I opened my mouth, but no sound managed to come out. I sometimes forget that my child is very smart, and at circumstances like this, it's very evident.

"Yes," Luciano responded, causing me to snap my gaze at him.

Lucille excitedly gasped, but I quickly shut down her excitement.

"He's not," I said. The two of them looked at me and tilted their head to the side. At that moment, they really looked like a father-and-daughter pair.

I cleared my throat and straightened my posture. "He's not your dad. He's just grandpa Ferri's friend who'll be staying with us for a couple of days."

Lucille frowned. "But I heard Grandpa Ferri said that I look exactly like my dad! Does that mean that mister and I don't look alike?”

She kneeled and walked over to her dad, bringing their faces close to each other. Then, they gazed at me with the same expression. "Don't we look alike, mommy?"

'You do. You really fucking do that it's quite scary,' I wanted to say, but I played it off and just chuckled
