I am caught. And trapped.
I am held in a place where I have no hope of escaping. At least not with my own strength.
I glance around the room I am kept in. Memorizing each detail and craving them in my head in preparation for my escape.
I have done it once and can do it again.
"So you said you found her outside the hut?" A huge girl with short brown hair says to my capturer.
She is so tall. I have never seen a lady this tall. standing from height to height with the other man.
The little tiger, who was dragged along with me, lies on my lap. Fast asleep and without a care.
"I told you. She was standing right outside when I saw her." Dressed in light clothing, his gaze moves to me, and I tense up.
Werewolves. The recognition was instinctual.
What are they going to do with me?
"Enough. You are scaring her." A man with white, no. Silver-long locks says. With a fair face and slightly curved eyes. He looks almost like a fairy.
"What do you mean? I didn't even do anything." My capturer complains.
"She is shaking." The huge girl frowns.
I am shaking.
Right. I really am shaking.
"Okay. Enough of all this." The door opens, and a girl with a more reasonable height walks in. "Royce, Leona. Out. I will speak with the human."
"I will go help Darius with the meat."
"I will go, too."
The two exit the room, and her sharp eyes lock on me.
She looks just my age, but why is she so scary?
"What is your mission in no man's land?"
Mission.
"I—i am." What do I say?
"Thinking of lying?" The corner of her lips curls up, and my palms start to sweat.
How does she know?
"Let's do it like this." She drags a chair to my front. The sharp noise startled the little tiger awake. It growls at her, only to be shut down by a more terrifying growl.
The poor thing burrows into my arms, whimpering.
Just now, the pressure she gave me was not one bit inferior to that of Alpha Luke.
Who exactly are these people?
I stare at the ground, not daring to move or breathe too much.
"Good." I hear her soft voice, filled with satisfaction. "Now human. Tell this honorable your name."
"Ivy," I say. Fearing it came out too low, I repeat. "My name is Ivy."
"Where were you coming from?" She follows with another question, and I hesitate.
"Home." My heart pounds against my ribcage, and the blood rush speeds up my need for oxygen.
Are they going to take me back if I tell them? Or will they kill me?
"Make it more detailed. This great one doesn't have the time to play around." She states it calmly.
"I—i—"
"Which pack are you from?" The fairy guy's words were like a steel sword, cutting through my thoughts.
How did he know?
"She is from a pack?" The girl glanced at him and asked.
"Hmm." He says it curtly. "I can pick up a light scent from her."
He can?
"If you are from a pack, then why are you here? In no man's land." She stares at me freezingly.
"I ran away." I breathe out softly.
"Human slavery?" She asks.
"No. I had a home there." I bite on my bottom lip, refusing to say more.
"Oh......" She pushed back her chair, stretching lightly. "Just when I thought we caught a rat, What a waste of time."
Is she looking for a rat? I mean, why?
I stare down at my feet, unmoving. What now?
"Are you cold?" The silver-haired guy asks, and I shake my head. "No."
I am freezing.
"Get up from the ground," he says.
"Yes. Take sit." The girl pulls me up with one hand like I weigh nothing. "I almost forgot you were human. such fragile creatures."
I chew on my inner jaw, unable to resist the urge to ask. "Does this mean you won't kill me any more?"
"Who said anything about killing you?" The long-haired guy pops a brow.
"Of course we aren't going to kill you." The girl adds looking surprised.
"Then will you let me go?" I ask again.
"Why not? Who do you think we are? A group of bandits?" She scowls.
"I don't know." I answer truthfully.
Still, I can't help but feel relieved. I am not going to die.
At least not now.
"Why does she make me feel like a bad person?" She mutters.
"Ivy." I glance up in reflex. surprised that he knows my name.
Oh, I did tell them earlier.
His silver eyes are staring down at me, he says. "I am Kane, and she is Ruby. Sorry for the inconveniences we have caused you."
"Ah...."
"Hey." Ruby smiles at me. Dimples appeared on both sides of her cheeks.
I have dimples too.
She leans in, placing her face right in front of mine. "How old are you, Ivy?"
I pursed my lips, saying a small reply. "Seventeen."
"Wow....Kane." Her eyes go wide. "She is still a baby."
"I am not a baby." I immediately protested. "I am seventeen!!"
"You are a baby."
Calm down, Ivy. Don't argue; she is a werewolf. You know you are not a baby.
"Tell me where you are going. This big sister will take care of you."
I don't want to talk to you. I bury my head in my arms. Squashing the little tiger into crying out.
Oh my. "Sorry." I patted its back, luring it back to sleep.
Almost immediately, the door slams open, and we both jump up in shock.
"Jesus Christ Royce!! Don't break the door." Ruby growls at the intruder, who doesn't seem to care.
"Darius fucked our food up." He announces.
"What did you mean, me? I was doing just fine before the two of you came." A calm voice comes from behind him, and an extremely handsome man with blond hair walks in.
