Chapter Three

“Is she okay?” Jenny asked Cara as she wiped her nose with a tissue. We were all in Jenny’s house and I was pacing in her bedroom back and forth, thinking of a way to get back at him. I let out a huge sigh and sat down on the bed facing her.
“I’m so sorry, Jenny. We were supposed to cheer you up but my mood is completed ruined by a dick head. I want to kill him.”
“Tyler Cummings, right?” she asked and I gave her a puzzled look, wondering how she knew it was him when she didn’t even come to school today.
I noticed Cara signalling towards Jenny with her eyes and I couldn’t understand what the hell was going on.
“Okay, first of all, how do you know and what is going on, Cara?”
“Please don’t get mad but someone recorded the whole thing and it’s on i*******m now.” Mandy explained and I think I went pale.
No way!
I grabbed my phone quickly and checked out my i*******m to find the entire school share and commenting and some even tagging me on the video where I got humiliated by Tyler Cummings.
Weirdly, I was gaining more followers but that didn’t help with the amount of rage I was feeling right now.
This can’t be happening.
“Oh my God! I’m screwed. I want to murder him with my own hands. Do you guys know anything about him?” I asked the gang and everyone shook her head except Cara.
“He was a transfer student last year and I know he lives with his mom and dad two streets away from your house,”
“How do you know all this?” I asked, eyeing her suspiciously.
“I have my own connections.” She added with a small shrug and I let out a loud groan, thinking about going to school tomorrow.
“Everyone is going to laugh at me tomorrow. It was an honest mistake but he made it seem as if I was some self-centred bitch.”
“Forgot about him, Chloe. He will probably come around and apologize to you tomorrow.” Mandy tried to console me but I wasn’t convinced.
“I’ll make him apologize to me somehow.” I said in a determined voice and let out a huge breath.
We hung out at Jenny’s place for an hour and made sure she was feeling better before we left. When I reached home, I was once again greeted by an empty living room and Mary was nowhere in sight.
“Mary, are you there?” I called out but heard no response in return. I walked inside the kitchen and found a note stuck on the refrigerator.
‘Went out for gorcery shopping. Will be home soon.’ - Mary
I smiled at the note and went upstairs to my room to change into my SpongeBob PJ’s. After studying for a bit, I decided to take a break and grabbed my laptop.
I tried my best to ignore all the notifications I received on I*******m as I didn’t have the heart to look at it. I noticed that only I was tagged in all of the videos and not him. Out of curiosity, I searched for his name and got no results on I*******m.
Weird.
It was the same on F******k and G****e as well. He had no social media presence at all and continued to remain a mystery to me.
Who the hell are you Tyler Cummings?!
I quit stalking him like an obsessive bitch and continued focus on my work which wasn’t successful either as my mind was formulating all the possible scenarios that could happen tomorrow at school.
Am I not cool anymore?
What if people tease me and I’m not the popular one anymore?!
Would Tyler White be interested in me after what happened today?
“Chloe, come and have dinner.” I heard Mary’s loud voice from downstairs which distracted me from overthinking any further.
“Coming, Mary.” I called out and stood up from my bed to head downstairs.
The next day when I reached school with my friends, I could see people staring at me and some even laughing and whispering among themselves.
It wasn’t even that bad to think about. These people have nothing interesting enough to gossip I guess.
“Ugh! Get over it already.” I yelled loud enough for everyone to hear as I walked inside.
“Don’t mind them, Chloe.” Jenny rubbed my arm in a comforting manner and I noticed Tyler White, standing in front of his locker.
“Oh God! Screw the note. Do you think he will say yes if I ask him out now?”
“Of course he will. Go ahead and ask him,” Cara nudged me forward and I took a deep breath before walking towards him.
I flipped my hair and plastered a huge smile on my face.
“Hey Tyler,”
“Chloe Adams, are you sure you got the right Tyler this time?” he teased and I mentally groaned in embarrassment.
“Because of what happened yesterday, I get it.” I let out a nervous chuckle and he tried so hard not to laugh.
“It’s all cool but I didn’t get the note either.” He confirmed the question that had been running in my mind since last evening.
“Forget the note. Umm...I just wanted to ask if you wanted to hang out with me sometime,” I blurted out and kept chewing on my bottom lip, waiting for his response but he remained silent for a few seconds.
Oh my God! What happened to me?
Two consecutive humiliations!
“I’m sorry. I knew this was a bad idea..” I was about to turn around and walk away.
