In My Lonesomeness

When the divorce papers arrived, the passionate embrace in the master bedroom had also just ended.A moment later, my phone rang, and Evelyn's lazy voice drifted into my ear. "Come upstairs and clean up."I said a calm "Sure," in response, then knocked on the master bedroom door.Evelyn's new boyfriend opened the door. He had nothing on but a towel around his waist, and his abs were streaked with red marks that said exactly what had just happened. He looked at me and sneered. "Ms. Brook said you're stiff as a board in bed. I guess I'm the one who can actually satisfy her. Next time, you can stand there and watch. Learn how to please a woman."I didn't even look at him, brushing past him as I entered the room.My indifference must have enraged him as he raised his hand to hit me. "I'm talking to you! Are you deaf?!"A slender hand suddenly caught his wrist.Evelyn appeared behind him and shot him an icy look. "Get out!"His eyes reddened at once as he started whining. "Ms. Broo

Dana was so furious, her face went pale. Her voice shook as she snarled, "What kind of spell did Julian cast on you? How can you love him this much? I'm telling you right now. Either me or him will stay in this family! Choose!"But Evelyn still held Julian's hand tight. "Julian is the only one I have ever loved. He's the only one I want!"Her open declaration of love humiliated me openly, even though I was her original husband. Julian looked at me smugly, as if he had taken the most precious thing in the world from me. However, I felt nothing at all.Evelyn left with an arm around Julian's waist.Dana had never expected her daughter to go this far for a man. She collapsed from anger right there on the spot.-While Dana was being treated, Evelyn refused to answer any of my calls.Claire stood nearby with her eyes lowered. "Stop calling. She won't answer."I opened my mouth, wanting to say something. In the end, I stayed silent.By the time I pulled myself together, Claire wa

Claire stayed at the office and worked until midnight before finally heading home. Before she left, she even called the butler to ask about me.The butler answered honestly. "Robin hasn't come home to the residence."Claire frowned, a little surprised.Everyone close to her knew that my greatest wish was to marry her. During the years we were secretly together, all my birthday wishes every single year were so I could be with her openly as soon as possible. Now that the five-year promise had ended, and I was no longer legally part of the Shaw family, I should have been in a hurry to find her and make her keep that promise. But… I hadn't even gone home.Claire opened our chat, only to realize I hadn't sent her a single message for more than two months. Our chat history would show that I had sent far more messages to her than she sent to me. I would always check on her and practically make her the center of my world. She had always assumed I would keep doing that for the rest of m

Guilt appeared in Julian's eyes, but he quickly denied it stubbornly. "That's not true. That's all a misunderstanding. Robin must've spread those rumors on purpose to ruin our relationship. You're the only one in my heart, and I've never loved anyone else. Everything I said is true. You have to believe me."Julian opened his arms and tried to hug her, but Evelyn stepped aside. She looked at him with doubt in her eyes. "My mother has always been careful about things like this. If she said that, then that means she had already looked into it. But I'll still verify it myself. I won't accuse you without proof."With that, Evelyn left without giving Julian another glance, no matter how hard he tried to stop her.Half an hour later, she got the truth from her assistant. In the past, Julian had left because he had fallen for another woman. It had nothing to do with her mother or with me. The reason she had been pushed into marrying me was only so I could help her through the grief.

I accepted every one of those gifts. I was part of the reason the Shaw family had become what it was, after all. Then, I sold them and turned them into cash before depositing the money in my account.Another month had passed before Claire came to see me again. This time, she had dressed up carefully and walked into my house carrying a bouquet of roses. She looked at me gently and asked, "So much time has passed. You should be over your tantrum by now, right? If you are, come home with me, alright? Everyone at home misses you."I stood on the second floor and looked down at her in the middle of the living room, my voice calm. "Claire, I admit I used to love you very much. I would have done anything for you. But I don't love you anymore now, and I don't want to marry you. I don't want to see you anymore."Claire's face darkened. Just as she was about to say something, a familiar voice rang out behind her. "So, you do know that Robin lives here, Claire."I froze and looked toward
