Feel-Good Story

Plot Twists

Male POV

Karma

Regret

Awakening

I've been sponsoring a poor student named Sophie Martin who's about to drop out, allowing her to graduate from university without a hitch. When Sophie confesses to me on graduation day, I firmly reject her advances. I didn't expect her to slander me after her failed confession, accusing me of sponsoring her only because I want to keep her by my side for salacious reasons. I'm thrust into the eye of the storm and forced to endure endless criticisms. My university fires me to save its reputation. No other school dares to employ me. I become depressed due to constant verbal harassment from the netizens. I barely survive as I hide in a dim basement every day. One day, I see Sophie on the news by chance. She has become an inspirational microcelebrity and is enjoying a life of fame and fortune. Infuriated, I seek her out and demand an explanation. But she pushes me off the building, leading to my death. After I died, Sophie tells the public that I refused to give up and continued to harass her, claiming that's the reason why I slipped and fell off the building. When I open my eyes again, I realize that I've been transported back in time to the day that Sophie tells me that she's going to drop out of school.

Chapter 1
When I opened my eyes again, I saw a female student standing before me, wearing a pitiful expression.I took a good look at her and realized that it was Sophie Martin. What was going on?I wasn't dead?I looked down and glanced at the time on my phone, confirming that I had been reborn."Professor Lorenzo?" Sophie called out to me tentatively when I remained silent. Her voice snapped me back to my senses."I'm listening. Go on," I said."I won't be coming to the university anymore starting tomorrow. Mom told me that she doesn't have enough money to pay for my school fees. I wanted to thank you for taking care of me while I was still your student."A few tears spilled down her cheeks as she spoke. In my past life, I was moved by Sophie's pitiful appearance. Feeling a sense of obligation to help her since I was her teacher, I decided to sponsor her school fees and living expenses. I also did everything that I could to fulfill her wishes.I wanted her to focus on her studies so

Chapter 2
The next day, Sophie still showed up at my 8:00 am class.I frowned.Didn't she say that she was going to drop out? What was she still doing here?Although I was confused, I knew that I couldn't ask her directly."I'm not dropping out anymore, Professor Lorenzo," Sophie explained. "Jamie offered to help me once he learned of my predicament."Jamie Yates?I knew who he was. He had nursed a crush on Sophie for a long time. He was also her accomplice when she carried out her schemes in my past life. When Sophie threw herself into my arms and made it look as if we were doing something questionable, Jamie swiftly snapped a photo of us before I could shove her away.I couldn't clear my name because they had "photographic evidence" and an "eyewitness"."Okay," I said simply before I rose to my feet, preparing to leave.Sophie grabbed me and stopped me in my tracks.I frowned, feeling rather disgruntled. "What's wrong?""Jamie's help has limits. He can only sponsor my school fees.

Chapter 3
I hopped into my car and rushed back to the university after bidding farewell to the woman.I had just entered the building when I saw Sophie's mother, Rachel Doyle, exiting the principal's office with a big smile on her face.I didn't approach her. Instead, I ducked into the emergency exit in the stairwell."See? The school won't take you seriously unless I make a fuss," Rachel said. "Didn't you tell me that your professor is a good man? You said that he would definitely sponsor you if you told him that you couldn't afford to pay your school fees."She scoffed before continuing, "It seems that he's not as wonderful as you make him out to be. In the end, I still had to make a personal appearance. "We can move to the city once we sell off the old house. Be careful. Don't give the plan away. We can save a lot of money if I don't have to pay for your school fees and living expenses for the next four years. We should save as much as we can.""I understand."It turned out that all t

The university's website exploded the next day.A post by an anonymous user had rocketed to the top of the university forum's trending chart."Professor Matthew Lorenzo from the Department of Business Communications tried to keep a female student by his side by using the excuse that he was going to sponsor her. He raised his hand against her when she rejected his advances. The female student ended up cutting her wrist to protect herself."I think that the impact of this case will be extremely severe. I hope that the university will prioritize this incident and give everyone a proper explanation and also explain how they're going to handle this."A photo was attached to the post.I couldn't deny that the photo was taken from the perfect angle.Although I was the one who stopped Sophie from hurting herself further, the framing of the photo made it seem like I was forcefully restraining her. On top of that, you couldn't see the knife or the cut from the angle that the photo was take

