🌹~LITTLE BIRD~🌹

ā€œSantiago is a fucking bastard. No wonder Gigi said he’s an ass. She never told me why. But now, I get it.ā€

Jessica is even more furious than I am. I came home late last night and crept into her bed, lying beside her. I didn't wake her up, but she opened her eyes and reached for me, cuddling me. I slept shortly after like nothing bad had happened. This morning, as I narrated the entire ordeal, Jessica’s face turned red with fury.

She lets out a heavy sigh, shaking her head. ā€œI still can't believe it. Santiago... a literal human trafficker. Thank God you got a bad feeling and looked at that dresser. If you hadn't smashed that lamp over his head, Elena... I can't even think about it. I'm just glad you escaped.ā€

ā€œMe too.ā€

My throat still aches from where Santiago's fingers had clamped down on my skin. I didn’t tell her the whole truth. That when I was fighting for my life, Santiago felt weak compared to the monster that had pinned me down in my own home two nights ago. I never told her that my stalker has been ruining my mind. He’s my deepest, darkest secret.

ā€œYou sure you have everything?ā€ Jessica asks, scanning the room.

ā€œYes. It’s just for the weekend. I’ll be back by Monday.ā€

We walk to the living room to grab my luggage. My suitcase is sitting exactly where I left it the night before, right by the door. But my breath hitches when I see what is resting on top of it. A wrapped gift box.

ā€œOh Jess, you shouldn't have bothered with gifts.ā€

Jessica glances at me hysterically, shrugging her shoulders. ā€œI didn't get that. I noticed it on your bag when I came out of the bathroom this morning. I thought it was yours. I was sure you put it there.ā€

My heart plummets into my stomach. ā€œNo. It's not mine. I didn't put it there.ā€

Jessica’s eyes widen. ā€œThen who did?ā€

My hands tremble as I reach out. The silk ribbon slides away effortlessly. I lift the lid, and the air completely leaves my lungs. Resting inside the box are my high heels. The ones I left behind at Santiago's house when I fled for my life.

Jessica recognizes them instantly. ā€œDidn’t you say you forgot those at Santiago’s?ā€

ā€œWhat is it doing here? I’m sure I left them there. I didn't even rememberā€”ā€

ā€œIs that blood?ā€ Jessica crunches her nose, staring at the shoes with disgust.

I turn the heels in my hand and notice they’re not clean. The patent leather is completely splattered with dark, crusted, drying blood. The sharp stilettos are caked in tissue and gore. A gasp tears from my throat as I stumble backward, dropping the heels and the box. It clatters against the floor.

He was there last night. He was inside Jessica's apartment while we slept. He knows exactly where I am.

ā€œElena? Oh my god, what is that?!ā€ Jessica cries out, staring at the gory heels. ā€œSantiago is a sick fuck for real. He sent back those heels. Whose blood is that? How did he break in?ā€ She rushes to the door and yanks it. ā€œIt’s locked. We need to tell the cops.ā€

ā€œNo,ā€ I blurt out.

Jessica looks surprised at my response. I gather the shoes and shove them back into the box, walking over to the trashcan by the kitchen and dumping the entire box inside.

ā€œWhat’s going on?ā€ Jessica asks, already panicking.

ā€œSantiago didn't send back the shoes. I know who did. And I’m afraid he might have hurt Santiago.ā€

ā€œWhat are you talking about?ā€

ā€œJess, lock your doors.ā€ I start to panic too, grabbing my suitcase. ā€œLock everything. Change the deadbolts. I need to leave right now. If I’m gone, he won't bother you.ā€

ā€œWhat? No, Elena, we need to call the police. Who is he?ā€

ā€œNo. No police! It won’t help. I don't know who he is. But he’s here because of me. I can’t put you in harm's way, Jess. If I stay here, I don’t know what he’ll do to you. I have to get to the airport.ā€

Jessica insists on driving me, refusing to let me take an Uber. In tears, I finally tell her the entire truth during our ride to the airport. By the time she drops me off at the terminal, I am a shell of a person. I can tell my best friend is disappointed that I didn't trust her enough to tell her about my stalker, but she didn't want to pass blames. Jessica believes passing blames never solves anything. My stomach hurts as I imagine meeting my family.

ā€œI can’t believe I’m going to Claire’s wedding without a plus one. I wish Santiago had killed me. It’s better than letting my family chew off my head.ā€

ā€œI can take the next flight out there and pretend to be your toxic lesbian lover just to give your mother a stroke,ā€ Jessica promises darkly.

