A rare gem to find

[ Denise's POV ]

The wheels of my bicycle made a lot of noise as I walked down the street with it. I had a frown on my face because of my encounter with Mavis.

I stopped my bicycle and puffed out an air from my mouth, remembering what transpired between us in his office.

"Did you just flip me over your shoulder and punch me?" He asked angrily after he got back to his feet.

I walked closer to him with so much anger boiling inside me. "You should be thankful I didn't cut off those hands of yours!!" I said, raising my voice at him.

"You must think I'm one of those desperate women who throw themselves at you, sorry to burst your bubble Mr. CEO, but I'm not one of your sluts. I would rather remain jobless for the rest of my remaining days on earth than sell my body to you!!" I shouted at him again.

My body was something I don't joke with. I hate it when anyone from the opposite sex tries to touch my body, even my boyfriend Jake hasn't touched me ever since we started dating because I made it clear to him that we can only have sex after we get married.

"Do you know I can sue you for this?" He asked with rage of anger, but I looked at him and sniggers.

"You can sue me if you want to, but I don't fucking care!!, and you can also eat your company as well!!" I shouted.

I'm sure he was called off guard by my action because he didn't do or say anything until I left his company.

I tightened my fist after remembering what happened inside his office. I should have done more than just a punch and a flip over the shoulder, I thought to myself.

I was still battling with the idea of going back to Starlight food company to punch his face again for touching my breast when someone tapped me from behind.

I turned around and saw Bella trying to catch her breath. "What are you doing here?" I asked her, because I know for sure that the location of Starlight food company is far from my neighborhood. Yes, I and Bella live in the same neighborhood.

"What do you mean by what I'm doing here? Where else can I be?" She asked. And that was when I took a minute to look around and I discovered I was already back in my neighborhood without knowing.

Guess thinking about that annoying man made the journey back to my neighborhood faster. "Why were you in deep thought? I have been calling your name, but you were lost in your thoughts to hear me" Bella said.

Since I didn't hear her, I guess she had run down to where I was, just to bring me back from my thoughts. No wonder she was trying to catch her breath just now.

I smiled at Bella and said. "I'm sorry Bella, it is not going to happen again". I was praying inside of me that she shouldn't ask me any question about my interview because I wasn't ready to talk about that arrogant man that calls himself Mavis.

But my prayers weren't answered because the next thing Bella asked when she opened her mouth was "How was the interview? You passed, right?" She asked with a smile.

If she knew what I did to the CEO of Starlight food company, she wouldn't be smiling so happily. I let out a sigh and said. "Let's just go over to your place" I said.

I wasn't ready to go home yet, even if what I did to Mavis .C. Brown was the right thing to do, it was still embarrassing to tell my mom and sister that I did not pass the interview.

"Is everything ok?" Bella asked.

"I will tell you everything when we get to your house" I said, and then her eyes met with the broken handle of my bicycle and she gasp.

"What happened to your bicycle?" She asked with open eyes, indicating how surprised she was to find a part of my bicycle broken, because she also knew how I cherished it.

I smiled sadly and said. "It was an accident". And just hearing the word accident, Bella began checking if I was hurt.

"Are you hurt? Who was the mad fellow that hit you? Should I take you to the hospital?" Bella asked with a rush.

That's Bella for you. She cares about me a lot and doesn't joke with me. We might be in the same age, but she was like a second mother to me.

Her priority is to see me happy. I could vividly remember when we were still teenagers, Bella stole from her mom's purse to buy medicines for me when I was extremely sick and my mom couldn't afford the medicines the pharmacy prescribed for me.

It was sad that I made my best friend do that, but she told me it was nothing, that she was ready to do anything to make me happy, and that was when I realized how blessed I was to have Bella as a best friend, she is a rare gem to find.

"No one hitted me Bella. I kept my bicycle by the road side and an annoying man ran over it, that's why it's broken" I said and Bella let out a sigh of relief.

"That's good to know then. I thought someone hit you with his or her car or motorcycle, I was already in for a fight" She said, folding her knuckles and I smiled.

"Your best friend is hungry, did you prepare anything at home?" I asked her, still smiling.

"No I didn't, but I have some sandwiches left inside the fridge, you can have all of it" She said.

"Thank you so much Bella," I said, smiling happily.

Because I was anxious to go for the interview, I didn't have breakfast before leaving the house and as such, the worms in my stomach had already started singing.

There was food at home, but going home now wasn't what I wanted. I have to clear my head and thankfully, Bella had some sandwiches to share. That will be okay for me, since I'm not the foodie type.

"Let's go to your house," I said.

"Yes we should. And you will also tell me how your interview went because I'm sure you passed the interview" Bella said giggling happily.

But little did she know that her best friend didn't get the chance to be interviewed, talk more of passing the interview.
