"Rosemary, enough! Do not make a scene in this house!" Calvin’s voice boomed, cutting her off harshly. His dark eyes gleamed with unmasked intimidation—not a shred of care remained.

He turned away toward the hall, annoyance plain on his face. "Servants! Take Rosemary back to her room now!"

Rosemary let out a hollow, bitter laugh—born of the deepest ruin of her heart. Her chest heaved, straining against the storm of emotion threatening to burst free. Tears streamed down cheeks still flushed from his slap, yet her gaze burned with equal parts grief and loathing.

"Calvin, you are the most despicable man I’ve ever known!" she shrieked, voice raw and shrill. "What do you take me for?! A wooden doll with no feelings?! For three years I loved you truly, and I was nothing but a toy to you! Just you wait… I will make you pay for every cruel thing you’ve done!"

Far from being afraid, Calvin only offered that same arrogant, dismissive smirk. He folded his arms across his chest, looking her up and down with pure mockery.

"You want revenge?" he replied, cold and biting. "Very well. Go ahead. I’ll be waiting to see what kind of vengeance a weak, helpless woman like you could ever hope to carry out!"

He then shifted his gaze to the two middle-aged maids frozen in the doorway, pale and trembling. The tension filling the room had paralyzed them.

"Why are you just standing there?!" Calvin roared, his tone sharp and commanding. "Must I show you how to drag this woman back to her room?!"

One maid stepped forward quickly, head bowed, too afraid to meet her mistress’s blazing eyes.

"Madam… please forgive us. Come… let’s go back to your room now," she whispered, voice trembling, gently taking Rosemary’s arm to lead her away.

Rosemary tried to wrench free, but her strength was spent. As she was led slowly down the hall, she looked back—fixing her gaze on Calvin, still standing there in all his pride.

"Calvin! You damned man! I hate you with every breath I have!" she screamed, pouring out every bit of pain eating away at her.

Calvin ignored her curses. He turned to the head maid standing closest to him, his tone firm, absolute, unyielding.

"Bibi, listen to me carefully," he said, eyes hardening. "Do not let Rosemary do anything foolish that could harm the child she carries! From today onward, every meal must be prepared with the very best nutrition—nothing must interfere with this pregnancy!"

The older woman looked at him with doubt and pity. As a mother herself, she knew well that a mother’s emotional state shaped the life growing inside her.

"But… Sir," she ventured, hesitantly speaking up. "A mother must feel happy and at peace for her baby to grow strong. If Madam remains locked away, under this distress…"

"Do I need to teach you how to care for my wife?!" Calvin cut in sharply, his voice dropping an octave—dangerous, threatening. "Obey my orders and do not presume to give me advice!"

The maid shivered in fear. "Yes, Sir! I understand!"

She hurried to catch up with the others guiding Rosemary. They led their mistress back to the grand bedroom—now nothing more than a cold, isolated prison cell.

The heavy door clicked shut. The sound of the key turning from outside rang out clear and final, sealing Rosemary inside.

"Madam… please be patient. For now, you must stay here, for your own good," the maid said gently, trying to soothe her as she sat weak and defeated on the edge of the white-sheeted bed.

Rosemary looked up, her eyes burning with rage. Breath came in ragged gasps as she struggled to contain the storm within.

"You think I’m some statue, just to obey that devil’s orders?!" she snapped, a bitter, hopeless smile touching her lips. Her hands clenched the bedsheets tight, seeing his face in her mind—the man who had destroyed everything.

She pressed a fist hard against her still-flat stomach, her gaze filled with nothing but venom.

"Just you wait…" she whispered, so cold it sent chills down the maid’s spine. "I’ll make this baby vanish. I will never let this child be born—only to become a tool for that monster’s revenge!"

