OLIVIA
"You did what?!" Galen’s voice was raised as he got up abruptly.
"I'm sorry." I said, burying my face in my hands.
"I can’t fucking believe this. It’s been less than a week and you’re already screwed this up?" He put his hands akimbo as he raged. "Is this what you wanted? To embarrass me again?"
My eyes shot up to meet his, blood pumped with rage boiled inside of me, as I took in his words.
"No. I have never wanted to embarrass you." I countered.
"Then why do this now, when the companies just joined?" He raged. His eyes flickered as he stared at me, and then, his lips curved into a smile.
"That’s it, isn't it?" Galen quipped, "You’re trying to screw us over?"
"Huh?"
"You and your god forsaken family are trying to milk us dry off… right?"
My hand collided with his cheek so quickly that I barely had time to stop myself. He seemed taken aback as he stared at me.
"Don’t fucking talk about my family like that!" I warned, his face was red with rage as he pummeled out of our room.
"Where are you going?" I asked, as I hurried behind him.
"Let's see what both our families think about what you’ve just done.
"No. Please no." I begged, yet my pleas fell on deaf ears. He sped off down the stairs even though I kept tugging at his shoulder. Our parents were having coffee downstairs, celebrating the success of officially uniting both companies.
"Oh, and there they are." My father spoke with pure excitement. "You’re the stars. The new CEOs."
"Olivia ruined everything." Galen’s voice sounded out those words with malice. Cups of coffee were placed on the table as everyone got up.
"What do you mean, son?"
Despite my obvious panic and the looks of horror, I kept throwing at Galen. He didn't stop himself. He described every painful detail of what I had told him. He broke down everything I did and continued to belittle me and accuse me of sabotaging our marriage.
He however did not accuse my parents of wanting to steal from them. He knew that the accusation did not make any sense. We were just as wealthy as they were and our company was just as successful. But hearing him talk about my failures in such a way, was like a knife to the heart.
My dad flew across the room and slapped me hard across the face before anyone could react.
The blow had rung up old bitter memories that I had wished to bury forever.

GALEN
Everything had unfolded so quickly.
Olivia getting slapped was the last thing that would ever cross my mind. I didn't think her father could do such a thing, especially not in front of all of us. The media and journalists standing in our compound did nothing to listen to the guilt I felt. I watched her, my wife, walk across the front patio as moved to address everyone.
I was never one to pity her.
Over the better part of 5 years I had spent crafting the perfect revenge, wishing her nothing but pain and suffering. Wanting her to feel the same pain I had felt when she betrayed me years ago.
Yet today, when her father hit her, it was like a protective response had taken over me. I felt like my heart had been sliced in half.
The horror in her eyes was haunting.
I knew my wife. I knew her. I knew about her family and everything that happened to her.
Once upon a time, Olivia once told me everything and I did the same. Once upon a time she was the girl I wanted to marry with all my heart. It was the wish I made every night before I went to bed. And now, I had that wish. It was fulfilled. Yet I wanted none of it. She was not happy with me.
She was miserable.
And so was I.
"Ladies and gentlemen, my husband and I have an important announcement."
Cameras clicking and a slightly murmuring crowd occupied the air. From a distance, I could spot Jessie, the friend she’d told me about. I remembered her from back in high school and I never really liked her. She was the one that had pushed us to this. I stood at the side of my wife as I held her hand and forced a smile on my face.
I looked at her but her eyes were fixed right ahead. I couldn't help but feel that I had messed it up. This was the last outcome I had expected.
"My husband and I love each other very much. And now, a testament of our love will come to this world 9 months from now." Olivia said, reciting every little thing that her mother had told her while in the house. Suddenly, the journalists began asking questions, barely letting her finish. but she pushed through and she stared at everyone when she finally announced…
"I am pregnant."
The crowd erupted!

Olivia’s POV
Galen and I walked back into the house, followed by both our families. It had been a long day and all I wanted to do was sleep.
