Debbie.

I woke up feeling like a heavy weight was sitting on my chest. The weight of having three more days before I left this place, back to where I used to be—Black’s house. Or should I say, my husband’s house.

The sun was peeking through the curtains when a soft knock sounded at the door.

“Debbie? You awake?”

It was River. His voice always warm, like a blanket.

“Yeah,” I croaked out, sitting up and rubbing my eyes. “Come in.”

The door creaked open, and River stepped in, looking fresh and calm. He was wearing just a pair of loose swim trunks and a thin white shirt that was unbuttoned.

Through the thin fabric of the shirt, I could see the tattoo of my name that was sitting pretty on his skin.

My heart did a little flip. He was always so effortlessly handsome—every fucking time. They didn't even have to try.

“Rex and Rain are out,” he said, leaning against the doorframe.