"Hurry—don’t waste another second!" Rosemary cried, clutching her rounded belly as she half-ran through the sudden drizzle soaking the café courtyard. The burly man held a tall black umbrella over her and opened the passenger door of a silver sedan parked haphazardly at the curb. Ignoring the sudden dizziness and sharp twinge in her side, Rosemary slid in. The engine roared, tires screeching hard on wet asphalt, and the car sped off into the deepening night. Her mind was in chaos. For three months she’d built an impenetrable wall around her heart, convincing herself her love for Calvin was dead—replaced by cold, untouchable hatred. But hearing he lay dying, critically injured while risking his life to protect her family’s documents, that wall of ice cracked wide open."How was he even on that cliff road?!" she asked, voice trembling, staring hard at Davian’s guard driving at breakneck speed."Mr. Calvin learned a former business partner of his father’s planned to blackmail Mr. Wijaya

"Don’t waste time—get in!" The burly man snapped, shoving Calvin roughly until he stumbled into the backseat of the black sedan. The door slammed shut with a deafening crash. Before Calvin could twist around or speak, two more guards on either side clamped cold iron handcuffs around his wrists. The car surged forward, speeding away from the quiet beach road toward the highway.Calvin didn’t fight. The man who once radiated untouchable dominance now sat slumped, surrendering completely. His head and shirt were still damp from the water Rosemary had thrown in his face minutes before. His gaze was empty, staring out the window as coconut trees blurred past. Part of him felt left behind in that little café—with the woman who’d just shattered his pride with truths too painful to bear."Where are you taking me?" he asked, voice thin and ragged, stripped of every trace of his usual command. The driver glanced back. "Mr. Wijaya is waiting at his main residence. The man you nearly destroyed ha

"How dare you set foot here!" Rosemary shrieked, seizing the glass pitcher of cold water from the counter and hurling its contents straight into the face of the man kneeling before her.Ice-cold water drenched Calvin’s face and his once-fine, now-frayed shirt. He did not flinch. He made no move to wipe the water dripping from his nose, nor to defend himself. His red-rimmed eyes, ringed with dark shadows, remained fixed on her—no arrogance, no fury, only bleak, bottomless despair and regret. The soft chime of the café door faded from her ears, drowned out by the thunder of her own heart. Every terrible memory she’d buried deep these past three months surged to the surface, poisoning the sea air that had slowly been healing her."Rosemary… please," he whispered, his voice ragged, nearly lost beneath the crash of waves outside. His whole body trembled violently on the cold wooden floor. "Look at me… please, just listen…""Get out right now before I call the neighbors and have them drag y

"Let go of my hand, Calvin!" Rosemary screamed, yanking her arm with all her strength, trying to break free from his iron grip. The sound of rustling fabric and ragged breathing cut through the night’s silence in the dim room. Calvin stood firm in the darkness, his eyes burning sharp with a tangled mix of rage and despair. His hold on her wrist didn’t loosen—not even a little—only tightened until her pale skin turned red."You never know when to stop, do you, Rosemary!" he hissed, his low voice trembling. "Even after your body nearly gave out, after they just pulled that IV from your hand—you still try to steal my key and run away?!""What did you expect me to do—wait for you to tear me apart piece by piece, you devil?!" she shot back, defiant. Her eyes met his directly, no trace of fear left. "Kill me then! Kill me and this baby if you can’t stand to let us go! Because as long as I draw breath, I’ll keep looking for a way out of this hell!""Enough!" He roared, shoving her hand back

"Hold her head—quick!" Davian snapped, shoving the master bedroom door open with his shoulder and ushering two rushing nurses behind him.The grand room had descended into chaos. Calvin stood frozen at the bedside, chest heaving, staring down at his own cold, trembling hands. On the thick mattress, Rosemary lay rigid as a corpse. Her face, pale as paper, starkly contrasted with her dark hair spilling messily across the pillows.Davian hurried to her side, checking the pulse at her wrist—faint, thready, and erratic. He looked up at Calvin, eyes blazing with unbridled fury."You’ve truly lost your mind, Calvin!" He slapped Calvin’s hand away as it reached for her forehead. "Look at what you’ve done to her! She’s severely dehydrated, burning up with fever—and you still lock her up like an animal?!""I never meant for her to faint!" Calvin cut in, defensive, though his voice shook with undeniable panic. "She tried to sneak out in the middle of night through the garden! I was only restrain

"Come now, Madam—just a little more," the maid whispered, her hand trembling as she held out a spoonful of savory porridge to Rosemary’s pale lips.Rosemary didn’t resist. She opened her mouth slowly, chewing and swallowing in silence. Her eyes no longer held the wild panic or hysterical screams of two days prior. A strange calm radiated from her—a calm of surrender, carefully crafted as a mask. Deep down, every spoonful she swallowed was not submission to Calvin, but fuel. She needed strength. She had to gather every last scrap of it if she wanted to get out of this hell alive. In the corner of the room, two burly guards watched her every move with rigid attention.