My parents excused themselves and retired to the guest quarters soon after, and I was left behind with my husband while Galen's parents were away from the media reporters.
There was a strange silence between us.
My heart was heavy as I thought about what had happened. Tears pricked my eyes as I turned to look at him. What I felt was unimaginable pain.
"I’m sorry." He let out, looking at me.
I felt like he was mocking me, the pain in his eyes did not seem sincere.
"Are you happy now?"
"No. That’s not what I wanted to happen.’ Yet I didn't want to hear any of it. All I wanted right now was for Galen to feel as much pain as I did. To know what it felt to suffer like this.
I stopped in my tracks in the middle of the stairs and looked back at him. That was it. The perfect dagger to his heart.
"Hey, darling." I faked a smile while I walked back to him.
I got close, our faces only inches apart as I looked up at him. "Do you remember back in highschool when you accused me of sleeping with our best friend?"
Pain swam behind his eyes the second I brought it up. It was as if he knew what I was going to say.
"It wasn’t just him. I slept with your brother too!"
His face paled…
OLIVIA:Galen followed me up the stairs like a man on fire. I've never seen him that agitated before. There had been a mixture of feelings on his face before he finally settled to anger and disbelief. I entered our bedroom, and he was right behind me. He slammed the door shut, I turned to look at him, startled. "What do you want?'’ I shrugged and walked past him. "How dare you?!" He bellowed. "Tell me that isn't true. You lied to me. You couldn’t have done that!" His voice was almost breaking. "Why would I lie about something like that?" he gasped. "This is the answer you always wanted, Galen. You asked the question for 5 years and you’ve always hated me for not clarifying it. This is the truth now. It wasn't just Ashern. It was Philip as well." horror struck his eyes as he stepped back. He looked at me as though I had grown two heads. That look of pain in his eyes was exactly what I desired. Yet, it didn't feel so good. Seeing him in pain put me in pain. Why did I feel this way
GALEN:“I still can’t believe we’re doing this.” I rolled my eyes as I listened to Olivia complain. “This is way too early. Everyone is going to be suspicious.”“And isn’t that the fucking plan, darling?” She shot me a look before we got into the mall. I had already noticed a man following us from a few blocks back. “Are you sure coming here without our security detail is what’s best?”“For the last fucking time, Olivia, YES!”She infuriated me. Hearing her voice was like the descent of hell. She was like a little kid who couldn’t fucking shut up. I heard the clicking of a camera in the distance, and finally, our plan was working. We entered the boutique in quite a hurry. My wife was worried about something so silly. I kissed the top of her head, and then stood behind her as she picked out some clothes. A Lot of the shop attendants were already throwing glances at us. Olvia smiled, as she showed me a small baby apron.“Yes honey,” I smiled, “this would be perfect.”An attendant ca
OLIVIA:My husband is a fucking jerk!I can’t believe he had the guts to abandon me!Was it something I said? I didn't fucking care. As I entered our house, I tossed my handbag on the chair before climbing up the stairs in a hurry. I was going to give him a piece of my mind. “Galen!” I called out at the top of my voice. Suddenly I began hearing noises coming from our room. A feeling of déjà vu washes over me. As I open the door my mind refuses to process what my eyes are seeing. “Jessie?” I tilt my head as I look at her. Her legs were shamelessly spread apart and my husband was on top of her. They were both naked and they didn't even bother to cover up. my heart pounded in my chest and I felt a lump forming in my throat. It wasn't jealousy. It was humiliating. We were married for crying out loud. I stood there like a deer caught in the headlights. “Well, well, look who decided to come home early.” he snared as he looked me up and down. I could not understand his audacity. My
