Adryan released his kiss and looked at Gabby, the expression in his eyes suddenly shifting. He wasn't angry, but he was no longer consumed by passion. He had returned to being a calculating politician, a man who was always in control.

"No," Adryan answered, his voice back to its flat, sharp tone. "I'm not drunk. I'm also not doing this because I have to. You need to go to your room, Gabby."

"Okay," Gabby said, her voice hoarse. She turned and walked out of Adryan's study.

She returned to her room and collapsed onto the bed. She tried to close her eyes, but the image of Adryan's face, filled with lust and sadness, kept swirling in her mind.

The morning sun crept into Gabby's room. She opened her eyes, feeling a terrible headache. As she tried to get up from the bed, she felt a strong hand wrapped around her waist. She froze, her heart stopping. It was Adryan's hand.

Gabby turned her head, her breath caught in her throat. Adryan was sleeping peacefully in her bed. He looked calm, his arm wrapped around her as if she were his. They were both fully dressed, of course.

'What's happening?' Gabby thought, her brain unable to process what she was seeing. 'Why is he here?'

She looked at Adryan's peaceful face, and for the first time, she saw a vulnerability in him. He was no longer a cold, calculating politician. He was a man sleeping beside her, holding her as if she were his everything.

She intentionally moved her arm, making Adryan stir.

Adryan's eyes opened, his brows furrowed as he tried to understand where he was. His eyes widened when he saw Gabby, who was staring at him with a sharp, unreadable gaze. He quickly pulled his hand away and sat up, his expression a mix of shock and regret.

"What... what are you doing here?" Adryan asked, his voice hoarse.

Gabby smirked, a smile that didn't reach her eyes. It was the same smile she had given Adelyn Romney. "I'm in my own room, of course. The question is, what are you doing here?"

Adryan sighed, rubbing his face with his hand. "I don't know," he mumbled, his voice filled with frustration. "I don't know what I was thinking."

Gabby looked him up and down, raising an eyebrow. "Don't worry, I won't tell your girlfriend." She leaned back against the pillows, her smirk unwavering. "Besides, I know a politician needs his sleep."

"I think we should talk about this," Adryan said, his voice raspy.

"Talk about what?" Gabby replied, raising an eyebrow. "The fact that I woke up and found my husband in my bed? Or the fact that you can't seem to remember why you're here?" She smiled again, a sharp, cold smile.

Adryan rubbed his face, his eyes closed. "It was a mistake. That night... everything was out of control."

Gabby laughed, a cold, humorless laugh. "A mistake? You've used that word before, Mr. Lewis. I think we need to find another word."

She got out of bed and walked to the bathroom. "While you contemplate your vocabulary choices," she said, her voice coming from the bathroom.

Adryan got up, following her to the bathroom door. He leaned against the frame, his hands in his pockets. "Why are you doing this?"

"Doing what?" Gabby asked, her head peeking from behind the door.

"Why are you pretending not to care?" Adryan asked.

"Well, I'm not pretending. But even if I were, it's a lot easier than you think. You taught me."

Adryan fell silent, staring at her, not knowing what to say.

After a moment, Gabby came out, fully dressed in a simple skirt and blouse. She walked past him, not looking at him.

"I'm going down for coffee," she said, then walked out.

Adryan followed her. They walked to the kitchen, where the maids were preparing breakfast. They stopped, surprised to see Adryan and Gabby together. No one had ever seen them together in the morning.

"Sir, ma'am," one of the maids said, her voice trembling.

Gabby ignored her. "Can I get a cup of coffee, Maria?"

"Of course, ma'am," Maria replied, still in shock.

They sat at the breakfast table, but didn't speak. The air was tense. Adryan stared at her, trying to read her mind, but Gabby just sipped her coffee, looking calm.

---

After the awkward breakfast, Gabby went up to her room. The air outside felt warm and humid, and the tension between her and Adryan made her head feel heavy. She needed fresh air. She needed freedom.

With that in mind, she changed into a simple two-piece swimsuit and walked to the pool. She didn't care who would see her. She just wanted to swim.

As she walked out, she could hear the maids whispering. The whispers stopped as she passed them. But Gabby ignored them, submerging herself in the cool pool and feeling a sense of peace wash over her. She was the 20-year-old Gabby, and she didn't care what other people thought.

Suddenly, she heard footsteps behind her. She turned, and saw Adryan standing by the pool. He was still wearing his business suit, which contrasted with the bright swimsuit she was wearing. He looked at her, his eyes ablaze.

"What are you doing?" he asked, his voice filled with anger.

Gabby rested her head on the side of the pool, her face filled with honesty. "I'm swimming. Can't you see?"

"I can see," Adryan said, his jaw clenched. "Don't you care what the staff thinks? You're walking around like... like a show. This is inappropriate, Gabby."

Gabby smirked. "Inappropriate? Adryan, this is my house. And this pool is mine. What's so inappropriate about it?"

"This is about respect!" Adryan shouted. "This is about image!"

"Image?" Gabby asked, raising an eyebrow. "You're the only one who's obsessed with image, Adryan. You want people to see you as a hero, a perfect man, but you're a man who leaves his wife to sleep with his secretary!"

Adryan's face went pale. "Shut up!"

"Why? Are you afraid I'll tell the truth?" Gabby asked, her voice calm. "Are you afraid people will see you as a loser, not a hero?"

Adryan couldn't answer. His eyes were blazing, filled with fury. He looked at her, wet and flawless, challenging him, and his anger escalated into something more primitive. He couldn't control her with words.

And in a sudden flash of anger, Adryan started to unbutton his pajamas. The movements were rough, filled with frustration. He threw his shirt on the ground, leaving only his shorts. Adryan showed off his athletic and muscular body. Gabby stared at him, surprised.

