Laya POV
I can’t sleep, I keep tossing and turning and quite frankly Jake’s insistent molly codling is starting to drive me nuts.
I get that he’s worried about me and the baby, but this isn’t the time to get distracted and overwhelmed with such trivial things as sleep and rest.
So against his better judgment Jake doesn’t utter a word as he watches me pacing up and down the room, I’m so deep in thought that I don’t even notice when I slam right into his chest with a thud.
He instantly grabs both my shoulders as he forces me to look up at him,
“You need to stop, first of all, you’re about to wear out the floor, second of all pacing is not going to solve your problem with Demetrius, and thirdly if the likes of Dax is here with Demetrius then it can only mean one thing, the brothers are not as opposed to shifters as they would like to have us believe and maybe this whole virus bullshit

Laya POV My eyes are on Jake, he’s shivering and his entire body is a sweating mess. Laya POV Suddenly I’m met with a burning torch against the wall, in front of it lies an impenetrable wooden door and I find myself gasping as a shiver runs down my spine. Laya POV Stumbling forward I couldn't believe what I was actually seeing right before me, my heart thudded and pounded so hard against my chest that I was sure that it would explode.
