I roll my sleeves up as I look at the supposed budget for the opening of the branch at NYC 2 for Spins and Scent, it looks incredibly ridiculous.“Are you sure I approve of this??” I asked, looking at every member of the financial team to their faces and trying hard not to sound annoyed. Most of them averted their faces as they usually do, and those who could hold my gaze for as long as 3 minutes noticed the tone my direction was going and their faces went back to the floor.I don't like scaring my employees, but generally, they bring over this ridiculous type of proposal, and it's worth hitting your head on their chin when you know it isn't needed.“You approved of it sir, and I was the one who oversaw its usage.” the head of the financial team, Mr. Grant said as he pointed to the pages of the finance and exactly to the place I had signed.Hands-on chin, I did a thorough look at the signature, making sure this had everything to do with me.Once I knew I signed it, (although I cannot remember doing so) I stood up from the seat and looked at them.“Send that budget over to my office, and make sure my assistant brings them to me” I turn around to leave.“But sir…” I heard Mr. Grant's voice and stopped walking.Cracking my head on why I had been stopped, I turned around and gave him a hard stare. He bit the lower part of his lips and stared at me until I nodded my head toward him, giving him a go-ahead.“I'm sorry sir, but you have no assistant as of now,” he said, turning his eyes everywhere else but at me.Right. That clicked in on why no one else was sitting beside me at this meeting, so I sacked the last of my assistants.“Fair enough, send it yourself” Without waiting for a response from him, I turned around and left the office.I hope the search for a replacement is happening soon because there is a lot to be done. I need more than a hand to oversee all that work, especially with another opening in less than two months.* *The door opened, ushering in Jayce. I am always taken aback anytime I see any of my brothers because of the way we all look alike, especially Jayce and me since we both are 6 '2 and seem to take over that height from our father.“Jaime what's up man.” He came straight to my desk settling his ass there before clasping our hands together in a shake.“I don't remember wanting you in my office.” I looked at all the work that was staring back at me and sighed.“We have plans, the meeting, remember??” He corked his eyes out staring at meOf course, I have forgotten, since there is no one here to remind me of that.“Right, the meeting” I start turning around the work I have been doing, pushing the papers onto a side of the desk so as not to forget where I have stopped.“If only you let this one go without fucking her” He hissed.“I didn't, I didn't fuck her” I eyed him, reminding him exactly why I'm not like he is.I don't fuck my workers, for me, it is strictly business and when you mix business with pleasure it goes bad.“Oh really?? But the tales.....” I stood up, shutting him up.“Can you get your ass up and let's get there already?” He huffed at me before standing up, and we both started walking out of the office. We elaborated on the opening and how important it was for the business and the sales of that night as we walked through the elevator. On the down floor, I noticed a little commotion going on and the flocks of people that seemed to have suddenly filtered through my building.“What is going on here??” I turn to Jayce, who seems to have the same expression on my face.He looked at me and then his eyes twitched twice, something he seems to do a lot when he has a recollection.“That's right, I remember now, the search for your new assistant” He beamed at me.“Oh really??” Since I have no idea of such happening and I have an interest in that too. “Well, I hope they get someone more trustworthy than the others,” I said before turning around and walking away, leaving Jayce still standing behind. And that's when I saw her. A dark lilac blond hair parked in a sharp ponytail, bronzing brown skin that seemed to scream loud, and the bold way she took her steps into the building. Her posture is straight, her face (although I cannot see it from here) facing ahead to where she is.She should be 5 '4 with the heels on and the shabby chic clothing she is putting on, and yet, she seems so familiar.I stopped walking, all my attention now fixed on the female who just walked in. Why does she seem so familiar? Her lilac blonde hair is shining so bright, making her brown skin pop up and everyone's attention seems to be on her.Noticing Jayce coming closer to me, I turned around and averted my face from where it had been before.“So I've got the news,” he suddenly announced.“And what could that be??”“The meeting has been canceled,” He said, “and if you had had an assistant we could have known this sooner. See you mate.” he tapped his hands on my shoulder before turning away.I took a massive breath in and turned back to the lady I had been looking at before, now she was on cue with the others and had half her face turned towards this wayI twitched my eyes to look at her directly and that's when I remembered the face. The girl from the opening. The one that was watching my brothers and me throughout the night like a hawk. What is she doing here?? Knowing I could not stand here for any more minutes, an idea popped into my head and I beamed before walking back to the elevator.CLARISSAI gasped as my back hit the elevator wall, his hands gripping my hips, his mouth crashing against mine like he had been starved for it.His hands were rough on my skin, pressing me so hard I knew I needed more. The kiss was urgent, greedy. His hips rolled into me, and I whimpered at the feel of his thick, hard length pressing against my stomach.“Finally…” he muttered, his teeth grazing my bottom lip before sucking it into his mouth. “I’ve been craving you since the day you fucking stared at me from across the hall.”His words hit harder than I expected. Without thinking, I pushed closer, needing him all over me. God, I wanted more.“Impressive,” I managed to say as his hips moved again, his hand hitching my dress up.His lips trailed to my neck, and his teeth scraped against the sensitive skin there. “Can’t wait to be inside you,” he growled. The heat of his breath zinged straight to my core, and if I thought I was already wet, I was dripping now from the filthy things comin
