Chapter 2

Author: Quinn Cherie
[She looks pure and innocent. What a shame she has a brother who sells her this way!]

[This sort of man is the worst. He has a family but still likes messing around.]

My vision went spotty, and I turned Fiona’s phone off.

I sent a private message to the receptionist, Landon Cobert.

[Please delete your post. If you don’t, we’ll make a police report and let them handle this.]

I could see he read the message, but there was no response for a long time. I sent him another message.

This time, the message failed to send.

Landon had blocked me!

I was about to call the police when Fiona showed me her phone.

“Randy, look!”

There was a new comment from Landon.

[Here’s the latest news! I’m going to spy on them and livestream just how loving these siblings are. If you want to know more, reply below!]

Instantly, comments flooded in.

[Be quick! I want to know more now!]

[Don’t forget me! I want to know, too!]

[I just know that woman will sound amazing when she cries out!]

Fiona and I were stunned. I felt like I had been dunked in ice water.

This had escalated far beyond cyberbullying.

Right at that moment, I saw a shadow moving around in the seam under our hotel room door.

Landon was actually here!

When Fiona saw the shadow, her gaze darkened. Her voice was filled with rage as she said, “He really dared to come!”

She clenched her fists and got up. She strode toward the door.

“What are you doing?”

I pulled her back, holding her tightly in place.

“I’m going to beat him up!” I could practically see the steam rising from her, and her body was taut as a bowstring.

“If you go out and get into a fight with him, he might take a video of it and upload it online. What then?”

My voice was shaking, but my words were still calm.

“Won’t getting angry just prove he’s right? If that happens, nothing will clear our names!”

The court of public opinion was in session, and if we reacted drastically, it would only become new fodder for our destruction.

Fiona deflated immediately. She regained her composure, but I could still see the fury raging in her eyes.

She gritted her teeth and said, “Then, what do we do? Do we just let him keep slandering us, Randy?”

I looked at the wavering shadow through the gap under the door. My heart pounded in my chest, but my mind was clearer than it had ever been.

I took out my phone and quickly keyed in three numbers.

The call went through immediately. My voice was unusually controlled as I said, “Hello, police? I’d like to make a report.

“I’m staying in Room 808 of Snowy Lodge Hotel. I suspect that someone in this hotel runs a prostitution ring. Please come and handle this.”

I did not mention anything about the photo of us being taken without our consent or the defamation going on.

It was already late at night. To the police officers on duty, such a matter would be too small to address. Once they determined that it was an online argument, the police would probably consider it unworthy of attention and just issue a warning.

However, by saying there was a prostitution ring being run here, the whole situation had changed.

Fiona looked at me in shock. Her jaw fell open.

Ten minutes later, there was a flurry of footsteps out in the corridor. Then, there were urgent shouts and noises.

“Police! Freeze! What are you doing here?”

A man’s shocked cry came next, along with the clamor of something falling on the floor.

Our chance had come.

I flung the door open.

Police officers were holding Landon tightly by the arms on each side. The phone he was using to livestream was on the floor. The screen was still lit.

I rushed over and said coldly, “Officers, I’m the one who called you. I highly suspect this person’s running an illegal prostitution ring.”

When Landon saw me, he paled and struggled with all his might. He shouted, “No! I didn’t do anything! That’s nonsense!”

I smirked. “Is that so? Then, why aren’t you at the reception counter this late at night? What are you doing sneaking around outside my hotel room door?”

Landon’s face was white. He stammered but could not speak coherently.

One of the police officers picked up Landon’s phone. His expression turned stormy with just one glance.

He turned the screen to show it to Landon. He barked out, “The livestream is captioned ‘Amorous Siblings’? The comments are filthy! You’re under arrest! You’re coming with us to the station!”

