Cassia’s POV

He trudged in taking slow and smooth steps, towering over the room and making the rest of these men look small. His presence carried an aura I couldn't quite place. Familiarity? Power? Danger?

Those eyes…why do I have an inkling I have seen them before?

“You made it.” Ferderick, the lead representative for Martin's Group, rose up, acknowledging him. I cleared my throat, snapping from my train of thought upon realizing I was ogling in his direction.

That wasn't the worst?

He was staring point blank at me causing the walls of my stomach to tighten.

His lips curled into…. amusement? Satisfaction? Admiration? Upon noticing my smitten state.

There was something off about him. Something that told me, he wasn’t just here to attend the meeting.

No matter how hard I tried. I can't seem to decipher his facial expression. Or maybe he is doing a good job of cloaking it.

That doesn't still change the fact that the Goddess took an extra day to create this wolf cause he was fine

  • He Chose My Step-Sister and I Chose His Step-father    Chapter 24

Magnus’s POV The house was like a graveyard when I woke up. Dark and eerie. The moon light illuminated the windows, gracing parts of the marble floor with its alluring blue. I squinted against the darkness as I suddenly felt the urge to pee, my abdomen a heavy sac of liquid threatening to explode, so I doubled over carefully and turned on the lights. When I turned to look at Cassia's space, she wasn't in it. When my hands roamed the sheet, it was cold as ice, just like her expression from this afternoon.Where could she be, I wondered. It was unlike her to not sleep on the bed with me. Unless there was something bothering her. I went to the bathroom, eased myself, then grabbed a robe from my closet. I stepped out of the room, barring a hand on my waist. My wound was still hurting, though it was healing but it will still take a couple of days, since I was shot with poisoned silver. I limped around the house with a sore back and a piercing pain on my waist region. But I couldn’t fin

Jasmine’s POV “What do you think we should do now?” “We?” I crossed my arms tightly over my chest. “I clearly recall you telling me there is no..” I made air quotes with my fingers. “...we” I added.“Whatever, cheap skank. I’m getting out of here, to where I can actually think.” “Yeah…whatever.” He turned to glare at me as he walked towards the door. Wait…I snapped and he paused. The air shifted. Thick with Talon’s scent. My heart sank to my stomach. The eavesdropper that probably ran off, has probably reported us to him. “What are we going to do, Alfonso?” My voice was a panicking mess, “Talon is here.” I whimpered, with barely steadied breathing.“You think I don't know that?” He spat. “How about you quit acting like a scared little pussy first? If you continue like this he’s going to catch us. Do you understand? He’s probably just passing by.” “And if you are wrong? Then he waltzes in here? He’s going to ask you what you were doing in here. With me, what are you going to tell

Jasmine’s Pov “What are you talking about?” I muttered, trying to control my voice. He took several steps forward, and I took several steps backwards, till my back collided with Hero’s cot. The polished wood creaked under my weight. I took a glance at Hero. Innocence etched across his face, completely unaware that his father and mother are about to indulge in a fight.I glared at him. “You’re going to wake my baby.” “You mean our baby?” My knees weakened, almost giving out. Fuck, he knew. He found out. My mind drifted back to Cassia’s threat earlier. The bitch wasn't bluffing. How much more did she know? How much proof of my other deeds did she have? Goddess, I knew I should have fed her poison or slit her throat in her sleep when she was still here. She keeps ruining everything. “He’s not your baby. He’s Talon’s. Be mindful of what you say.” I said, staggering backwards away from Hero’s cot, towards the far end of the room. “You bitch. Breaking my heart by cheating on me with

Cassia’s POV“I have something interesting you’d like to hear, concerning Jasmine. If you are interested, call me immediately. She's played you just like she played me.” I texted as soon as I got off the call with Jasmine. She woke the sleeping dog. Poked the bear right in the eyes. She was going to pay for it. I wasn't going to give her time to come up with a defense. Now was the perfect time, while she was still trying to decipher in that brain of hers, if I was telling the truth or not. My sister was like a snake. She could worm her way into anything. She showed me the signs. I was too daft to see them. Till it was too late. The thoughts of the chaos this news would cause was simmering already in my brain making me smile at my phone. I was already relishing in the excitement.I knew Alfonso. A wolf in sheep's clothing. A psychopath. A man with a dark side. I had caught them several times making out in her room. Her mother didn't care, why should I? I give him ten seconds to cal

Jasmine’s POV “You are making empty treats. Talon would never believe your lies. He loves me more than he ever loved you.” I screamed into the phone. But only heard a deafening silence at the other end of the speaker. What the….She hung up? Some balls she has grown. As for Talon, how could he? So he's been lying to me all this while? When he’d told me he saw Cassia again in an event. He’d told me she was now a different. More confident. More formidable. Nothing like the innocent Cassia I remembered. To think it's just been one year since she left. When I heard about her scandal a few days ago. I was more than excited. I have hated that bitch since forever. Ever since her mother came between my mum and my father. After my father married her mother, Agnes, for 5 years, she died. I found ways to convince my father to take my mother back, so she could take care of us both. My father would do anything for that bitch and her mother. It annoyed me. Made me jealous.I can still remember

  • He Chose My Step-Sister and I Chose His Step-father    Chapter 19

Cassia’s POVThat was it.Nothing else? How did it even get in here? This is just a game. It has to be. Maybe one of the reporters could have slipped in when my car was parked at the hospital.Or slipped it in, when Magnus and I went inside? My mind buzzed with different thoughts and questions. But with a single understanding I successfully warded them off—No one could come into this compound without the guards catching wind of it.I walked back inside on legs that felt like jelly and a face that didn't have any of the excitement I had earlier. It's been three days since the shoot out happened. To think all would have blown over by now. But no. It got worse. Every media station had something to contribute. All lies obviously. A lot of negatives. Some positives. Others weren't sure which side of the crossfires they belonged to. Or maybe they were just scared. Scared of Magnus’s wrath. My face was on the cover of every magazine. I had to wear sunglasses everywhere I went. Our investo
