Chapter tow

Carlesia opened her eyes to someone shaking her vigorously. She felt her heart beating fast.

She looked at the person in front of her and then relaxed a little.

" Mom." She said looking at her mother's worried face. Her voice came out raspy and her throat was dry, not to mention her tear-stained cheeks.

"Are you well?" Her mother asked her in a low voice.

"Yes. I'm fine. Why?" "You were crying in your sleep, Carly," her mother sighed.

Carlesia took a deep breath before sitting down, resting her back on the bed frame.

"Nothing, really. Don't worry, I'm fine." Her mother laughed softly.

“It is not that easy. You are my daughter, this worries me. The last time I saw you, I was eight.” Her mother replied honestly, gently touching her cheek causing her to look down.

"Can I ask you something?" Carlesia broke the silence.

"Of course sweetheart." Her mother replied and gave her an encouraging smile.

Carlesia took a deep breath, not daring to look at her mother as the words left her mouth, "Do you hate me?" she asked, peeking at her mother from under her eyelashes. Her mother shook her head in confusion at her daughter's question.

"Of course not! How can you say that?" she answered.

"Then why did you want to abort me?" She felt as if the world had stopped when her mother looked at her with wide eyes.

“How--” her mother began to say but cut her off,

"No one told me, I found out myself." She responded quickly and her mother looked at the ground shyly.

"Is this true?" Her mother nodded slowly.

"I found out I was pregnant with you when I was in college. An abortion was the first thought that came to my mind, but I'm so grateful your dad didn't let me do it. I'm so proud of you my dear and I love you so much." said her mother and then pulled her into a warm hug.

Suddenly Carlesia's phone started ringing.

She grabbed her i-phone 12, which was a gift from her father before he died, and smiled as she looked at who's calling.

She looked at her mother and then said,

“Hmm, do you mind if I…” she followed by shaking the phone in her hand, her mother nodding and leaving the room.

Carlesia opened the line: "Hello Zayn."

She said as a gentle smile crept across her face.

Zayn is her best friend since kindergarten. She sometimes wonders how a social and popular person like him can befriend her. He's a famous player at her school that girls stare at after every game, but he takes every opportunity to spend it with her.

"Where have you been? I've been waiting for your call! I miss you!" he answers dramatically.

"Zayn has slept and I miss you too. What time is it?" .

"It's nine in the morning. And you?" answered.

"Six in the evening." She replied, causing him to answer in shock.

“Wow, we are so far away. Just two days ago we were under the same roof and now we are thousands of miles away from each other, I hate it.” He said frankly, Carlesia frowned.

"Me too. I don't feel comfortable here. Although I talked to my mum about the abortion but I just want to go back to Sydney." Zayn took a deep breath.

"Really, what did she say?" He asked and Carlesia told him about the whole thing, Zane frowned even though he was glad she knew the truth.

"I think that's good." He said, nodding, forgetting that he couldn't look at her.

"But I want to be back Zayn. I miss everything. And I miss my dad. So much." She said and her voice began to break, for a moment she removed the cell phone from her ear and took a deep breath and brought it back quickly, she did not want him to cut the call and lose a little comfort that she was feeling.

"Carly? Don't you cry, you're strong. We talked about this. Your dad wants you to be happy and not grieve for him. Send me a picture now. I want to see those pretty dimples." He said which made her smile.

"You are the best Zayn." She said a few minutes later.

"I know haha!" Her boyfriend responds cheerfully and arrogantly at the same time, trying to make her laugh, but he can sense the faint sadness in her voice.

I heard footsteps approaching her room and decided to hang up.

“I—I have to go Zayn. I’ll call you later, okay?” said a bit on her lip.

"Yes baby. And remember no crying!"

"Yes, no crying." I confirmed before the line closed, and as I expected the door opened.

"Carly, would you mind bringing yourself, Ben is waiting for some important guests and I'd like to introduce them to you." Her mother said but Carlesia felt nervous and nervous in her voice.

Something was suspicious.

"certainly." She said worriedly but wondered what was going on as she watched her mother nod and leave the room, quietly closing the door behind her.

