Chapter 14 One Corpse, Two Lives

The agony resulted in Hunter massaging his forehead as he leaned against the wall for support.

With Emlyn's experiences described in black and white on those letters, the realization that Emlyn had not been doing a solo performance for the past eleven years dawned on him. He had been a major character in her life story.

Emlyn had gone through her entire journey from a girl into adulthood with him. Her eyes, initially gleaming with naive affection, had trailed after him persistently, even when they had drifted and her eyes had filled with trepidation. Eventually, his inhospitality had eroded the love she felt for him and she had become just as frosty as he had always been.

He had personally sent her love to the guillotine.

Currently, however, he clutched onto the remnants of her love as crippling affliction overtook him.

Hunter left Elizabeth's Garden and stepped on the accelerator when he was in the car as he sped towards Number One South Residence.
