KRISTINE'S POV

My heart slammed in my chest as I watched them approach us.

Just then, I caught Cassidy's comments.

"Their resemblance is remarkable. Unreal. Are you sure your genes even tried to claim her?" she asked, and I couldn't help but scoff at her ridiculous question, even though deep down I knew it was facts. Mia looked far too much like Sebastian, and it felt so unfair, especially since I was the one who had carried her for nine months, while he had... Done nothing. He missed her very first words and her initial steps.

It was almost unbelievable to remember that Mia's first word had been "Daddy." I recalled the dismayed looks Amelia and I exchanged that day; I even tried to encourage Mia to call me instead. But she didn't. It took a while before she started referring to me as Mommy. I was heartbroken, but there was nothing I could do about it.

Hooked back to the present by the familiar scent of his cologne, I realized he was already in front of me, holding Mia in his arms. S

  • HIS REGRET; Chasing back his rejected ex-wife    054 ~ The Breakup

KRISTINE'S POV.My already fragile world collapsed completely as his icy words reached my ears. It hit me fully; Dave was done with me. I needed no soothsayer to spell it out for me."Both?" I choked out over the phone. "Really, Dave? What did I do to deserve this? Why won't you talk to me or see me? If I messed up, just tell me already. We're adults and a couple, remember? Please don't put me through this." But his reply was cold and emotionless. "I seriously can't deal with this right now, Kristine."My heart squeezed with despair. "What are you trying to say? That I don’t deserve to know why you've suddenly turned away from me?" I quipped, my voice rising slightly."I'm ending this call, Kristine. I'm busy today and really can't deal with this." He stated calmly.A sharp pain pierced my heart, and I felt a tightness in my throat. He spoke as if he were the only one with a business to run. What about me? I had driven all the way here because I wanted to resolve our issues. I had le

  • HIS REGRET; Chasing back his rejected ex-wife    053 ~ Pushing her away

KRISTINE'S POVAfter dropping Mia off at school that Monday morning, I considered stopping by Dave’s office for an unannounced visit. It had been two weeks since I last heard from him, and I was starting to feel anxious. I couldn't deny it, despite the distance between us, I still missed him. But that wasn't the only reason I wanted to see him— I needed clarity on the questions that had been plaguing my mind since Sebastian made those comments two days ago. I still couldn’t wrap my head around any of it. Still couldn't understand what could have led to Sebastian’s accusations against Dave, especially since he had also insisted that Dave stay away from our child. What the fuck exactly happened in Clasold City? I had tried to figure it out on my own during the weekend but it was a futile attempt. Nothing significant crossed my mind. However, I was determined to find out today. I had given Dave plenty of space, but now it was time for him to confront the situation and explain what was

  • HIS REGRET; Chasing back his rejected ex-wife    052 ~ One-sided story

KRISTINE'S POVI've been itching the moment Sebastian arrived at the park hours ago, to ask him the question that's been plaguing my mind all week. It's more like confronting him personally about what happened with Dave in Clasold City. I wanted him to tell me himself so I could yell at him and tell him to back off from my relationship. However, I couldn't make that move as he was far too preoccupied with assisting our daughter in building her sand castle. I also hesitated because I didn't want to spoil the happy moment; I knew that if I initiated that conversation, it would likely end with Sebastian leaving the park, and I didn’t want to ruin the day for my daughter. Hence, I had refrained from confronting him.Now that we were home and Mia was sound asleep in his arms, I considered surprising him by telling him that I was aware of what transpired between him and Dave in Clasold City. I wanted to make sure he understood that I was not oblivious to the fact that he had given an ultim

  • HIS REGRET; Chasing back his rejected ex-wife    051 ~ The ideal family?

SEBASTIAN'S POVBeing right here with them, playing in the sand with our daughter while occasionally stealing glances at her goddess mother beside me, filled my heart with so much warmth. It felt almost surreal like I was in a dream that was too perfect to be real. But the beautiful thing was that it wasn't a dream; it was indeed reality.Even though Kristine seemed too difficult and indifferent to please, her presence also filled me with immense joy. This was everything I had ever wanted—a beautiful family moment, just the three of us in our little paradise at the park. I finally understood what it meant to have a family of my own.Just five days ago, Mia had excitedly suggested we visit the park on Saturday, inviting me to join her and her mom. I seized the opportunity almost immediately, promising her I would be there. Now, here I was indeed, I felt it was the best decision I could have made—worth even the important work meeting I had to cancel for this thrilling experience since i

  • HIS REGRET; Chasing back his rejected ex-wife    050 ~ What it felt like

KRISTINE's POV "Get over here, mi vida."For some reason, I found those words extremely hot. Perhaps it was the way he had said them, with such a gravelly voice. Maybe, or maybe it was just something else entirely and I was being delusional.Nonetheless, I felt an irresistible urge to get up, as if I had been compelled by his command. Or maybe it could have just been because of my daughter, who was eagerly beckoning me to join them by the swing. Her genial grin was too adorable to ignore, and I certainly didn’t want to dampen her spirits by ignoring her invitation. Hence, I rose from where I sat and made my way towards them.As I approached them, I deliberately avoided his gaze, focusing on my daughter instead, who was now sprinting toward me."Mama!" She called out, leaping into my arms as I bent down to her level. My heart fluttered with delight. Stroking her hair fondly, I beamed at her. "Are you having a good time, sweetie?"She nodded vigorously, her enthusiasm contagious. "Yes,