Adryan looked at her, his eyes filled with a burning passion. He jumped into the pool.

Water dripped from his face as he swam towards Gabby. He grabbed her, and in an instant, he pressed her body against the wall of the pool.

"You like a show?" Adryan whispered, his voice low and hoarse. "I'll give you one."

He kissed her, a dominant and passionate kiss. It was a kiss that consumed everything, that absorbed all their frustration and anger. Gabby kissed him back, her hands gripping his shoulders, unable to stop him.

Suddenly, a voice was heard. "Mr. Lewis! I'm sorry, but you have an appointment..."

Adryan released Gabby. His eyes, still filled with passion, met hers. He turned and swam to the side of the pool. He got out, grabbed his jacket and tie.

Gabby just stared at him, her breath heavy. As she watched Adryan walk away, the words came out of her mouth, filled with anger and desperation.

"I will sue you for sexual assault, Adryan!"

Adryan stopped, and his shoulders trembled. He slowly turned around, looked at her, and a cold, cynical laugh escaped his mouth. It was a mocking laugh, a laugh that said he wasn't scared at all.

"Go ahead, Gabby," Adryan said, his voice filled with a sneer. "But will anyone believe you? All this time you've been the one trying to get me to look at you."

He turned and walked away, leaving Gabby alone. Gabby stared at him with deep anger in her eyes. She felt confused. She didn't know what to do with the man who kissed her like that, and then just left her.

The gentle sunlight touched Gabby’s face, waking her from a deep sleep. She felt the suffocating warmth on her back. For a moment, she forgot where she was. Then, the memory of the night before flooded her mind: Adryan's hard body behind her, his large arm wrapped around her stomach, and the undeniable sensation pressed against her. She stirred slightly, feeling awkward about the unexpected intimacy, and tried to slip out of the embrace. However, the embrace was already gone. Gabby turned and opened her eyes fully. The spot next to her was empty. She looked across the room. Adryan was standing near the bedroom door, wearing a perfectly tailored dark gray suit. His hair was neatly combed, and he looked ready to face a day full of politics and power. He appeared utterly cold and distant, as if the warmth they had shared last night had never happened. He was checking his luxurious wristwatch. Gabby, still wrapped in his oversized T-shirt and hiding under the thick blanket, blinked

The next morning, Gabby and Adryan sat at the breakfast table, but neither of them spoke. The silence between them was so heavy that it felt like an invisible presence. Gabby focused solely on her plate, while Adryan stared at his tablet, occasionally sipping his coffee. Suddenly, Adryan put down his tablet. "We're going somewhere tonight," he said, his voice calm. Gabby looked up, her eyebrows furrowed. "Where?" "My parents' house," Adryan answered, his eyes meeting hers. "It's my mother's birthday today. Don't tell me you forgot?" Gabby's world seemed to stop. "I... I don't remember," Gabby said, her voice hoarse. Adryan sighed. "Just get ready beforehand. I won't dry your hair again like I did that time." Gabby looked at Adryan for a moment. "Fine," Gabby said lazily. 'Adryan only dried my hair, but he talks as if he saved my life.' The night sky was filled with city lights, and Adryan's luxury car sped toward the most exclusive residential area in Virginia. Gabby sa

Gabby left Adryan’s study after saying those words, leaving him with nothing but his confusion. She didn’t return to her bedroom. Instead, she walked into the living room, feeling a new surge of energy coursing through her. She sat on the sofa, closed her eyes, and tried to think about where to begin. She needed information. More than just what was on her laptop. She needed access to Adryan’s past. Suddenly, an idea struck her. Kevin. She walked back into Adryan’s office, now empty. Sitting at his desk, she pulled the tablet closer, searched for Kevin’s name, found his number, and dialed. “Hello?” Kevin’s voice came through, laced with confusion. “Mrs. Lewis? How can I help you?” “Kevin,” Gabby said, her voice calm but firm. “I want to ask you something.” “Of course, Ma’am” Kevin replied, tension clear in his tone. “What is it?” “How long have you been working with Adryan?” Kevin hesitated. “About seven years, I think, ma’am.” “Can you tell me about him?” Gabby pressed.

For six days, Gabby didn't leave her room. The door remained locked, the only barrier between her and the world outside—a world where Adryan existed. Food and drinks were placed on a tray by a maid, then slid under the door. Gabby would only retrieve it after she heard the footsteps retreat. She ate, but without appetite. She showered, but without feeling. Every morning, Adryan would stand in front of her door. He never knocked, never spoke. He just stood there, like a guard, and Gabby could feel his presence through the door. On the seventh day, Gabby woke up with a different feeling. Her physical and emotional pain were still there, but something else had settled in her. It was a deep sense of disgust. Disgust with herself. Disgust with her powerlessness. Disgust with being a victim. I can't go on like this, she thought, her voice echoing inside her head. She walked to the window and looked outside. A beautiful garden, a blue sky, birds chirping. The world outside kept moving, whi

The next morning, Gabby woke up with her body feeling bruised and battered. Her fever was high, and her head was throbbing. She tried to get out of bed, but a wave of nausea forced her back down onto the pillow. She was not only physically ill; she was emotionally ill as well. A moment later, a maid entered with her breakfast. On the tray, there was warm porridge, soup, and chamomile tea. Gabby stared at the plate with a blank expression, but she couldn't bring herself to touch it. She just wanted to go back to sleep and forget everything. "Ma'am, Mr. Adryan said you must eat," the maid said softly. Gabby only nodded, but she didn't move. The maid, who seemed to understand, left her alone. An hour later, Adryan entered her room with a guilt-ridden expression. He saw the breakfast tray on the table, the porridge and soup still untouched. His face hardened, and he walked to the bed. "You're not eating," he said, his voice filled with a cold desperation. Gabby only looked at h