ā€œShe’s not going to have a stroke. She’s going to have a fit of laughter because she knows I’m straight. I like dicks, not chicks.ā€

ā€œPeople change.ā€

I sigh. ā€œMaybe I’ll get lucky and sit next to a handsome man who’s willinging to accompany me.ā€

ā€œThis isn't a fairytale, Elena. Just go home and tell them you and Nathan are over.ā€

I let out a depressed sigh. Jessica’s right. I force a brave face, hug her tightly, and beg her to stay safe. She leaves. I check in at the counter. The agent takes one look at my pale face and trembling hands.

ā€œMiss Beaumont?ā€

ā€œYes,ā€ I answer.

ā€œFirst Class. Follow the priority lane.ā€

I do as she says. I just need to get on the plane and put thousands of miles between myself and the monster in the dark. Soon, I’m stepping into the quiet luxury of the first-class cabin. I find my row and slide into my seat, letting my head fall back against the leather.

And then, I feel a shift in the air that pulls me from my chaotic mind. My breath leaves me as I watch a tall man walk into the cabin, and the entire space suddenly feels incredibly small. He is the most captivating, terrifyingly handsome man I have ever seen in my life. He has the kind of chin you can cut glass with. I wonder if he’s some fallen god whose coordinates glitched and dropped him off on earth.

He is wearing a designer black shirt with the top few buttons undone, revealing a glimpse of dark tattoos creeping up his chest and wrapping tightly around his muscular neck. Intricate ink covers his forearms as well.

He’s wearing dark sunglasses, masking his eyes, but his presence alone is suffocating me already. He doesn’t look like a content creator like myself. It’s not like it's written on my forehead that that’s what I do. But you can tell that he looks like power. Real, dangerous power.

Oh Lord, he’s walking toward me.

My heart begins to race. The next thing I know, he’s sitting in the empty seat beside me. Maybe luck has finally looked in my direction at last. I’m sitting next to a handsome man who looks a hundred times better than my ex. He’s perfect.

A reckless idea hits me. My mother is expecting a man on my arm at the wedding. If I show up alone, she’ll dismantle the last shreds of my sanity piece by piece. I swallow the lump of fear in my throat and dare myself to look up at the eighth wonder of the world.

Why not invite him?

Ordinarily, I would've just admired him and not say a word. But today I’m desperate as hell. And desperation makes people reckless. I lean across the small divider separating our seats. I force the most charming, confident smile I’ve ever mustered.

ā€œHi,ā€ I say sweetly, extending my hand toward him. ā€œI'm Elena.ā€

The man doesn’t move. He doesn’t turn his head either. He just sits perfectly still, his unbuttoned shirt faintly shifting with his deep breaths. Maybe he didn't hear me.

ā€œHello,ā€ I try again.

He doesn’t even glance at my outstretched hand. He completely dismisses me, staring straight ahead as if I were nothing but an invisible nuisance. My hand hovers in the air for five humiliating seconds before I slowly pull it back. My cheeks burn with humiliation.

Okay. He is a cold, arrogant prick. But no one ignores me like that.

ā€œWhat’s your problem?ā€ I snap. ā€œYou don't have to be a jerk just because you’re extremely good-looking.ā€

Jesus! Why did I just say that?

He turns to me and my heart sinks into the pit of my stomach. I hold my breath as he takes off his sunglasses smoothly, and when my gaze meets his crystal blue eyes, I have a feeling they look hauntingly familiar.

ā€œHave we… have we met?ā€ I ask, lost in his ocean eyes.

He doesn't respond. He just smirks.

I gulp down, entranced by the size and hardness of his dick. I salivate the second I remember how deep and rough he claimed me at the alleyway. I'm somewhat amazed that he took me out of my room and I had taken his dick in my mouth and not choked to death. He notices my silence and thirsty expression. His cock twitches. He shoves it in my face until the tip connects with my lips. I instinctively turn my face away as pride and humiliation takes over.I am Elena Beaumont. I am not a cock sucker. ā€œNo,ā€ I whisper, my voice trembling. I won't do it. He has stripped me to nothing, but I won't do this. ā€œThere must be something else I can do.ā€A suffocating silence fills the basement. Mask doesn't bother to argue. He slides his rock-hard dick back into his pants. I see the effort he’s taking to keep the beast down, but it doesn't stay down. He pushes it to the side and zips up. I can't help but notice the prominent bulge in his pants. He takes a step back toward the table. He picks up the tr

