GIDEON

I rubbed my eyes as I slowly woke up. My brows furrowed when I realized I was in Amanda’s room. The sunlight filtering through the curtains made me squint as I sat up on the bed and tried to recall what happened last night.

My memories were a complete mess. I must have blacked out.

I let out a sigh and ran a hand through my hair. Amanda and I drank quite a lot last night. I knew I was drunk, but I didn’t think I had gotten drunk enough to completely lose memo

  • He Divorced Me, Then Begged Me Back   Chapter 32

GIDEONI rubbed my eyes as I slowly woke up. My brows furrowed when I realized I was in Amanda’s room. The sunlight filtering through the curtains made me squint as I sat up on the bed and tried to recall what happened last night. My memories were a complete mess. I must have blacked out.I let out a sigh and ran a hand through my hair. Amanda and I drank quite a lot last night. I knew I was drunk, but I didn’t think I had gotten drunk enough to completely lose memory of what happened afterward.Pushing the thoughts aside, I got out of bed and picked up my shirt from the floor. I always slept shirtless, and judging from where it landed, I probably threw it somewhere before passing out.I headed straight to the bathroom. After taking a shower and brushing my teeth, I finally stepped out of the room feeling a little more human.I immediately spotted Amanda sitting on the couch. A smile automatically spread across my lips.

  • He Divorced Me, Then Begged Me Back   Chapter 31

ANGELWhen I opened my eyes, a plain white ceiling was the first thing that greeted me. The familiar sterile scent lingered in the air, accompanied by the faint hum of machines nearby. My brows slowly knitted together as I stared blankly overhead, still trying to piece my thoughts together. Then, all at once, realization hit me.I was in a hospital. My eyes widened in terror. I immediately tried to sit up, but a sharp pain shot through my body, forcing a pained whimper from me. Everything hurt. My head felt heavy, my muscles ached, and even the slightest movement made me uncomfortable. What happened? Why does my whole body ache? The door suddenly opened, and a nurse walked inside. She looked surprised to see me awake. Before she could say anything, fragments of memories suddenly flashed through my mind. My breathing immediately became uneven.“No…”I shook my head repeatedly as more memories came flooding back.

  • He Divorced Me, Then Begged Me Back   Chapter 30

ANGELI barely processed anything, yet somehow, I still found myself driving to the location he had sent.It was pathetic, really. Last night, I spent hours telling myself it was time to move on from him. Yet all it took was one message, and suddenly I was clinging to hope all over again.I knew I should be more guarded after what happened. I knew I should stop expecting things from him. But no matter what I did, I always found myself crawling back to him.I kept biting my nails nervously while the elevator ascended. My heart pounded harder with every passing second, although it wasn’t the kind of nervousness I wanted to feel. It wasn’t excitement. If anything, it felt more like anxiety. A strange feeling sat heavily in my chest, making it difficult to breathe properly. My palms were already damp with sweat by the time I reached the door. I wiped them against my clothes before reaching for the doorknob.I slowly pushed the door o

ANGELInstead of driving me home, Rowan brought me to his place. He made me take a shower first and even lent me a set of brand-new clothes.I was in the living room when I heard his footsteps approaching. He handed me a glass of water before taking the seat across from me. I accepted it and drank from it, instantly feeling a little refreshed. My throat had gone dry from all the crying earlier.Compared to a few hours ago, I had already calmed down. Thanks to him.Honestly, I didn’t know what I would have done if he hadn’t come. I probably would have spent the entire night sitting there in the rain. “Your husband didn’t come?” He sounded hesitant when he asked that, as though he wasn’t sure whether he should bring it up.Embarrassed, I lowered my gaze and nodded.“Why? Was he busy?”I wished that was the reason, but deep down, I already knew it wasn’t. He did it on purpose.I shook my head and emptied

  • He Divorced Me, Then Begged Me Back   Chapter 28

ANGEL Unable to endure the uncertainty any longer, I finally called him. I pressed the phone against my ear and listened to it ring, silently praying he would answer… but he didn’t.“Maybe he’s driving,” I whispered to myself, forcing a smile that didn’t quite reach my eyes. “He probably can’t answer while driving.”The excuse sounded weak even to my own ears, but I held onto it anyway.I kept fidgeting with my nails as my eyes remained fixed on the time displayed on my phone screen.11:59 Just one more minute… One minute before our anniversary ended. One minute before this day that I had spent months waiting for became nothing more than another wasted memory.I lowered my head and laughed softly at myself. How pathetic.I reached for the gifts I had prepared for him. I poured every bit of effort I had into them because I wanted to give him something meaningful. I never expected him to treasure them, nor did I

ANGEL “Open the door!” I shouted as I pounded against it. “Hey! Is anyone there?”I kept banging on the door until my palms ached, clinging to the hope that someone would hear me. Karen, perhaps.“Karen!” I yelled. “Can someone open the door, please?”Eventually, my arms gave out, and my voice grew hoarse. Defeated, I slid down onto the floor and wrapped my arms around my knees. The air inside the storage room felt suffocating. Sweat clung to my skin as I looked around, searching for anything that could help me get out. Unfortunately, there was nothing but stacks of boxes and old supplies.I lowered my head and laughed bitterly. For sure, this was all part of Zenaida’s plan. And as an absolute fool, I had walked right into it.I heaved a deep sigh of determination. If I stayed here waiting for someone to unlock the door for me, then everything I had planned and would be sacrificing would be for nothing. I couldn’t let this day b
