003 Beta's Pity

"You got there just in time, father!" Nate whined when he followed his father into the study, "The stupid kid was really going to whip me if it weren't for you!"

"Shut it!" Iron glared at his son, "It's Alpha Raven to you!"

"Father!" Nate protested in shock.

"It's Alpha Raven to you," Iron dropped his words one by one in a slow but threatening tone, "until we take control of the Alpha and the title. Do you get it?"

"Yes, father!" Nate grinned happily, and Iron shook his head with disappointment.

"You have got ONE job, to kill that rogue. What the hell happened back there?" Iron hung his coat on the hanger before he fixed his eyes on his son.

"I just want to teach him a lesson, father! He insulted you!" Nate whined in a mutter.

"And killing him is not enough of a lesson?!" Iron rolled his eyes as he sat down in front of his desk, "You just have to let your sadistic beast out and torture him!"

"I would have had my fun before I finish the job beautifully if it weren't for the fucking kid-- I mean, Alpha." Nate changed his word when he saw the anger in his father's eyes.

"Something is weird about that rogue, he might be onto us now, do you understand what that means?!" Iron sighed at his son as tiredness crawled onto his face. It would be much easier if Nate wasn't his only son.

"I know..." Nate lowered his head.

"It would ruin us if our secrets get out, Nate." Iron took a deep breath to gather his patience, "Our deal with the rogues is our most income."

"I know..." Nate dragged his whine even longer.

"Losing that would mean losing all the money!" Iron shouted at his son with something he could understand.

"Why? We have savings! We are the most wealthy family!" Nate jerked up his head in shock, really getting his father this time.

"Not when you throw money away on cars and women like paper!" Iron sighed, "Maybe I should just give the Alpha title to you little sister!"

"No, father! I'm good, I'll behave!" Nate sat up straight, appealing to his father with a behaved smile.

Iron shook his head.

"The cars and women are just my way to let off the stress is all..." Nate whimpered.

"What stress?!" Iron chuckled at his spoiled son. He doubted if his son cared about A thing in the world.

"To think of bowing at that stupid kid all the time, ugh!" Nate complained as he melted on the sofa, "I'm five years older than him, and I'm familiar with the pack's business much more than he does!"

"Which is why you are gonna be the first Alpha in the recent history of our family." Iron glared at his son, but didn't correct him this time, "You need to pay your due before that happens, and that means absolute respect to your Alpha, do you hear me?"

"Yes, father, yes..." Nate dragged his tone like a child, "But when are we gonna make a move?! We killed the Alpha like two YEARS ago!"

"Shut it! That's not something you can talk about!" Iron rose his voice this time, showing real anger. Nate sat up straight at his father's wrath, pursing his lips with fear in his eyes.

Iron sighed tiredly.

"Leave." Iron waved his hand at his son, "Get your sister to come to see me."

Iron wanted to get rid of the shameful name of "beta's family" to his last name. An Alpha is chosen by the whole pack, but it's not just about strength or ability, it's also about people's support. Iron was in every way a match to Raven's father, but he failed to gain the people's support, partly because Raven's family had been holding on to the Alpha's title for quite some time now.

Iron would have taken the title himself if he didn't bear to an Alpha of his match, and now his best option was to try to get his no-good son Nate that title.

If only he had another son who HAD a brain.

"Father, you want to see me?" A sweet voice rose by the door, breaking Iron's thoughts.

"Elena, come in." Iron waved his daughter in, "How is it going with your 18th birthday party planning?"

"All good, father. I invited most of our people, but a few loyal members of the old Alpha," Elena bowed mildly at her father, "It would be a huge party taking place at the Alpha's house. Alpha Revan was ever so kind to lend it."

Iron nodded in please: "And that's Saturday this week?"

"It's Sunday, actually. In three days, father." Elena smiled elegantly, "You must be tired to have such small things mixed up. I wish I could share your burden."

Elena didn't show any displeasure at the fact that her father had just forgotten her birthday, and guilt grew in Iron's chest. His daughter was superior in every way to Nate, even in battles. He would have chosen to get Elena the Alpha title if she was born a boy.

What a pity.

"And the arrangement regarding the Alpha?" Iron asked.

"I don't know if it's better to bother father with the dreadful details--"

"It's okay, tell me." Iron waved his hand. He really was tired.

"I will be taking my best friend, AKA, my personal maid, Allura to the party with me, and after the toast, Allura will give Alpha Raven a strong dose of sex drug in a drink before taking him back to his bedroom, where I would be sleeping due to all the alcohol I had." Elena said with a perfect smile as if she didn't just outlet with a dreadful scheme against her own Alpha, "And when he makes a move on me, I'll scream and get people in there, showing the Alpha for who he is in front of our supporter and the few that supported him for his dignity."

"Don't make a fuss about it at the scene--" Iron warned.

"I understand, father." Elena giggled lightly, "I'll understand the Alpha and swear to keep myself away from all men just to stay true to him, and if the Alpha doesn't vow to take me as his Luna, then we go for plan B."

"And the maid, Allura?" Iron asked with a worried tone.

"She wouldn't know what she's bringing the Alpha. She's just part of the plan, father." Elena smiled, "You know I would never trust the fate of our family with an outsider."

Iron nodded slowly, satisfied.

"I know I'm asking a lot from you, Elena..." Iron sighed after some hesitation, "You know how much I appreciate you, right?"

"You are my father!" Elena let out a surprised chuckle, "I would do anything for the family."

"You..." Iron hesitated before he continued, "You will give the Alpha title to your brother after all these, right? I know it's unfair, but it's just not enough to clear our shameful name if you are just gonna be a Luna. We NEED, an Alpha."

"Of course, father," Elena smiled perfectly, "I won't hold on to Luna's title."
