Dante’s POV

The first tear slid down her cheek before she could swipe it away.

Quiet. Fragile. Devastating.

Cassidy stared out the window like she wished she could dissolve into it, disappear into the glass, into the sky, into anywhere that wasn’t here—with me, with the bruised echo of Ethan’s heartbreak still hanging in the air like smoke.

My hands tightened on the steering wheel until the leather groaned under my grip. The engine hummed softly beneath us, a low rumble that did nothing to drown out the tension thickening the air in my sleek black Audi. The campus blurred past us—ivy-covered buildings, clusters of students laughing obliviously, the faint scent of autumn leaves sneaking through the vents. But inside this car, it felt like a pressure cooker, every unsaid word building steam.

“Cass.” My voice was low—too low, edged with the frustration I was trying to rein in. “Look at me.”

She didn’t. Instead, she pulled her sleeves over her hands, shrinking in on herself l

  • His Dirty Little Secret    You’re staring.

Cassidy's POV “Don’t hold back, Dante. I need to feel you— all of you.”A low growl rumbled from his throat, primal and possessive, as he shrugged out of his jacket, letting it fall to the floor in a careless heap of fine wool. He yanked his tie loose with one hand, tossing it aside like an afterthought, his shirt following in a swift motion that left him bare from the waist up. God, he was magnificent—sculpted like a statue brought to life, broad shoulders tapering to a defined torso dusted with a fine trail of dark hair that arrowed down toward the waistband of his slacks. I traced it with my fingertips, feeling the heat radiating from his skin, the rapid rise and fall of his breaths under my touch, the subtle flex of muscles honed from years of discipline and power. “You’re staring,” he teased, a wicked smile curving his lips as he captured my hand, bringing it to his mouth to kiss my palm, his tongue flicking out to taste the salt of my skin. “Like what you see, love?” “Always,

  • His Dirty Little Secret    Let me unwind you.

Cassidy’s POV“To unbreakable teams,” I echoed, clinking my glass against his, the crystal chime ringing clear and bright in the quiet penthouse, like a bell tolling in a vast, empty cathedral. The Cabernet slid velvety across my tongue—dark cherry notes laced with a subtle hint of oak and black pepper, warming me from the inside out like a slow-burning fire. I took a lingering sip, savoring the richness, my eyes locked on Dante over the rim of the glass. He set his down on the coffee table with a soft clink that echoed faintly against the marble floors, his intense blue gaze pulling me in like an inescapable gravity, deep and unyielding, reflecting the city lights twinkling through the rain-streaked windows beyond. He didn’t sit beside me on the sectional, as I’d half-expected. Instead, he stepped closer, his presence towering over where I lounged against the plush leather cushions, one knee sinking into the seat next to my thigh with deliberate intent. The air between us thickened i

  • His Dirty Little Secret    Big bad CEO toting his girlfriend like a sack of groceries.

Cassidy’s POV Dante was the first to move, as always—decisive, unhesitating, like the world bent to his rhythm. The seatbelt clicked free with a soft, definitive *snap*, unnervingly loud in the sudden hush of the garage after the engine’s dying purr. He stepped out of the Audi, the driver’s door shutting behind him with a muted *thud* that echoed faintly off the vast concrete walls, rippling through the cavernous space like a whisper in a cathedral. For a second, I just watched him through the rain-flecked windshield—the way he straightened his navy wool jacket with a casual tug, rolling his broad shoulders once like he was shedding the weight of the drive, the emotional minefield of campus, my mother’s looming shadow. Streetlights from above filtered down in hazy shafts, gilding his dark hair, casting long shadows across the polished floor where puddles from earlier cars gleamed like spilled mercury. Then my door opened with a hydraulic sigh, cool air rushing in like a sigh from t

  • His Dirty Little Secret    Dangerous habit.

Cassidy’s POV His words settled over me slowly, not like a sudden revelation, but like something warm poured into the cracks I’d been pretending didn’t exist. Safe harbor. The phrase echoed, expanding in my chest until it ached. No one had ever framed love that way for me before. With my mother, affection had always been transactional—bestowed when I complied, withdrawn when I strayed. Approval wrapped in silk but sharpened with conditions. With my stepfather, it had been quieter, colder. A nod across a dinner table. A check signed with expectations attached. Safety, to them, had never been something I could rest in. It was something I had to earn, again and again, by becoming smaller, quieter, more palatable. With Dante, it felt… chosen. Not because I behaved. Not because I fit a mold. But because he saw me—fractured edges and all—and stepped closer instead of away. I turned my head slightly, the city blurring past the rain-streaked window, but my focus was on him. On the way t

  • His Dirty Little Secret    You're shaking.

Cassidy’s POVFor the first few blocks, neither of us spoke. The city unfolded around us like a living painting in hyperdrive: golden streetlights bleeding into the deepening twilight, their pools of light fracturing on rain-slicked streets; neon signs from late-night cafes flickering to life in electric blues and pinks, promising greasy comfort to exhausted night owls; the distant honk of taxis slicing through the evening hush like impatient screams. Reflections danced across the windshield—headlights streaking like comets, the occasional flash of a billboard advertising some obscenely expensive luxury watch Dante probably already owned three of, tucked away in that walk-in safe he called a closet. The wipers swished lazily now and then, batting away the first tentative drops of rain that had been threatening all evening.I stared straight ahead, my hands folded tightly in my lap, fingers twisting the hem of my soft gray sweater until the wool frayed slightly under my nails. My thoug

  • His Dirty Little Secret    Choose family or us?

Cassidy’s POV “Okay,” he said calmly, though tension thrummed beneath his composure like a coiled spring. “Then we adapt. We don’t panic—we pivot. Tell me everything she said.” I pulled back slightly, just enough to meet his eyes, my face streaked with tears. His expression was a mask of controlled intensity, but the worry etched in his brow, the way his thumb gently wiped at my cheeks, betrayed the depth of his concern. “It was vague—but that’s what scares me. ‘Finalizing our return earlier than planned. We’ll be home in two weeks. Excited to see you—family dinner first night back? We need to talk when you have a moment.’ It’s not just catching up, Dante. Mom doesn’t say ‘we need to talk’ unless it’s serious. What if someone saw us? Or Victor’s noticed your absences? I can’t… I can’t lose you.” The last words broke on a sob, fresh tears spilling over. “Not after everything. Not when this feels like the only thing that’s real.” Dante’s eyes darkened with a fierce protectiveness,
