Chapter 7

Autor: Lumi Here
In the video, Yara handed Cindy a sandwich.

Cindy accepted it without suspicion and ate it.

The footage cut to a scene after Yara left. Cindy and several children nearby clutched their stomachs and collapsed in pain, one after another.

"That isn't what happened! The video is fake! Someone edited it..."

Yara went cold all over as she tried desperately to explain.

Simon answered with a vicious slap.

Smack!

The sharp sound echoed down the corridor.

"Do you think she could arrange to poison herself and get all those people in the slums poisoned too?"

Simon's eyes were cold with disgust.

He spoke each word clearly. "Yara, you make me sick."

The blow knocked Yara's head to the side. Her cheek burned, and tears slid down her face.

Simon saw the red mark he left and paused. For a moment, he seemed to hesitate.

Then the emergency room doors opened. The hospital director came out with a grave expression.

"Mr. Quinn, Miss Hughes is in critical condition. The toxin has entered her bloodstream. She needs an immediate full exchange transfusion, or we'll lose both her and the baby!"

Simon's eyes hardened.

Without hesitation, he pushed Yara forward. "Use her blood! They have the same blood type!"

People dragged Yara away by force.

Despair filled her eyes.

"No... You can't... I'm allergic to anesthetics. I could die..."

Simon looked away.

His voice was cold. "You owe her this. It's how you'll pay for what you did."

The moment they injected the anesthetic, her whole body began to convulse, and she struggled to breathe.

Every moment of the transfusion was torture.

Afterward, they dumped her in a standard hospital room. The nurse who came to change her dressings looked at her with contempt.

"You're the woman who poisoned a pregnant woman and those children, aren't you? I've never seen anyone so vicious. You deserve this!"

Only then did Yara learn that the video had spread across the internet under the headline "Mrs. Quinn Poisons Victims Out of Jealousy."

Everyone blamed her.

Later, someone leaked her room number.

An angry crowd and several livestreamers surrounded her in the hospital room.

They shoved phones in her face and threw rotten eggs and vegetables at her. Their abuse filled the room.

"You monster! Go die!"

"You hurt a pregnant woman and children! You deserve to die!"

"Mr. Quinn must have been blind to marry someone like you!"

Someone also told her that Simon booked the entire top floor and cared for Cindy day and night.

After three days and nights of being surrounded and abused, Yara broke down completely.

Only when word came that Cindy was out of danger did Simon finally remember Yara. He sent someone to bring her home from the hospital.

He found her curled up on the bed, vacant-eyed and dazed.

Simon sounded irritated.

He still seemed unable to forgive her, yet he couldn't quite leave her alone.

"Everyone out there is furious with you. Stay home for now, and don't go out."

Yara didn't move.

After a long time, she asked in a hoarse voice that was barely audible, "Those children... are they all right?"

Simon gripped the doorframe and gave a cold laugh.

"You hurt all those innocent children just to get at Cindy. Now you're pretending to care whether they live or die?"

But when he saw the despair on Yara's face, he stopped himself.

Instead, he said, "Forget it. You don't have to pretend to be upset. I paid for their treatment, and they survived. That should quiet the people online."

Yara closed her eyes and said nothing more.

She knew there was no point.

She glanced at the time.

Seven days remained.

Then she could leave and forget it all.

"Simon," Yara said his name clearly. "You won't let me die."The familiar way she addressed him made Simon freeze. Hope flared in his eyes."You... you remember?" His voice shook with joy, but a deeper despair quickly overtook it.If Yara remembered him, she also remembered every painful thing he put her through."Yes, I remember." Yara looked at him, her voice calm and free of anger.Simon clung to that answer as his last hope. His words tumbled out."Then you remember loving me, don't you? You remember all the good times we shared..."Yara walked toward him."Yara! Don't go near him!" Lyndon called urgently behind her.She kept walking and stopped a few steps from Simon."Yes, I remember. You got revenge for me. You made everyone who hurt me pay.""Yes! That's how much I love you!" Simon cried. "You know that if anyone hurt you, I would make their whole family pay!""Cindy is dead, and so are the others who hurt you. No one can come between us now!"Yara's smile vanished. Her g