JAIME ADRIELThe moment the message came in, I picked up my phone, thinking it was something work-related.But no, it was a video.Clarissa.In a kitchen. With George Aberforth. My jaw clenched before I even realized it. Her laughter rang through the speakers, light and carefree. She wasn’t even in the frame for most of the video, but her smile was loud enough to feel. And for some reason, that pissed me off more than I care to admit.“Sir?”I looked up, dragging my eyes from the screen and placing the phone flat on the table. We were in the middle of a meeting, finalizing the first branch opening here, the fragrances doing exceptionally well in early markets. This was supposed to be a win. Expansion was next on the agenda. But now I was trying to piece together what I had missed while my head had been somewhere else.Across the table, Georgina was watching me. She hadn’t looked away once the entire time. I honestly wished she wasn’t here, but of course, she had demanded to be include
CLARISSA MILLERI tossed and turned all night and barely caught a wink of sleep. This morning’s schedule is already glaring at me, reminding me of everything I need to get done. So why can’t I get out of this bed?Oh, right, I know why. It has everything to do with my boss.I’m trying hard not to think about the fact that I’ve developed feelings for Jaime Adriel, but it’s driving me insane.Last night, I had to leave as quickly as possible. Even when he offered to drive me back to the hotel, I told him I would be fine on my own, and then I ran.Yes, I fled. Because I was on the verge of losing it, and there’s really no other way to explain how loud these emotions are in my head.I turned into the pillow and let out another scream, louder this time. Tell me how this even happened? When? Why?This is the crazy part, there is no explanation.I lifted my head and stared up at the ceiling, then turned to the sunlight streaming through the window.Maybe I’ll just stay here and wait to die.
CLARISSANot only was he funny, but I never expected George to be the type of man who could be so laid back, making a woman laugh without trying to pull her down.Even after finding out I was just an assistant, he still spoke to me calmly, with a warm smile that made him feel like a breath of fresh air, so unlike the world of the rich I was used to while working with Jaime.“This piece of art is unique. It has been in this house for centuries, passed down from generation to generation. You have good eyes.”I turned to George with a full smile before my gaze flicked back to the painting on the wall.It looked like a bowl of mashed potatoes at first glance, but the longer I stared, the more it pulled me in. I still couldn’t quite tell what it was, but I was captivated.“Your home is beautiful, George,” I said, pulling my eyes away from the art and glancing at the crowd filling the house. And then my eyes went exactly where they shouldn’t, Jaime and Georgina, George’s twin sister, standi
JAIME ADRIELAfter a long, exhausting day at work, all I wanted was to unwind. But of course, the party I have been invited to still required my presence. And that’s where Clarissa came in.I sent her a message almost two hours ago, asking her to get ready. Even the dress I had delivered to her suite remained untouched. No confirmation, no reply. Where the hell was she?I shouldn’t be this angry, but I was. I was standing right in front of her door, and it was nearly 7 p.m. She wasn’t back. The irritation I have been holding in all day boiled over. She had already pissed me off earlier, ditching the first meeting without a single word. And now she couldn’t even be bothered to answer her phone? Not the calls. Not the dozen texts. That alone was enough reason to fire her, regardless of whatever agreement we had made. She was the first to break it. She was supposed to follow my schedule, not hers. Then the elevator dinged.Laughter, bright, warm, hers, echoed down the hallway before she
Seven torturous hours later, I could barely see my screen. My back ached, my head pounded like a drum, and my neck felt like it was about to snap clean off. Yet, my boss still sat across from me, throwing piles and piles of work in my direction like I was some machine designed to never stop.In just three hours, we had another important meeting. So somehow, I was expected to show up looking fresh and capable, not like the zombie I was slowly turning into. The first groan that escaped my mouth all night earned me a sharp look from him, irritation flaring through his nose.“What exactly were you doing all evening before now?” he snapped, silencing the little complaint that had been building in my chest. I couldn’t even form a reply. What was I supposed to say? Watching TV and sipping wine before he barged in like the devil? He stood abruptly, and for a moment, hope bloomed in my chest.“I need to take this call,” he muttered, waving his phone at me, one I hadn’t even noticed ringing, be
