REBECCA'S POV

There are two kinds of people you can tame—those you train, and those you break.

Alyssa is young, timid, and vulnerable. The kind that needs to be trained, built into something that can be used.

Plus, she seems like the bottom of the food chain with no ambition, and that is exactly what I need by my side.

Someone trained.

"Is there anyone else?" I frowned, and she quickly waved her hands.

“No, no… Miss Belmont, I just find it strange that you would pick someone like me,” Alyssa murmured, her voice barely carrying across the room. “I don’t really know much.”

She stared down at her hands, fingers twisting nervously in her lap, as if hoping they could hide her discomfort. I watched her in silence for a moment, letting the tension build before I answered.

“And that,” I said calmly.“is precisely why I’m choosing you.”

I leaned back in my chair, studying her with calculated ease. She looked like a rabbit caught in a snare—too frightened to run, too stunned to speak.
