Chapter Two

Once the class started, I pulled out a piece of paper and started to write a note. We were not allowed to use phones inside our classes and moreover, I didn’t have his number so I decided to do this the classic way.
‘Hey Tyler, I’ll be waiting for you in our cafeteria after school. Don’t be late.’ - Chloe
It didn’t sound weird or desperate, right?
I thought to myself and kept staring at the piece of paper for a really long time, wondering if this was a dumb idea
All of a sudden, Mandy snatched it away from my hand.
“Hey!” I whisper yelled and noticed her folding it.
“For the love of God, you were taking an eternity to pass a simple note.”
“Psst!” She tried to call Dan who was sitting in front of us and when he turned, she quickly shoved the note in his hand.
“Pass it to Tyler,”
“Is there a problem Ms. Adams and Ms.Cooper?”
We both heard our teacher’s voice and looked up to find him staring down at us through his round spectacles. He was a middle-aged man, short with a potted belly and looked scary as hell.
Probably the only teacher at school I feared.
“No-Nothing, Mr.Glassman.” I stuttered, clearing my throat and he didn’t seem to buy it.
“Both of you come and sit in the front row,” He replied sternly and I tried so hard not to roll my eyes as I stood up and walked towards the front.
“Great! Now I have to pretend to listen to him.” I heard Mandy whine beside me. I let out a huge sigh and started to take notes.
Once the class got over, we both waited for Dan outside the class and Cara joined us after a few minutes.
“I’m already hating senior year. It’s the first day and I can’t understand even a word of what these people teach,” she was rambling to Mandy while I was anxiously waiting for Dan.
“Hey Dan,” I yelled as I noticed him walking out of the class in the other direction.
“Sup, girls.” He gave Mandy a wink but she hardly noticed him and continued to speak with Cara.
“Did you give it to him?”
“The note?”
“Yeah, what else?” I rolled my eyes at his dumbness and he gave me a slight shrug.
“I hope it reached him. I gave it to the person in front of me to pass it down.”
That didn’t help.
“Okay, thanks.” I pouted and turned towards my friends.
“I should have just asked him out in the normal way instead of passing these stupid notes.” I groaned and started walking towards my next class while they followed me right behind.
“It’s not like he is going to say no to you, Chloe. Just Relax.” Cara opened her mouth and I turned to my side to find her scrolling through her phone.
“I don’t want him to think I’m a nerd or something. I mean, who sends notes these days?”
“I think it’s romantic,” Mandy stated with a huge grin and I shook my head with a small smile.
“Can’t believe I’m simping over a guy. He better be worth it.” I muttered as we walked inside our next class.
The rest of the day seemed to drag and I couldn’t wait for my last period to get over. I was nervous to meet Tyler even though, I knew he would agree to go out with me. Once the last bell for the day rang, I rushed outside the class and texted my friends to meet me in the girl’s restroom.
I fixed my hair and just when I was applying another coat of lipstick, Mandy and Cara joined me and started to check themselves in the mirror as well.
“After speaking with Tyler, we need to head to Jenny’s house, guys. Cara, you have cancelled your date right?” I asked just to make sure that we were sticking to the plan.
“Why do you alone get to meet Tyler?” she asked, looking at me through the mirror and I raised my eyebrows, knowing exactly where she was getting at.
“Because I am just asking out Tyler not actually going on a date with him today unlike you.” I snapped, shutting her up and she simply rolled her eyes and continued to fix her makeup.
I swear she gets on my nerves every time we have a conversation.

The cafeteria was fairly crowded and most of our students were either eating or chatting with their friends or working on some school projects. We found our regular table and sat down, waiting for Tyler White but he was nowhere to be seen.
“Tardiness. That’s not a good sign.” Cara tsked, making me glare at her.
“Shut up, Cara. We haven’t been waiting for even a full five minutes.” Mandy nudged her and I silently thanked her with my eyes. We continued to wait for some time and after a few minutes, Cara opened her stupid mouth again.
“Uh-Oh, Why is the wrong Tyler here?”
“What?” I asked, looking in the direction of where her eyes were pointing at and I saw Tyler Cummings, sitting two tables in front of us with his head almost buried inside in his books.
“Chloe, you don’t think...”
“No, I am sure Tyler White must have got the note. This guy is just a nerd and probably doing his homework or something in the cafeteria.” I tried to convince them but I couldn’t help but wonder if the wrong Tyler got my note by mistake.
Oh my God, that would be a disaster.
He can’t possibly think I would be into him. He was simply not my type.
“Chloe, you better go and ask him to leave. I’m pretty sure he got the note by mistake and he is probably waiting for you to talk to him,” Cara suggested and I thought she might be right. It was probably the wise thing to do instead of sitting and wasting our time.
“I knew the note was a stupid idea,” I mumbled under my breath and walked toward Tyler Cummings, the guy to whom I haven’t uttered a single word till now.
I noticed the entire cafeteria’s eyes were on me as I walked towards his table.
Freaking awesome!
I cleared my throat to get his attention but he didn’t seem to notice me.
“Tyler?” I called out and he finally looked up to meet my gaze through his glasses. He was wearing a large oversized black hoodie and his hair was a mess, covering almost his entire forehead. He looked like he didn’t seem to care what people thought about him.
He raised his eyebrows, waiting for me to talk and I shook my head before forming the words.
“Umm.. the note was probably a mistake. It was meant for the other Tyler in our class. Tyler White.” I started to explain and tucked a piece of hair behind my ears. He folded his arms in front of his chest and gave me an amusing look which made me go blank fir a secondary.
“I just wanted to let you know in case you were waiting for me to come over and talk,” I finished with a small smile but he remained silent and kept staring at me with a straight face.
“Ummm..okay, then.” I slowly turned around and was about to walk away. I could hear people whispering around me and a few teasing him.
“What made you think that I was here waiting for you?” He asked, making me stop dead on my tracks. I think it was the first time I heard his voice which was surprisingly deep and kinda hot which was completely opposite to his appearance.
“Excuse me?” I turned around to face him just to make sure if I had heard him right.
“You heard me. Why would you think that I was here for you...Chloe, is it?” he asked, with a small smirk, dancing around the corner of his lips and I could hear collective gasps from the people around us.
Everyone knew my name in the school or atleast that’s what I thought.
He has got to be kidding me.
“Why else would you be here?” I scoffed, flipping my hair.
“Last time I checked, this was a public cafeteria and I was doing my homework. Not everything is about you.” He stood up, collecting his stuff and I could hear people bursting into laughter and some even cheering him for his guts.
How dare he humiliates me in front of everyone?!
“Why don’t you admit that you feel embarrassed that the note wasn’t meant for you?” I asked, giving him an evil smirk but all he did was let out a small chuckle.
“I didn’t get your stupid note in the first place. You should probably get off your high horse, princess.” He shook his head and walked away, leaving me standing alone in the middle of the cafeteria with a crowd that had now formed a circle around me.
Nobody walks away from me!
I must have looked like an idiot and it was all because of Tyler Cummings, who was not so innocent and nerdy after all.
I walked back towards our table, fuming with anger and neither of my friends opened their mouth because they knew me a little too well.
If he didn’t get my note then did Tyler White receive my note and chose to ignore it?
This made me even more mad.
“Who does he think he is? This isn’t the end. I’m gonna make him pay for this.” I muttered angrily and stood up to leave.
“Are you guys coming or not?” I yelled and everyone started to disperse around me.
“Y--Yeah, Chloe.”
Mandy and Cara, both responded in unison and stood up to join me as we walked out of the school and towards the parking lot.
