“You’re missing a lot at the party.”

I hadn’t expected any company in this secret corner, so seeing Zac standing in front of me snapped me back to reality. My cheeks were damp with tears, and I quickly wiped them with both of my hands.

Zac approached the empty space beside me. He sat quietly, staring blankly at the garden bushes for a moment before asking,

“What are you doing here all alone?”

I didn’t want to cause any disturbance or drama that would ruin the beautiful celebration. I bowed my head in shame. It felt bad to lie to Zac.

“Nothing… I’m just taking in some fresh air.”

Something pressed against my chest. The guilt had already struck me from within. I wore a faint smile though inside, I was slowly crumbling.

“What a coincidence then!” He grinned back. “It felt cramped inside, so I came here for a bit.”

He then turned his body toward me, excitedly gesturing with his hands and face.

“Have you seen the lobster earlier?” he asked.

“Yes. I had some. It was great,” I answered,
