LOGINChapter 6
Mummy, Look! we found Daddy~ Cassandra The plane rolled into the airport and few minutes later, we were in the car. My kids were exhausted and none were saying anything. Maybe, the wanted to see their Aunty Bianca more than anything. "Kids, would you like to go to the park with me when mummy goes for the meeting?" My secretary asked, looking back at them from the front seat. "We're not kids, Aunty May." Alessio said, glancing at Bianca. "Well, Bianca can go, but certainly not me. I also have a meeting with Lorenzo this afternoon." Alessio said, scrolling through his iPad. "Uhm, Lorenzo? The President's Son? What kind of meeting do you have with him?" I questioned, knowing Alessio and his manners towards things of public... Leave it to my Alessio to make me feel like a kid. Sometimes, I wonder who he takes after and then recall he has a father and maybe, his father is as grumpy as him. "I want to know why the costs of goods keeps inflating and why the Station at Romirez has not been rebuilt into something more approachable." He answered, giving me a business like look. Whether rebuilt or not, who would love to approach a prison yard. I nodded, making no comment as to not prolong the matter. The car pulled over at a huge building, and with May's help, they all stepped down. "Take them up and tell Bianca I'll be back. I have to meet up with someone concerning the Matia building." I said and she nodded. The Matia building has been on my mind for a long time. If I have to take a step on my game to win the war I'm about to begin, I needed something to beat them with and I have to start with something they badly want but cannot get. When I left New York three years ago to Italy, I was devastated. Bianca helped me all through the way till I could stand to my feet. I picked up my phone, dialing the manager's phone number. "Is it ready?" I asked. "Yes, Mrs. Estella. Everything has been summed up and the only thing left is your signature. We're sorry for making you wait and we'll take extra measures to see to it that everything will be according to your taste." The manager said. "Good. Thank you too, Mr. George. Remember what we discussed about?" "Yes, ma'am. The owner of the Matia building is an Italian by name Ms Harriett and we've never seen her before." I smiled at his response. "I'll see you soon. Thank you." I ended the call, staring at the picture frame that sat on the other seat of the car. It was a picture perfect frame of some people I once considered family. People I had tried so hard to please, just to get them to love me but all they wanted was fame and wealth and I was the key to everything. Well, I learnt my lesson the hard way. I was too naive, too innocent to realize that I was being used like a child. Thinking about those times and they decisions I made then, riles me up every goddamn minute of my life but thinking about the excruciating pain I'm about to unleash on my enemies brings a certain amount of comfort and soothe to my broken heart. "We're here, ma'am." I thank my driver and stepped down from the car. I'm escorted to the tenth floor of the building by the assistant manager, who pleads that the manager has been cooped in his office for another business deal. I take in the surrounding of my new company. My first work here in New York is to make sure this building right here, generates a total amount of fifteen billion this year to cover up for it's payment, it's advertisement and it's funds. I have great plans for this building. "Good day, Ms Harriett." The manager greets as he moved closer. I smiled at the man in his mid fifties. "The document is ready?" "Yes, ma. Come sign the papers right away. We cleared some procedures and it wouldn't take much of your time.Tim, get the lady coffee." "No, do not worry. I won't be staying for long and moreover, if the second building is up, I'll be taking it." "The second building is more expensive and complicated for now." "Forget about it's expensiveness, why do you think it's complicated?" I asked. The manager took the seat opposite mine and took a deep breath before taking a document out of the drawer. "It was Madame Opehlia's last will that the second building be sold to a couple. The building was built by her husband for her as a wedding gift. She did everything for that building, Ms Harriett." I never thought some people still help onto those kinds of things even now in this modern world. That means I'll have to get married. Even though it's a small party, I just have to get married so as to secure the building. "And can you secure the building for me? I'll be getting married soon and I'll like to take it. We're good business partner, Mr Diego. You wouldn't want our six months of building down the drain, yes?" I cocked a brow, sparing him a glance before dropping the file that was neatly tucked into the envelope. "I can never try to cut ties with you, Ms Harriett. I shall see to it that the building is kept for you. I'll need your signature though. But the building shall only be kept for eight months. Her will was to make sure it was sold before New Year." He gave me a Stern 'no going back look' and I nodded. Few minutes later and I was done with everything I had to do. The drive to Bianca's was quick and I stepped out of the car with the help of the driver. The lobby of Bianca's company was busy but there was no way I'd never spot my three little troubles from across the room. Alessio and Ethan were seated beside a man and the very same man held Bianca, and she was talking to him and kissing his cheek? I rushed to the scene. "Children?" I called. My children knew not to mingle with strangers. I had told them several times. Strangers were not to be trusted. I've had my fair share of my betrayers from people I considered family..talk more of a stranger! The stranger looked up and I felt my breath race. if beautiful were to be a human. He was fucking beautiful, handsome was an understatement. His