Deciding not to waste another minute, she lazily went to one of her bags, opened it, looking for something elegant, at last found what she was looking for, picked up a white and royal blue dress with white sandals and made her way to the bathroom to shower.

Minutes later, she came out dressed and her hair was blow-dried. I put only pink lip gloss without adding any other makeup.

I took a deep breath and then looked at the time, it was seven in the evening. A sigh escaped her lips as she made her way to the tall mirror and examined herself, she looked beautiful with her long hair and green eyes looking refreshed but this dress brought back so many memories.

The dress she wore was on her father's birthday, two days before his death. She and Zayn bought it online together because neither of them like to go to the mall to shop.

She turned in front of the mirror making her hair fly, tears starting to fill her eyes as she shook her head.

Do not cry Carlesia. No more crying.

I took a deep breath, headed to the sofa by the window and felt completely relaxed whenever the wind blew. The place was filled with the faint smell of slime and leaves, indicating that it would rain soon.

Her eyes traveled to the dark forest in front of the house, examining her beauty. In Sydney there wasn't much green space while here it felt like nature blossomed in its most beautiful form. This place was amazing and there was no doubt about it even if it wasn't her home.

She sat there on the sofa in her darkened room, watching how the tall trees danced in the strong wind. Every now and then a cold wind would pinch her skin, she was uncomfortably relaxed.

If even possible.

About thirty minutes later, she heard someone calling her out of her thoughts. She took a deep breath and then walked towards the door, her hair slipping behind her ear to form a waterfall on either side of her head.

She went down the stairs to the hallway and turned left into the living room, her steps slowing as the sounds rose, then laughter following.

Upon reaching the living room, Carlesia's eyes widened when she saw the scene in front of her.

Ben had a boy, perhaps eighteen years old, and another looking younger boy sitting on the sofa chewing a biscuit while the crumbs covered his mouth and fell to the floor.

The two boys were dressed in soccer uniforms, their shoes covered in dirt, staining the clean wooden floor.

"Ben, leave Robin before you hurt him." Her mother yelled for her husband to leave the blond boy while Ben laughed.

"Come on, Maria, I'm just showing him how to do it. Besides he's a betta." He said, which made her eyebrows wrinkle.

What is "beta"?

What is a 'beta'? Carlesia asked in a faint voice that made everyone shut up.

Ben quickly let go of the boy I assumed was Elijah while the person on the sofa dropped his biscuit in his lap.

She looked at her mother for an answer as she noticed the two boys staring at each other as if they were talking in their minds.

"Oh, nothing, my dear. Allow me to introduce you to Robin and Elijah, Ben's sons," she said, nodding and smiling.

“Boys, this is Carlesia, my daughter. I told you about her.” She said and the older person I thought was Robin, nodded.

"Yes, I remember." He said while his younger brother Elijah was staring at me.

"I'm sorry about your father." He said she nodded her head silently, she did not know what to say.

She wouldn't say, "It's okay, it's okay" because it wasn't. Her father did not deserve to die this way, and no one deserves to die this way.

"Come on boys, go change your clothes, we are waiting for guests." Her mother said Robin raised an eyebrow.

"Who exactly?" Asked .

"Alpha - I mean Gabriel." Ben replied, quickly looking at Carlesia and then at the boys who nodded.

She watched the boys leave and then looked at her mother, who gave her a small smile but Carlesia didn't want her back.

Something wasn't right.

Although Ben tried to make up, thinking I didn't hear him but I did, what did he mean.

Not to mention how her mom covered the other word "peta". These words were alien to her, but the way they were said made her curious to know their meaning.

After a few minutes of staring at her she finally said, "I'll be in my room."

And so she left them and entered her room, closing the door quietly.

They kept secrets from her and she was sure of it. When she was in Sydney she didn't care because she had her family and friends, but it hurts her now. She does not have anyone, a friend, a family.

I felt lonely.

She smiled as she sat on her bed and picked up her cell phone.

After a few minutes of staring she finally decided to play her favorite game on the phone and that's exactly what she did for the next fifteen minutes, trying to break her previous record Suddenly I heard a knock on the door.