“Let’s go home, Randy.”“Right, let’s go home.”That was not the end of the story, though. I found a lawyer. After he finished listening to my story, he pushed up his glasses and said, “Incitement, extortion, and invasion of privacy. There are several crimes involved here. From my estimation, he will be imprisoned for at least three years, no less.”The lawyer also reminded me. “The man’s family might seek you out and demand an official apology. You should be ready for that.”I nodded in understanding. As warned, a travel-weary middle-aged couple arrived at the guest house we were staying in two days later. They were Landon’s parents. They looked much older than their actual ages and were plainly dressed. Their faces were lined with the difficulties of life. I thought they had come to beg for mercy. When they saw me, they got down on their knees. Fiona quickly stopped them. “We’re so sorry, sir. We didn’t raise our son properly!”The woman started crying immediatel

Landon called again. His laughter this time sounded even more deranged. “What, do you think you can buy me off with this? Forget it! I won’t accept anything less than $1,000,000!”Once again, I hung up. The third order I made was through a luxury shopping platform. It was for the latest branded handbag. The total came up to $30,000 and was another cash-on-delivery order. I even made sure that there could be no returns or refunds. This time, the call came after a very long time. Landon’s tone was no longer so arrogant. I could swear I heard his voice tremble. “W-What are you trying to pull?”This time, I finally spoke up. My voice was calm and even. “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Don’t you know the reverse is also true? Don’t you like doing livestreams? I’m giving you more content.”After that, I hung up and made the fourth order. This time, I ordered a high-spec gaming laptop that cost $200,000 for Landon. When he called again, Landon broke down. H

Early the next morning, Fiona showed me her phone. She had dark bags under her eyes. “Look, Randy…”Landon had made a new profile on the livestreaming website. His bruised and swollen face was on display as he cried into the camera. “Friends, I’ve been beaten up just because I spread the news of that horrible couple’s rendezvous! They’re not siblings, just perverts! Rich people have such wild tastes. They were roleplaying as siblings on Valentine’s Day and got mad when I found out. They beat me up and got me into trouble at work. Now, I have no job, and my family has turned their backs on me!”He cried pitifully. His acting skills were masterful. The netizens who had no clue what was going on were sympathetic, and the comments were ones of outrage.[What, really? That’s disgusting!][I told you that man isn’t anyone decent. He looks like a pervert!][That couple should die! We should ruin their reputation! Let’s drag them through the mud!]But what made my whole body go co

The bracelet was a part of a matched set from a luxury brand. It was a limited edition. Ms. Fraser’s face flashed in my mind. She had been wearing the same bracelet. I could see it clearly in my memory. In Landon’s friend list, I found his and Ms. Fraser’s secondary profiles. When I clicked on them, I found their photos, with both of them intimately close. I grinned. So, this was the truth of the matter. It was no wonder that Ms. Fraser was defending Landon so intensely. She even dared to twist the truth without caring about offending her guests. A daring and brazen plan slowly formed in my mind. I collected all the evidence and sent it straight to the email of the company that owned the hotel. [Your hotel’s management is truly special. You’d think they’re family.]I sent a second copy to Ms. Fraser’s husband. I sent a third copy to Landon’s parents and his wife. After doing all that, I calmly put down my phone, turned it off, and told Fiona to go to sleep. The nex

“Worse than that,” I paused, then said, “he said he’s seen many Johns bringing prostitutes here. That means prostitution happens in this hotel. However, he’s never reported it. Isn’t that the responsibility of the hotel?“Ms. Fraser,” I turned to the woman, who was sweating bullets, “was not even concerned about her guests’ privacy or safety. She didn’t even try to find out what was actually going on. All she did was try to protect her staff. She even tried to chase us out into the cold winter night to do so.”I laughed coldly and regarded both Landon and Ms. Fraser."I can't help but wonder if they're all in on this together, part of the same profit chain."I saw them go pale. The police took Landon and Ms. Fraser to the police station to get their statements. Fiona and I went along as well. After finishing everything, we were allowed to leave only around 4 a.m.Everything proceeded very quickly after that. For his defamatory actions, Landon was held in jail for one day. He

Landon’s reaction was so intense because the bed only had one set of sheets, and another set was on the floor on a separate mattress. Landon’s eyes bulged. “This is impossible! I-I heard noises just now!”At his reaction, Ms. Fraser’s expression darkened instantly. She walked up and shoved Landon aside. I watched him coldly for a moment before turning toward the police officers. I took out my driver's license from my pocket. “Officers, this is my driver's license.”I glanced at Fiona. “Check your phone for a photo of your license.”Fiona immediately understood. She took out her phone and found a soft copy of her license. I showed both to the police officers. “We don’t have further information, but our licenses have our shared address and should be enough to prove that we’re siblings.”Landon spat out a laugh. “Still faking it! The licenses might be doctored—”But before he could finish speaking, a police officer finished checking our licenses. His expression darkened.
