"The host's request has been received. The passage back to the original world will be activated in five days."

At the same time, the screen at the hospital waiting area was showing Luna Ackerman's interview from the night before.

"Dr. Ackerman, congratulations on winning the most prestigious award in the medical field. Would you like to say a few words?"

The woman on the stage had long hair and a curvy figure. She accepted the trophy and looked at the audience. She carried an air that would make people keep their distance.

"The person I'm most grateful to is my husband, Noah Gosling."

She smiled when she mentioned my name, making her seem much gentler.

"If it weren't for my husband, I would've died in the rain ten years ago. I owe my life to him, so this trophy is meant for my husband, Noah."

The audience erupted into applause.

"Luna is the youngest woman to win the most prestigious award in the medical field. She's also devoted to her husband."

"I'm so jealous. I heard they were childhood sweethearts."

Luna, who was on the stage, heard those comments as well. She grinned wider and added, "Hence, I've bought Asteroid 27-9 with the prize money and named it after Noah. I want to take this opportunity to declare my love for my husband to the universe."

Luna's eyes sparkled as she spoke, but a bitter smile crossed my face.

Maybe her love for me was genuine, but it was also true that she had fallen in love with the student I had supported.

Ten years ago, I had transmigrated into this novel because I felt sorry for the villain, Luna Ackerman, and wanted to save her.

The 20-year-old me showed up during the darkest time of her life, when she was only 15 years old.

That year, she had witnessed her parents die in a car accident. All her relatives refused to take her in, and I was the one who took her home from the orphanage.

Luna was dependent on me. She never let me do any chores and gave me her entire paycheck after her first month of work. She only wanted to stay by my side as soon as she got off work.

During a car accident, she shielded me with her body without hesitation.

I, who was in the most dangerous passenger seat, was perfectly fine, but Luna stayed in the ICU for a week. She almost lost her hand and couldn't perform surgeries again.

Later, when she proposed to me, I ignored the system's advice and said yes.

I was willing to give up everything just to spend the rest of my life with Luna in the novel.

However, happy endings only existed in fairy tales because they didn't show the dull reality of married life.

A month ago, I had received a pink whip and a USB drive. It contained videos of Luna making out with another man.

I recognized Levi Baker immediately. He had once stayed in the same orphanage as Luna, and he was the underprivileged student I had supported.

I felt a stab in my chest, and the pain was excruciating.

Just then, my phone rang. Levi's provocative voice sounded from the other end of the line. "Noah, it's been a while. You must be surprised to hear from the student you once supported like this."

I remained silent, but he continued smugly, "Of course, there's a lot you don't know. Do you know how much Luna enjoyed herself when she was in bed with me? An old man like you can't satisfy her."

My fingers turned white from how tightly I gripped my phone. I felt as if I had been plunged into a cold, bottomless abyss.

After ending the call, I questioned the system through tears, "Why? Everything has been going so well between Luna and me, and she's been nice to me over the past ten years. Why would she cheat on me?"

I had supported Levi out of kindness, but why did he betray me?

"Maybe because she's the villain."

The system's cold voice was tinged with sympathy.

It told me that Luna was born evil. Even if I could guide her on her journey to becoming a doctor, I could never control the brutal nature within her.

She loved me and respected me, so she couldn't bring herself to hurt me. That was why she had to take it out on another man.

I felt a throbbing pain in my chest. Tears streamed down my face, dripping onto the back of my hand.

Right then, Luna pushed the door open and walked in.