"I won't say that." The huge girl, Leona, frowns. "It just tastes wrong. Maybe it's the spices."
Suddenly, the room is filled with people.
No. Not people.
Werewolves.
********
"This?"
"Is this a sacrifice or what?" Ruby speaks out my thoughts.
Looking at the thoroughly burned, whole deer. I can't help but grimace.
The poor thing is already dead. Why do you have to do this to it?
"This—" Kane frowns. "I don't think this is edible."
"How is it supposed to be edible?" Ruby yells in frustration. "It is burnt. Fully burnt."
"Right." Darius nods thoughtfully. "I see. That must be the problem."
"It's not." I mutter my breath.
"It's not." They all turn to me in unison.
Hah, those werewolves hearing.
Why does it feel like they all have looks and no brains?
"You are supposed to remove the internal organs and wash thoroughly before cooking." I try to explain. Then states. "If you can catch another one, I can help you cook it. I am really good at cooking."
"That's good. Honorable me won't eat that shit even if I have to die." Ruby wrinkled her brows in disgust. Glaring at both Darius and Royce. "You heard her, right? Go hunt a new deer."
"There aren't many animals remaining in this area. It took me more than an hour before I could find that deer." Royce points out.
"Why don't we just cook that little tiger?" Darius says it as if it were the smartest idea he had ever had.
"What!! No."
"You can't. Can't you see that it's Ivy's pet?"
"Why would a human keep a tiger as a pet?" He sulks, sending a pout to Royce, who shrugs.
"How am I supposed to know? Those humans do very weird stuff. Only Hades knows what is going through their head."
"Enough. I have spoken. If you don't catch a deer, Don't even think of coming back." Ruby dictated. baring her teeth. "Ever."
"I knew I shouldn't have come along with you. I must have been sick in the head. This is child abuse!! You hear that...child abuse!!." I watch as the handsome blonde is dragged away by Royce. His voice resounds even after they have gotten out of sight.
He kind of looks pitiful.
"You are cold?" Someone mumbles from behind me.
I turn back to see Kane taking off his light blue fury coat, and without a word, he drapes it over me.
"Haa..." He points at my jaw, and I realize that my mouth is wide open.
"I—sorry. I mean." I cleared the blockage in my throat. "Thank you."
He is very nice.
He is the second-nicest werewolf I have met.
The first is Nana Emma, who works in the kitchen. I will miss her a lot. And Rowan.....
I shake the thoughts out of my head, and my gaze meets Leona's dark one.
Did I do something wrong?
"Come on. Come in." Ruby pulls my collar.
The two didn't come back until the moon was up. Reeking of sweat and blood."What happened?" Leona narrows her eye at the two."We ran into a rouge den." Royce sweeps a hand through his hair.A rouge den?"Is that why you are late?" Ruby scowls, not a single shred of worry on her face. "Hurry. Bring the meat over."She then turns to me. "Ivy. Cook.""Ah....okay.""If you need help," Darius says, but Leona cuts in."I will help.""Th—thanks." I think I should reject her, but I am scared.Don't blame me. Werewolves are very scary creatures. So the rest goes in, leaving just me and her.Uhhhh...is she going to keep staring at me?I cough awkwardly. "I will start now." Lord, she is still staring. I look around, and then an idea pops up in my head after seeing the burned-out fire. "Can you help me, please? Create another fire. To cook it."It takes almost half a minute before she gives a response. "I can.""Okay. Thanks." I use my hand to blow myself.I am sweating. Is it because of the co
My head. I rub my eyes open, blinking at the unfamiliar ceiling.Where am I?"You're awake." A sharp pain hits me when I turn my head to look at the owner of the voice. It's him!! The red-eyed guy."Why are you looking at me like that? I didn't do anything to you." He says.Huh. It feels horrible. It's like being run over by a train. Or, should I say, hit by a helicopter?I close my eyes. I don't really remember what happened. One time it was white, and then it became black, and I just switched off.Could it be the blue rose sickness? No. It can't be enough for me to pass out like that."It's the mate bond." My savior slashes the red eyes guy says.I try not to stare at his face with strands of black hair falling over his forehead, slightly opened my eyes and upturned my lips.He looks just like the devil. Undeniably handsone."You tried to break the mate-bond by rejecting me. Didn't you know that it would hurt?"I almost forgot about that. But the most important issue right now is, "
I climb down the stairs of the plane with shaky legs. The strong wind smacks my hair into my face, and a strand finds its way into my mouth. There goes my first experience ever taking a flight. And I am never doing it again."Are you okay?" Ruby asks upon seeing my blue face, and I look up.Everyone is in good shape, staring at me like I am a weird species that fell out of nowhere."I am alright." I sniff, straightening up. "I am just a little disoriented, but I am fine."It's cold. I wrap my arms around my shoulders, shivering slightly. We are here. In Russia. Where the royal Lycan's are settled. It's my first time traveling so far, and even with the nerve-wracking plane flight, it's hard not to feel excited. Now, I can really embrace the feeling that I have escaped from Alpha Luke's clutches.I am so far away from home.Emiliano grabs my hand, then frowns. "You are freezing." Looking straight at me. "At this rate, you may even die before we arrive."I snatch my hand back, my eyes tw
