Victoria's POV

After I ended my conversation with Jane through the mind link, I sat in the car to think for a while. I needed some minutes to get my heart and mind together. I had heard a lot from both Lord Bernard and Jane. Lord Bernard wanted me to end things with Derrick so that I would be with him. That sounded very ridiculous because Derrick had been nothing but good to me.

He had been the best. I felt incredibly guilty about what I had done and said behind his back. I felt like the worst person to walk on the earth's surface. The guilt of what I had done was weighing heavy on my chest, and it was making it greatly difficult to breathe.

I opened my car door and started walking towards the house entrance. I was thinking about the things that Jane had told me, too. She was a great friend, but at this point, I was not sure if I wanted to listen to what she had told me. She asked me to tell Derrick what I had done with Lord Bernard, but I could not.