It wasn't just Luna—I had failed to save Levi, too.At the time, I sympathized with him for lacking the money to study. I worked two jobs every day, hoping to secure a future for both of them. In the end, all I got was their betrayal. I returned to my original world, broken and battered.Thankfully, the passage of time differed between the two worlds. Though I had lived ten years in the book, only ten days had passed in reality.I was fired for missing work, but I didn't care. Instead, I went straight to the orphanage to visit the director. He was pleasantly surprised to see me. He told me my biological parents had come looking for me and wanted to recognize me as their son again.Without a second thought, I refused. This time, I would no longer have expectations for anyone, nor would I long for anyone's love. That night, I packed my belongings and moved to a completely new city.I hadn't come away empty-handed after spending ten years in the story world. Luna looked up and saw Levi's wealthy father storming toward her, his face twisted with anger."Luna Ackerman, how dare you let my son take the blame for you? I'll kill you!"Luna was dragged into the prison by several burly men, where she finally saw a haggard Levi. The moment he spotted her, he rushed straight into her arms."Luna, I'm scared. They're saying it was premeditated murder, and I might get 20 years in prison. I don't want to take the fall for you anymore. Please just tell them you were the one driving, okay? I'll wait for you outside. Don't worry, I'll only ever love you in this life."As Levi continued his frantic babbling, he failed to notice the disgust in Luna's eyes. At the mention of premeditated murder, a faint flicker of calculation passed through her gaze. She gently pushed him away. Though her tone was soft and affectionate, her eyes were completely devoid of warmth."Wasn't it out of love for me that you drove that car and killed my husband? You think I'

"Have you heard? Luna is involved with Levi?""I even saw the video. Honestly, they were pretty wild.""Do you think Levi wanted to marry her, so he deliberately ran Noah over?""I bet it was a crime of passion—Hey, who are you? Why are you barging into the men's restroom!"Luna didn't care about any of that. She grabbed one of the men by the shoulder tightly and demanded, "What did you say? How do you know about this?"The man froze when he saw her face and stammered, "Dr. Ackerman, I didn't leak it. Every doctor in the hospital received the email. It was that video of you and Levi."Luna rushed to her computer in a daze, and sure enough, the video was there.Although it only showed their faces, the flashing pink leather whip and Levi's breathless, pained moans made it unmistakably clear what was happening.Luna sat frozen in front of the screen."Only Noah knew my email password…"She laughed and cried at the same time, as if she had lost her mind. Then, as if trying to con

She screamed hysterically and shoved the doctor who was trying to cut open my clothes with scissors."Get out! All of you, get out! Don't touch my husband!"The others exchanged uneasy glances. Only then did they realize that the patient lying on the operating table was me."Dr. Ackerman, the patient was in a car accident and critically injured. We need to cut the clothes open for surgery."Luna listened and immediately let go. She muttered to herself, "Yes, he needs surgery… I'm the youngest genius doctor. I can definitely save Noah."But her hand holding the scalpel wouldn't stop trembling. When someone suggested handing the surgery over to another doctor, she went into a frenzy."Get out. All of you, get out—"The surgery dragged on for five hours. In the end, everyone was begging Luna to stop, saying I had already lost all vital signs. However, she remained fully absorbed in the procedure, steadily stitching my body without a break."Noah won't die. He won't… I can save hi

As I watched Luna—the person I had cared for on my own—walk toward me, the smile on my lips slowly deepened."Luna, hurry," I urged silently. Before my consciousness faded completely, I found myself wanting to see the look on her face when she realized the person she had run over was me. It would be quite a sight, wouldn't it?For some reason, my thoughts drifted back to when I had first arrived in this world. I had stumbled upon someone bullying Luna. Back then, I had nothing to rely on but my own body. I was beaten until I was covered in bruises, but Luna, protected beneath me, remained completely unharmed. That night, she stayed outside my hospital room until morning. In her eyes burned a fury unlike anything I had ever seen her show.Perhaps today, I would get to see it again.Just as Luna was about to reach me and get a clear look at my face, Levi grabbed her from behind."Luna, go," he said. She turned to him in surprise.Levi swallowed hard and firmly said, "I love you

Luna ignored Levi, who was still shouting behind her, and rushed into the villa. She asked cautiously, "Noah, did you see anything just now?"A faint smile crossed my face. "What's wrong? Did you find the ring?""You were standing in front of the window…"I shook my head. "A bug got into my eye. I wanted to blow it out, but I forgot that the floor-to-ceiling windows don't open."Only then did Luna relax. Then, she stepped closer to check my eyes."Luna!" Levi had come in without us noticing. His gaze was filled with resentment as he stared at her.Luna's face fell instantly, and she quickly explained to me, "Noah, something's come up at the hospital. Levi came to get me. I need to go to the hospital. Don't wait for me tonight."As she said that, she dragged Levi, who looked like a complete mess, with her.I watched Luna's car disappear in the rain and forced a bitter smile.Tonight was my final night in this world. At midnight, I would be transported back to the original world
