CHAPTER 12

Nicole

The next morning, I lay awake in my bed as I watched the sunlight seeped through the curtain,  casting a bright golden glow in the room.

I didn't get much sleep last night because every time I closed my eyes, replays of sienna electrocuting and slapping me jolted me awake.

I sat up on the bed and after a minute, I slowly stood up and pulled aside the long curtains and the glaring sunlight blinded my vision.

I gazed down below and noticed a group of men walking towards the house with sniper rifles hanging off their arms.

Two other guys stood by the main gates guarding it. I sighed and went through the bathroom and washed my face, then I used the new toothbrush I found in one of the drawers. I dried my face with a clean face towel hanging by the side and then ran my fingers through my hair to straightened it.

I heard a knock coming from the bedroom door and I yelled for the person to come in. Sofia appeared by the bathroom doorway wearing short shorts and a small black tank top with a denim jacket.

"Morning." She chirped happily and i walked passed her.

"Morning yourself." I muttered back while flopping down on the bed.

"Breakfast is ready downstairs so lets go. Oh and I also want to introduce you to the inner gang." I arched a brow.

"Inner gang?" She nods while sitting on the edge of the bed right next to me.

"Yep. Don't worry they're not assholes like my brother, you'll like them."

"Who's them? And whats a inner gang?" She turned to face me.

"An inner gang, is a group of people part of the inner circle and works closely with my brother. They have bigger responsibilities then any other gang members in my brothers mafia." I slowly nodded in understanding.

I still don't get whats the big deal with this people. I've heard of Mafia's and gang leaders who are the most dangerous people in the world, and now I'm living in a house full of them.

"Is it really necessary for me to meet them? I mean I'm not really that important around here to meet any of them, I'm still the enemy remember?" She chuckled.

"I know. But I want you to meet them. Now cmon." She pulled my hand while standing up and I reluctantly stood up along with her.

"Does your brother even want me to step out of this room?" She rolled her eyes at me.

"Don't worry about him. He's the one who told me that I'm the one in charge of you. Now lets go downstairs to get some breakfast." She opened my bedroom door and closing the door behind me with her hand tightly hooked around mine.

She led me through the hallways and greeting people along the way while I bowed my head down whenever they looked at me with strange expressions on their faces.

"How many people live here?" She cast a glance in my direction.

"Just the inner gang which only includes 5 people. The others are just here if my brother wants to meet them or talk to them. The rest of the gang members lives in their own houses but they all meet up here to get ready for missions or meetings." She explained while we turned to a corner and started walking down the glass staircase.

I was struck with awe the minute I glanced around the gigantic room and took note of how huge this place really is.

"Whoa. This place is amazing." Sofia smiled at me.

After we descended the stairs she immediately leads me to a huge room where a long wooden table piled with food is sat up.

My mouth forms a perfect 'o' when I stared at the delicious looking breakfast buffet on the table.

"This is not actually our dining room, that's just the buffet table." She stated while pulling me to the side of the table.

Buffet table? They eat in buffet style every morning? Whoa..

She grabbed a plate and handed it over to me while grabbing another one which she starts filling up with food.

I placed some strawberry pancakes on my plate and pour the maple syrup over it. Once I'm done, I followed Sofia out of the room till we walked in on another room where a round glass table is sat up on the corner in front of a rectangle glass window that overlooks the big swimming pool outside.

I stopped walking when I noticed who was already sitting at the table, and it was none other then the don himself with another guy sitting next to him who was also in the cell that day.

"Hey guys, mind if we join you?" Sofia asked happily while sitting in front of the guy with black raven hair and they both looked up in surprise when they saw me.

"Sofia, what is the meaning of this? Why is she here roaming my house as if she lives here?" Shane growled angrily while Sofia glared at him.

"We've talked about this Shane! I'm in charge of taking care of her and I'm not you okay? She might be a prisoner to you well not to me. Come Nicole, sit next to me." Sofia said while turning to face me.

"You both do realize that I'm standing right here right? I can literally hear everything you just said." I said while sitting down next to Sofia.

"I don't wanna see her around here anymore, do you understand me? She's our enemy and she's supposed to be locked up in her room!" Shane said again while glaring at Sofia.

"Hello? Still here remember?" I piped up and he shot daggers at me.

"I'm not talking to you! So shut the fuck up." I glared at him and shifted my gaze to my food.

"When I said for you to be in charge of looking after her, I meant for you to lock her up in her room and watch her every moves making sure that she doesn't do anything stupid, not show her around the house as if she's our fucking house guest!" He yelled.

I rolled my eyes while forking up a piece of pancake and popped it in my mouth. I glanced up and saw the guy sitting in front of Sofia, smiled lazily at me and I raised a perfectly plucked brow at him.