I know who he is?My mind spins through a blur of faces, voices, and memories. A stalker? Someone from school? Someone who follows me online and knows where I live? I stare into the dark, racking my brain.Nothing. Nothing. Fucking nothing.I hate myself for being a little too excited when I hear his footsteps descending. His presence comes with light, and it fills me with a thrill I can't name. I lift myself off the ground despite how weak I am. I sit up, lean my head against the wall, squinting to get a better look at him. He’s here with the bucket of warm water again—to wash me. ā€œAre you ready?ā€ he asks, kneeling in front of me.ā€œWhy?ā€ My throat hurts. I haven't said a word since he left me. Now that he’s here again, my voice sounds strange to my own ears. ā€œWhy. Do. You. Hate. Me?ā€ā€œYou're confused,ā€ he says quietly, his tone almost conversational. This isn't a weather report. Fucking speak like you're guilty of some heinous crime, you fucking bastard. ā€œThat’s fine,ā€ he continues.

ā€œI don't know who you are,ā€ I say, but it sounds like I’m trying to convince myself. Our gazes lock in silence, a silence that suffocates only me, because he obviously doesn't look like he’s choking. The intimacy of what he had just done burned through my mind. Not even my own mother bathes me. How dare he? I can't make sense of this nightmare. I can't make sense of anything. My voice breaks under the weight of fear. ā€œPlease… just tell me who you are.ā€ā€œLike I said, you already know who I am.ā€ā€œI don't know you.ā€I can't place it. His voice. His posture. Everything about him. I search through my mind, trying so hard to pin his faceless face to any familiar face in my mind, but nothing happens. It’s as if my brain refuses to give him an identity. My heart pitter-patters when I look at him. He’s the only man who’s fucked me thoroughly and left me craving more of him. My mouth parts, but no sound comes out when I feel my core clenching with need. The plastic bottle in my hand crunches b

No. A sob tears from my throat. Mask reaches into the box, pulls out a second slice of pizza, and hovers it over the bin. He looks at me, waiting.ā€œI’m not letting you touch me,ā€ I say defiantly, my voice cracking with anger. The second slice hits the bottom of the trash. He reaches for the third, ignoring my painful cries. I don't know how much more I can endure. Tears cloud my vision, but I see him perfectly in the back of my mind. He’s about to throw the third slice when my defiance breaks.ā€œWait!ā€ I sob. ā€œStop! Please, stop!ā€ Watching the food vanish into the filth is tearing my sanity to shreds. I can’t take another second of this hunger. ā€œOkay! Okay! Wash me! Just please don't throw it all away!ā€Slowly, he turns his head toward me. I can feel that vicious smirk return.ā€œGood girl.ā€I hate him. I hate that he made me say it. I hate that my body is so desperate for food that I would surrender even this small piece of dignity I had managed to preserve. Nothing else matters now, no

Mask is every nightmare you pray never finds you. But I can't help from running into him in my sleep. I tell myself it’s the hatred that’s burning inside like an unquenchable inferno. That loathing has been the only thing keeping me warm enough to stay alive in this cold where he dumped me.I don’t know how long I sit, shaking like a leaf, but I'm glad I’m no longer as thirsty as I was. Even though my stomach is growling, water is all I can think about. When will my next sip come?Back in nursing school, they taught us that the human body can survive much longer without food than without water. I've read of a man who fasted for 382 days. He basically survived from consuming water, tea, and some supplements. He didn't eat solid food. My point is that he didn't die.So you see that hydration is essential for almost every function in the body. Without enough water, your blood volume drops, your organs struggle, and eventually, your body begins to shut down.I never thought I’d understand

  • His Hidden Obsession Ā Ā Ā Chapter 37: No Way Out

When you're in the darkness for too long, time loses all meaning. I don't know exactly how long it’s been since the chaotic incident in the woods. Maybe a few days. Maybe a week. I don't know how long I've been held captive—blindfolded, cold, and naked.Ever since Mask smothered my screams and plunged me into blackness, I have been kept in this airless void. Suspended in a suffocating silence where my only reassurance is the steady rise and fall of my own chest. I haven't seen him since.I’m not well, but I’m alive. That is the only thought keeping my fractured mind from dissolving entirely. There are no windows. No sunlight. No clocks. Nothing to tell me whether it’s morning or midnight. Just darkness and silence. The first time I woke up in this void, I wondered if Claire found Nathan. I wondered how broken she would be, and the thought made me sick with sorrow. What happened to the other bodies? The police must be swarming the estate by now. How is Grandma doing? Have I been report