Chapter 5
A clip from a surveillance video appeared on the screen. The camera had clearly captured what happened between Sophie and me. It had even recorded the part where Jamie peeked into the classroom to snap a photo of us.Chaos erupted among the crowd in an instant. The color drained from Sophie's face."That's impossible," she mumbled to herself. "How did this happen? I thought that all the surveillance cameras in the university weren't working."The students below the stage also became more agitated."I can't believe this is who you really are, Sophie! You and Jamie knew exactly how to play us for fools, huh?""Give us back the money that we donated to you! How dare you think that you can cruise through life without putting in any effort of your own?""She's right! Give us back our money!"Sophie and Jamie were surrounded in an instant. The security guards darted forward to break up the angry mob.I felt like I was experiencing deja vu as I watched the scene unfold. It didn't t

Chapter 6
One day, Jamie appeared in front of my office as usual."I've already told you, Jamie," I said. "You don't need me to give you another chance. "I don't care if you helped Sophie of your own volition, or if she tricked you into helping her. It doesn't matter. You just have to focus on fulfilling your responsibilities as a student. You don't have to seek me out because of this again."However, Jamie didn't leave. Instead, he slowly said, "Actually, there's something else that I wanted to ask you, Professor Lorenzo. I heard that the university has just introduced a new top student award. "Apparently, if a student nabs a top three spot in their department during the final exams, they'll receive a 10,000-dollar reward. Is that true?"I looked up at him. "That's right.""Do I have a chance too?""Naturally. As long as your scores are sufficient."Jamie's results usually landed him at the bottom of the class. On top of that, he had a notorious reputation for being a playboy who reli

I didn't expect to appear on the trending chart again. However, things were a little different this time.I didn't appear on the university forum's trending chart. Instead, I appeared on a social trending chart."A male professor from Lunaveil University shows favoritism for female students. He only exposes male students for cheating and turns a blind eye when female students are cheating."A blacked-out recording was attached to the article.Feeling curious, I played the recording.I immediately recognized Jamie's voice. It seemed that he was getting himself involved too.I couldn't shake the feeling that something was amiss. I remembered that Jamie had filmed me that day, so why did he release a blacked-out recording?I knew that something was wrong when the first line played. It was obvious that the video had been tampered with for malicious reasons. My first answer had been doctored. The words were spliced together to make it sound like I said, "That's right. I'm singling

Chapter 8
Howard ordered everyone to gather at the event hall.Jamie and I took our seats."Did you tamper with the recording for your own malicious reasons, Jamie?" I asked."So what if I did? You can't deny that you exposed me for cheating while turning a blind eye to the other cheaters," Jamie retorted."What about the other post?""What other post?" Jamie asked, pretending to be oblivious. "I don't know what you're talking about.""You're the one who stole the exam papers, right, Jamie? I suggest that you come clean. You're going to face even more severe consequences if the situation escalates further.""Stop trying to slander me, Professor Lorenzo. I admit that I cheated during the exam, but you're the one who gave me the exam papers in the first place. You're also the one who told me that we would split the reward money equally if I was one of the top three scorers in the department."I couldn't help myself and burst out laughing."Why would I want to split a few thousand dollars

I received excellent news. The university decided to send a group of outstanding professors abroad for training. However, I was ambushed in front of my apartment after I packed my things and was about to depart.I fainted before I could get a good look at my attacker. When I regained consciousness, I realized that I was in an extremely dilapidated place. It seemed that I had been abducted to an abandoned factory. My hands and legs were tightly bound. I tried to free myself several times, but the ropes refused to budge."Is anyone there?" I shouted."Stop making such a ruckus."I recognized the familiar voice. It was Sophie. She slowly approached me and said, "It's been a long time, Professor Lorenzo.""What are you doing, Sophie?" I demanded. "You can be convicted for what you've done. Stop now before it's too late."Sophie scoffed. "Stop? I was the one who told Jamie to do those things to drag you into the mud. Things didn't work out between us because you're a teacher, an

The unexpected happened once again.Rachel began to pummel me with her fists when she arrived at the police station. She tore at my clothes and yelled, "You damned beast! My daughter has already withdrawn from the university, but you still tricked her into meeting you to fulfill your nefarious desires! I knew that you were a despicable man!"I was rendered speechless and turned to look at Sophie.Sophie's response also shocked me to the core."I've already left the university, Professor Lorenzo. What else do you want me to do? That factory was so run-down. I don't know what would have happened to me if Jamie didn't arrive in the nick of time. You dealt such a terrible blow to him. Is he even going to survive?"She started sobbing as she spoke. She looked as if she was scared out of her mind.Rachel began to back her up."We can settle this privately. 500,000 dollars! We can let bygones be bygones if you give me 500,000 dollars. We can sweep everything under the rug.""500,000 d
