In the twilight hours, when the sun was but a fading ember in the sky, the students of the school would gather for their final activity of the day: sport. Some would sweat and strain on the field, while others pursued more esoteric interests in the school's non-physical clubs. There were those who sought the supernatural, the musicians who made melodies, and the journalists who hunted for truth.

Though extra-curricular activities were not mandatory, those who wished to attend a reputable university knew that they must excel in every aspect of their education. Miranda, however, found herself alone in the bleachers overlooking the football field. She was not a member of any club, and she should have been at her uncle's café half an hour ago. But instead, she pulled out a book of spells from her bag and began to read.
