Epilogue (I): Camilla and Calvin

The noise of babies woke Kelvin up. He rolled on the bed and pouted as their laughter grew louder. They were having fun without him. Leila was in charge of the kids today. Whatever she was doing must be making them happy because they were laughing so hard. He hurried to the bathroom to do his business and stepped out with a fresh breath.

Leila was on her knees in the playroom. She was playing fetch with the kids. They were walking now, a few words here and there but nothing coherent. All three of them were on their knees. Kelvin stood by the doorframe, legs crossed at his ankles and arms folded. He had his whole life in front of him. He couldn’t have asked for anything more. His wife must have sensed his presence, she looked at him and he beamed.