"Yeah I do get that, now can you stop being such an ass and let me do what I think is right for me to do. Her father is the person you wanted to kill, not her." Sofia argued back and I watched them bicker back and forth with interest.

"Well she's going to be next, and you bringing her out here is just asking for me to give her an early funeral, so stop testing my patience if you don't want that to happen because she's still useful to us." Shane stood up while knocking over the chair behind him.

"I don't want to see her face around here or you'll get it from me Sofia and I mean it." He stormed out of the room leaving us to stare after him.

What an asshole!

"Sorry about that Nicole. Don't worry, I'll talk to him later." I shook my head at her.

"No he's right. I shouldn't have agreed to come out of the room so I should go back." I said while standing up but she pulled me back down to sit.

"No don't, he's just being an ass. Lets eat and I'll introduce you to the inner gang soon after this." She said with a small smile on her face.

"And one of them is sitting right in front of you." The guy finally spoke up and we both turned to look at him.

"Oh my god Cameron! I totally forgot you were here!" Sofia cried out while laughing along with the guy who's name is Cameron.

"I was here all along." He turned to face me.

"Hey, I'm Cameron, you can call me cam." He said while sticking out his hand for a handshake. I shook his hand while casting a small smile at him.

"Nicole." He nods at me and lets go of my hand.

"I've heard. So what are you guys doing right now? Introducing the inner gang to her?" He asked Sofia who nods excitedly.

"Yep. Cameron is my brothers third in command and his hacker." Sofia informed while looking at me.

"And his best friend by heart. He doesn't show it, but he knows it." Cameron added while Sofia scoffed.

"Yeah right." I chuckled while sipping my coffee.

"Of course he doesn't show it. The only thing he shows around here is that ugly scowl on his face that may look scary to others but I personally think he looks like a toddler whose throwing a fit on Christmas while receiving the present he doesn't want." Cameron burst out laughing while Sofia stared at me with her mouth opened.

"I like her." Cameron states while wagging his finger at me.

"Yeah well Shane is not usually like that, when you get to know him I'm sure you'll like him." I scoffed at Sofia.

"Like him? I'll rather commit suicide then admit that I like that asshole. I hate him and his guts and the fact that he runs this place like some powerful being like he think he is-"

"He is powerful." Cameron cuts in and I narrowed my eyes at him.

"Whatever. The longer I'm being kept here the more I despise that guys face and everything about him." I continued and Cameron leaned over the table and smirked at me.

"Whats there to despise about his face? You're not even gonna admit that our boss is hot and handsome like me?" I rolled my eyes.

"Nope not at all. But you on the other hand, the only thing attractive about you is your gorgeous grey blue eyes. Like seriously are those for real or just fake lenses?" He chuckled at me.

"They're real sweet cheeks. Apparently, Sofia has an obsession with them." We both turned to look at Sofia who snapped her eyes at us and her face immediately flushed.

"No I don't!" She argued back defensively.

We both burst out laughing. After breakfast, Sofia and I walked back to my room when we ran into another guy along the way that Sofia knows.

He has dirty blond hair that's in a buzz cut and gorgeous light blue eyes. He's definitely good looking with his 5 o'clock shadow.

"Jackson you're back!" Sofia exclaimed.

"Yeah just got back at 5am this morning. Whose this?" He asked while quickly checking me out.

"Oh this is Nicole, I'm sure you've heard about her from Shane." He nods.

"Yeah I've heard. Hey I'm Jackson." I shook his outstretched hand.

"Nice running into you." He chuckled while glancing back at Sofia.

"You too. Okay I better check up on Cameron and sienna, I'll see you both around." He said while walking past us. Well he seems nice enough.

"Well there you go. You've met the inner gang." I frowned.

"I thought you said there were five of them?" She smiled at me.

"Yeah, you've met Cameron, and now Jackson who's my brothers second in command who just got back from his mission from LA, and me, I'm only part of my brother's inner gang because I'm his little sister and his only family, and you've met sienna already, I'm sure you don't wanna meet with her again and do a formal introduction which I'm pretty sure will end up badly, and then Shane. Well, he doesn't count cos he's our boss and the don of the mafia." She explained.

I nod my head while processing what she just said in my head.

"What does slutty sienna do?" She giggled at the nickname I've sat up for her.

"What she's good at obviously. Opening up her legs for our targets as a distraction. She's a baiter, that's her job." I chuckled in disbelief while she opened up my bedroom door for me.

"I have to go have that "talk" with Shane. I'll check up on you later okay? You sure you're gonna be alright?" I nodded while rolling my eyes at her.

"Of course mom, I'm not five." She playfully glared at me and closed the door behind me once I walked in.

Well that went well.