beautiful dark hair, his blue intense eyes and the glare that he sent my way, made me stumble back. My little boy spoke. "Mummy Look! We found Daddy!" TBCCHAPTER FOURTEEN The Arrangement~Cassandra "Maybe we should talk."There was silence on the other end of the phone for a few seconds before Damien finally answered. "Okay, but it'll be tomorrow. I'm preoccupied at the moment." "Tomorrow?"Dang it! I wanted to talk right now. The need to blurt everything out at once was burning its way up my throat."Yes.""But I need to talk about this now.""You're the one who took your time calling me."I frowned even though he couldn't see me. "I didn't take my time and why wouldn't I think about it...you just offered to be a husband for hire. Anyone would be cautious about why a powerful man like yourself would put yourself out there like that...no offence." "None taken, but you did take your time. If a stranger were to offer the same thing. Wouldn't you take it the moment it was offered?" I glared at the phone as though he could see me."How would you know?""Because I know you."I almost laugh
CHAPTER THIRTEEN Beg~Cassandra I stared at Bianca, my eyes bulging as she disclosed what we termed a secret a few minutes ago."Excuse me?""I said she's looking for a husband." She replied casually, and I almost choked. "Bianca!" I nudged her arm, and she only shrugged. "What? It's true."I looked at Damien, and the worst part was that he wasn't laughing. He was staring at me with those deep blue eyes, looking as though he was actually considering what she'd just said.I cleared my throat. "It's not exactly like that.""Then what is it like?" Damien asked, his eyes on me now.It was one thing to speak with him without his eyes on me, and then another to speak with those eyes fixated on me.It made me... nervous, though I wouldn't say it out loud.I looked at him. "I need a husband temporarily. That's all."Bianca nodded beside me. "Exactly, and we're looking for prospects, in case you have someone in mind." I glared at her,
Chapter 12 Husband For Hire~Cassandra I pushed the file aside and signed my name on the lease contract."Is everything set?" I asked.Mr Shaw placed the file into the box before dropping another one onto my table for me to sign."Everything should be set. I’ll check with the decorators, and we received another shipment of supplies from Milan this morning. It won’t take long before our rivals start sniffing under our skirts."I laughed out loud."They shouldn’t. But make sure no one knows where it comes from. I spoke with Wren, and she’s cool with it."Mr Shaw nodded.Alessio, Ethan, and Bianca had decided to spend the whole week with their father. I was jealous at first, but then… it felt good knowing they had someone other than me.Closing the deal on the building I needed to acquire was only five steps away.I needed a husband.A husband for hire.Bianca had helped me screen a few men, and we would be meeting them today.I d
Chapter 11 Waves~CassandraI should have said no. The moment Damien mentioned a small gathering at his beach house and casually invited the triplets and me, I should have said no.But somehow, here I was. Standing in front of a house so massive it looked like it belonged in magazines, with the ocean stretching endlessly behind it.The triplets came down from the car with their little backpack strapped on their back.I was doing this only for the children. I mean...my kids love their father, so coming here would only make them happy. So why do I feel as though I could hear my heart beating in my chest?"Damn, he's so fucking rich. The tabloids got their facts wrong. Cause if this is a small Beach house, I'm wondering how the big one will be like." Bianca commented on the view."Or are you sure we're at the right address?" "He's a Billionaire, Bianca. This should fit his net worth just fine." I said, ignoring her exaggerated
Chapter 10 Investor~CassandraVeloura Jewel, Beads and Fabrics was fast developing, and I couldn't be prouder. It was mind-blowing, knowing all these are a product of my hard work.Mr Shaw released the pin, and I smiled at the beautiful artwork I'd been embroidering since morning. This would be our new release to the public, and I needed it to be perfect. It's a blue Barbie-style dress, fitted at the bodice with a smooth satin sheen, hugs the waist before flaring into a soft, layered tulle skirt. The fabric is a pastel sky-blue, light and dreamy, with a subtle shimmer that catches the light when you move the embroidery. Thin straps sit neatly on the shoulders, and the neckline curves gently into a soft heart shape. The skirt falls in airy waves, almost floating, giving it a playful, princess-like feel, elegant but still youthful and enchanting. It feels amazing knowing I embroidered this in a few hours.I've always had t
Chapter 9 Fun Day Out With Papa~Cassandra The company I acquired here in New York was doing well. A good manager was all it took to put my work on solid ground, and Mr Shaw was the finest, most perfect manager one could ever wish for. The man was perfect in every way, and I was glad I met him that day at the airport.I glanced at my laptop once again and sighed."Are you sure this isn’t some scam?" I asked again, squinting at the laptop as Bianca increased the brightness. She had given herself a one-week rest from her company, and it seemed my house was the best place to crash for a week, not that I was complaining; I missed her so much.Bianca rolled her eyes so hard I thought they might fall out."For the tenth time, Cassandra, no. Big investors don’t send scams through registered law firms.""They don't, right? But they certainly don't use anonymous until they meet with the owner."I narrowed my eyes at the email again, my fin
Chapter 7 Every~CassandraThere are times I think life was meant to be unfair. If everything was fine and daisy, there would be no hell for people who had deranged thoughts in their mind and sickling unquenchable thirst for power and more
