“I PROMISE IT WOULDN’T HURT”

HANDS on her side she looked towards the bush where the beast was waiting, she inhaled deeply and opened the driver’s door, leaning over to the next seat she pulled open the glove compartment and dug through. Rambling about, her hands wandered through the compartment aimlessly. She paused pulling out a silver pendant by its rope, she smiled and lifted it into view, it had the form of a Cupid pointing its arrow I’m the air, his right eye closed and tongue sticking out in aim. It danced around as she held it up, she was using this on the wolf, shoving the papers that had spilled from the compartment back inside, she stuck her hand to the back of the car feeling for a first aid kit. “Got it” she heaved.

Slamming the door shut, she powerwalked over to the bushes, it seemed the bird had returned, it was hovering over the bush protectively. Iva-Lois assumed it was out for the beast's corpse, she squat down at his feet and clutched the pendant in her hand. The beast groggily adjusted, his vertigo visible to them both, he had lost a large amount of blood. After a terse observation, Iva looked at her kit dismissively and removed its cover.

“First” she declared trying to hide her wobbly tone, she pulled out a bottle and a wrapped plastic. “I need to hand you some painkillers, vitamins, antibiotics…” The wolf stared at her arm and sneered.

“I won’t be needing those”. The dead and hoarse sound of his voice made her shudder, she fell back on her heels and added some steel to her back, ignoring him.

“Of course you do, you’ve lost so much blood…you need to gain some strength, I could roast that bird up there for you it’s…” he growled angrily at her causing her to flinch, she clutched the bottle in her hands and stared at the beast.

“Get that bottle away from me!” he warned and Iva frowned at him, there was no way he knew what was in the bottle, she had done well to hide the label with her hand and it was too dark to see a thing.

“It's just antibiotics…” she gasped inserting a syringe into it, “, I promise it wouldn’t hurt” The bird made a warning screech and Iva's eye flew up to it and back at the wolf. The Werewolf had sometimes between these moments, gathered enough strength to grab her throat. Letting go of the vail and syringe, she grabbed his arm with both hands and struggled for air. “Let me go” she cried and choked, the beast squeezed harder and tears began to stream down her face in pain.

“I am not stupid human, I know exactly what is in that vial and I’m going to kill you for trying to decieved me”. Iva's eye bulged as instinct kicked in, she yanked out the Cupid pendant and slapped it in his good arm with blind faith. His arm faltered a bit and she used the opportunity to grab the syringe and jab it into his arm. He moaned moving away from her thereby releasing her neck. Having a little while to cough and gasp for air, she grabbed the bottle and injected the syringe back into the bottle, she watched him as she prepared to douse him with another. The bird cries and moves down to attack her, knocking the syringe from her hands.

“Ah!” Iva yelps as she waded it away with whatever she took from the floor. She searched blindly for the syringe, one arm evading the bird's claws, and then a sharp sting followed by cool crimson pooled on her arm, she didn’t have the time to observed her wound before the next attack came at her. She turned away to avoid the attack and in turn inflicted her left shoulder blade with another claw mark.

Tears welled in her eyes as she tried to crawl away with her one good arm, the beast grabbed her calf, arm digging into her poor flesh, she couldn’t help but scream, he pulled her closer and she squeezed the syringe in her arm before springing up with a twist to get his face in view, the syringe met with his neck and the beast moaned again punching her with an unimaginable force that caused her flying some feet’s from the bush. She turned facing the bush in pain and used her good arm to pull out her gun, the bird ran straight for her and she shot at it, it evaded the bullet leaving Iva dumbfounded before clawing at her skull.

She struggled with the bird before breaking his right-wing and flinging it into a bush at the right, it screamed in pain it almost destroyed her eardrum, she felt the beast's reaction to the bird's scream. But that was all, heaving, she cautiously approached the bush where the beast was beat, pointing a gun at him, she yanked out her cuffs and had them on his wrist weakening the already wary werewolf.

She placed the pendant over him and resumed treating him.

Later in the night, she turned to her watch reading 1:13 AM, her arms cocked she looked to the night sky, she had as well treated her wound, she was shocked at the imaginably deep cuts across her arm that she had tolerated. She looked at the beast leaning at the side of the truck, she had the Jeep parked beside the bush and had managed to pull the beast over there, every movement opening the wound in her calf.

The back doors were open and she’d have to pull him in, He was pretty heavy and she was down on one good arm. She reared herself into motion and went to the other side of the door, she struggled herself to get him on the back seat and this took another 40 minutes of yelling and pulling. Giving out on the last pull, she slammed the door and limped over to the other side, slamming that door.

Iva looks around the space, she couldn’t take off the feeling that she was being watched but she could see nothing in the dense darkness. She sat in the car and heaved heavily bleeding and exhausted.