OLIVIA:“I just don’t know.” I let out. “You were once my best friend too, but right now there’s too much baggage between us.”“You mean because of Galen?”“Yes. He hates you.”“And do you hate me?” He asks, his eyes sinking into mine. I followed the trail of his words and figured out what he really meant. I didn’t like it. “I have never hated you, and it’s not your fault for what Galen believes. But Ashern, you have to understand that I am a married woman now.”“And I know that. It’s not like I'm confessing feelings. Or asking you to sleep with me. I simply just want to be a friend to you.” I thought about it for a moment. It did not make sense that he wanted to be my friend. He knew that Galen hated him. “Well, you were right. My husband is being a jerk.” My shoulders dropped. “It’s high time I stopped letting him decide things for me.”“Atta girl.” Ashern cooed, causing me to laugh. “So tell me, really, how do you feel?” I paused for a moment. The question sunk within me, and
OLIVIA:Galen spoke in grunts, scoffs, and angry glances. Surprisingly, I had expected this to be my new peace. Yet it turned out the opposite. I wanted things to go back to normal. Even if it meant we would be fighting every now and then. Right now, my husband avoids any argument and barely speaks to me. He was mad at me and I understood that. But I also had a right to be angry at him for what he had done. “They are calling us downstairs.” Galen said, as he stood across our bedroom door. I shook my head as I followed him behind. A feeling of déjà vu sets within me as we walked down the stairs and found both our families waiting for us. “It's started.” my mother said with a disapproving look. Galen and I settled into the sofa while our families threw ugly glances at us. A news bulletin popped up on National TV in the gossip sector. Almost everyone in the country subscribed to this. On the TV was an image of my husband punching Ashern. Just the headlines. It was like a comedy
GALEN:I watched, feeling a lump in my throat as Olivia laughed with Jessie. Things had not gone how I’d hoped. My mistake blew in my face and now, my wife was back to being best friends with my mistress. Jessie smiled to Liv before her eyes caught a glimpse of mine for a split second. She winked at me, before excusing herself and walking to the kitchen. I retired to my bedroom, already tired of the sickening scene before me. I needed a break from all of this madness. “Aren’t you just a piece of meat..” someone came up behind me. Her hands slithered across my torso from behind before cupping my dick. “Jessie, what the fuck are you doing?” I turned around as I grabbed her hand and pushed her away gently. “My wife is downstairs. Have you lost your fucking mind?” I said between gritted teeth.“Oh come on… handsome,” She cooed as she took off her top, “this can be a quick one.”She pushes me down on the bed, surprising me with how freakishly strong she is. “Jessie, not fucking now.” I
OLIVIA:Jessie has been a great help. I don't know what I'd do without her. However, right now, even as the media crew wheels their equipment into our house, there is a standoff between Ashern and my husband. They've stopped fighting, but that doesn't mean everything is fine. “Is he telling the truth?” Galen asks, his eyes still on Ashern, "did you really sleep with most of my friends?"“He's lying, he's always lying.”“What do I have to gain by lying about this, Olivia?” Ashern shot up.“Destroying this marriage. Revenge because Galen punched you. Your pride and ego. This is just a few.”“The interview is ready.” Jessie comes up to me, breaking my concentration. I looked at Galen, who was still staring at me like I was a whole different person. “Let's go.” He spoke, and I followed behind him without another word. It felt like I was walking on eggshells. The interview commenced in no time, and it was finally time to put up the act and save this fake marriage. “So Galen, how's marr
GALEN:“You were sleeping with her!” Olivia announced, as she slammed the door shut. “What! What are you talking about?’’“You know exactly what I'm talking about. You slept with Jessie. That’s why she’s always disappearing when we’re talking and coming back all sweaty.’’ The pain behind her eyes was evident. "Are you fucking serious? That's what you want to talk about?""Don't deny it, Galen.""I'm not going to fucking deny. She is 100 times a better woman than you can ever be. She's not a slut like you are.” Olivia gasped. I saw the tears for me in her eyes as she stepped back. She looked at me as if I had grown two heads. “What did you just say?”“You heard me. What went on back there was my worst nightmare. You didn't only sleep with Ashern. It was almost everyone else. You had the guts to stand here and judge me?”“What? G..Galen..” she let out in between tears. “I now know what you did, Olivia, and I don't regret leaving you five years ago. You do not deserve to be loved.