"Hah." I let out a yawn, massaging my stiff shoulders.Opening my eyes, I come face-to-face with an enlarged head."Haa!!!" I back up against the couch, almost falling over, when he grabs my legs and pulls me back up."Emiliano?" I breathe out, a hand on my chest. What was he doing, staring at me?He barely glanced my way before walking into the bathroom. He is such a strange person. I place my bare legs on the ground, jerking away because of the piercing cold. "No, no way. Let me sleep for a little more."________________When I open my eyes again, the room is empty of Emiliano.I take a long bath, taking my time to use the shower. And there is also a tub. I just have to sit, and it rains on me.This could make me bathe all day, but it wouldn't be nice to waste water, so I turn it off, then tie a towel around me."Haa, why is it so cold today?" I complain softly. "Thankfully, I don't have a fever anymore." I never want to catch a fever after this.Ransacking my bag for something to w
"It's the crown prince, Alpha." Emma says it in a hushed voice. Eyes wide.I take a look and see a man and a woman sucking at their faces, the lady pressed to the wall.Crown Prince Alpha?Isn't that—"Emiliano?"What in the Lord?I stagger back, feeling a slight ache in my chest. Is this the mate bond?"What is going on there?" I turn around at the familiar voice and see Kane behind me."Beta Kane." Eric froze, and so did the others. As the only person functioning properly, I am forced to give a reply. "Nothing."He glances behind me, then pulls me by the wrist. "Ruby is looking everywhere for you; let's go.""Ah—okay." I nod, saying this to Danny's group. "I have to go.""Right!! See you later, Ivy." Emma waves, her face blushing red. What's up with her?"Where were you going with them?" Kane asks."I was waiting for Ruby before, but I didn't see her and was hungry, so we were going to the dining hall together.""Ivy." Kane calls are coming to a halt.Huh.."Although the palace is sa
IVY'S POV."I don't accept you." That was the first thing she said to me."Ah—okay." I nod.Emilliano spoke up, looking straight at his mother. "What is the meaning of this? Didn't you say you wouldn't get involved if I were to find my mate?""I did say that. But now I take it back." The queen says it lightly.Except for the finely carved brows and black hair, she looks nothing like Emilliano. While just sitting there, she exudes an aura that can't be overlooked. So this is how a queen looks?"I won't accept this." Emilliano hisses, gritting his teeth."Your opinion was never needed." Queen Veronica states with a smile that doesn't reach her eye. "Be sure of one thing, Prince. I will never accept this—human to be this next queen."She is harsh. The tension spread across the dining room, and the two stared at each other, their gazes meeting mid-air, with no one willing to back down.Still, the light aroma of the food arranged on the table flows into my nose, and I am unable to resist t
Ivy's pov."I can't even take my eyes off you for a second." Emilliano complains as I walk out of the bathroom, changed into new, clean clothes.I bow my head, saying softly. "I am sorry.""You are sorry? Is that the only thing you know how to do?" I hear him scowl. "Apologize?""I am sorry.""I already said to stop it." Emilliano growls, and I flinch back. What did I do wrong now?Emilliano sigh. I glance up and see that he is ruffling his hair. And when his eyes move toward me, I quickly hide my gaze. Sulking."I will ask you again. Last night, did Veronica say something to you?" He stares down on me, his voice calm.I shift on my foot, nodding stiffly."And the bruise on your wrist?" He breathes out roughly.I rub on the spot that has now turned purple. Muttering. "She grabbed my wrist and pushed me to the wall.""Why didn't you say anything?""Because she is your woman.""Who says she is my woman?" He snarls. But I saw them kissing so, "She is.""She is not.""She is.""She is not
Ivy's pov.I only have twenty days left. Twenty days and I am still unable to achieve anything new on my bucket list. This isn't going to work."What are you thinking about?" Ruby's face occupies the whole of my vision and I lean back in reflex."What?" I ask back."Did something happened between you and brother?" She raise a brow.I shake my head. "Nothing happened.""Then what is with that face?" Her fingers clamp on my left cheek, pulling it out and I move away."Ruby." I turn to her. "Do you think I can go outside?""Outside where?""To the city?" I tilt my head, looking up at her. "I want to take a look around.""Not now." Ruby shakes her head. "There will be a lot of visitors arriving, it's unsafe.""Because of the royal hunt?" I ask. It is a topic that everyone is excited about."The royal hunt is only for a week—we can go after that." She explains.A week. That is seven days. Adding to the days remaining before the royal hunt which begins this week Saturday it makes it almost