“It’s not you, Chloe. I just got back with Emma last night. I’m really so sorry.” He looked really apologetic and I appreciated his honesty. I didn’t feel hurt or anything even though I wanted to go out with him.
That’s when it struck me. I hardly knew this guy and I asked him out just because he was cute. Maybe I shouldn’t jump into another relationship just because I’m single.
“I’m glad you got back with Emma. No hard feelings, Ty.” I gave him a huge grin and walked back to join my friends.
“So, what happened?” Mandy was the first one to ask.
“He turned me down.”
“What?” All three of them asked in unison and I rolled my eyes at their obvious response.
“Yeah, because he got back with his ex. It’s totally fine.” I shrugged and started to get my stuff from the locker.
“Are you okay with it?” Jenny asked in a concerned voice, assuming that I would be hurt.
“Surprisingly, yes. Let’s get moving now.”
“Well, I’m glad no one witnessed him turning you down or you would have gone viral all over again.” Cara spoke as we walked towards my math class.
“What is that supposed to mean, Cara?” I asked as we stopped in front of my class. I was clearly annoyed by tone in which she spoke.
“Nothing. Absolutely nothing.”
“Good because you are free to leave this groul anytime you want if you think I’m ruining your reputation,” I snapped angrily and walked inside the class without waiting for her reply. Mandy followed me inside right behind.
“Jeez! That was harsh, Chloe.”
“She had been getting on my nerves since yesterday.”
“I know. I’ll talk to her.”
“Ms. Adams, in the front.” Mr. Glassman pointed to an empty seat which was unfortunately next to the guy who embarrassed me in front of the entire school.
“I’m more comfortable back over there, Mr. Glassman.”
“Comfortable talking with Ms. Cooper, I presume. Stop sulking and sit down, Ms. Adams.”
He looked like he wasn’t going to take no for an answer so I took a deep breath and placed my book the desk.
“Unbelievable.” I mumbled under my breath and sat down next to Tyler Cummings. I peered at him from the corner of my eyes. He was wearing a grey oversized hoodie as usual along with his glasses and his hair was a messy and I noticed that it was pretty long, curling up around the nape of his neck.
Once the final bell rang, the class began and he seemed to hardly acknowledge my presence which should have been a good thing but it pissed me off further.
I wanted him to apologise to me but he was acting as if he had no idea that I was sitting next to me.
“Can someone tell me the value of cos 360°?”
“1.” I blurted out immediately as I knew the answer and heard him snort beside me.
“Show-off.” He muttered loud enough for me to hear and I realised that he was well aware of my presence next to him. I gave him a murderous glare but remained silent as I didn’t want to draw any unnecessary attention towards me.
“Very good, Ms. Adams.” Mr. Glassman appreciated me but I was pissed at a certain someone who was sitting beside me to even enjoy it.
After a while, I heard something fall off from his desk and looked down to see a pencil near my leg. I resumed my work and pretended as if I didn’t notice it.
“Are you going to get that or not?” he asked in an annoyed tone and I finally looked up from my book to meet his gaze.
I smirked, kicking the pencil further away from me and noticed him clenching his fist in anger.
“Pick it up if it want.”
Two can play this game.
After a few seconds, I felt him kick my leg and I let out a loud gasp.
“Ow! Did you just kick my leg?” I burst out angrily and kicked him back forcefully.
“Jesus Christ!” He hissed in pain and tried to push my things off my desk and that was when I noticed that the entire class had gone silent and every pair of eyes were on us.
Fuck! We were acting like children.
“Both of you, out of my class and detention after school.” Mr. Glassman roared angrily, looking down at both of us and he had a disappointed look on his face as I walked past him which was even more worse.
I got sent out of his class twice which was not a good sign and the last thing I wanted in my final year was a detention.
All because of him.
“You!” I pointed my finger at him as he walked outside the class behind me.
“You have no idea what I am capable of so you better apologize to me right now so that we can end this little fued.”
He came a little closer towards me, taking me off guard and I stumbled backwards a little bit.
“And you also have no idea what I am capable of, Chloe Adams.” He whispered in a dangerously low tone which I would have found attractive on anyone else but not him.
Never him!
“Oh yeah! Let’s see what you’ve got, dickhead.” I spat at him and noticed his lips curve into a devilish grin.
“You have no idea what you’re asking for, princess.” He stepped even more closer and it was hard for me look at his eyes past his glasses but I got a whiff of his colonge which distracted me momentarily.
Since when did nerds started to smell good!
“Game on, Tyler.” I smirked in response and walked away from him before he could respond.
