't seeing anyone, but she was just business partners with the two brothers. Not that that was any of my concerns, but now, after what Grandfather had just told me, I knew I couldn't accept her. Dahlia was a notorious bitch, one I wouldn't want to ever get involved with."What do you say, my dear?" My mother's voice resonated in my ears, pulling me from my trance. "Do you agree with your grandfather's wishes?"Her orbs were soft, as mine matched hers. I was at a loss for words, my head shaken with conflicting thoughts. Ev

SEBASTIAN'S POV My jaws clenched tightly, annoyance dancing in my orbs as I glared daggers at Jamie. I wanted to retort, but I was cut off by my grandfather's icy command."Enough!" His voice sliced through the tension, causing a sigh to escape my nostrils as I looked away from Jamie."That's enough, Jamie and Sebastian," Grandfather added, his tone filled with disappointment as he reprimanded Jamie and I. I could see he was upset. He hated it whenever we had an argument, especially in his presence, as he felt it was enormous disrespect. "Apologies, Father," Jamie's baritone voice resonated throughout the dining hall as he apologized.Reluctantly, I did the same. I apologized to Grandfather for causing a nuisance."It's fine," He dismissed us with a wave of the hand. "Now, back to what I was saying just now," he started again, turning to face me with a serious expression. Our eyes matched, but I didn't flinch despite his intense gaze."You need to remarry, Sebastian. You need an hei

SEBASTIAN'S POV I walked into the gigantic yet cozy mansion my Grandfather called his paradise. This particular house had been listed among the top biggest and most expensive mansions in the City. The interiors alone cost billions. To think my Grandfather lived there alone with his numerous servants. The whole family only gathered together here whenever Grandfather had summoned us for dinner, and we dared not decline his invitation. There was always a price to pay for disobedience. His sole aim was to make us all united in peace, however, that was impossible considering the hidden resentment most of us harbored towards each other in the family.Speaking of resentment, as I hugged my mother, who had approached me to welcome me home, my eyes caught the animosity-filled look in my eldest brother's emerald orbs as he stared at me from the dining table.I didn't flinch as we locked eyes. I merely averted my gaze as I pulled out of the embrace with my mother."Oh, my sweet boy," Melissa S
