Kael’s POV

I didn’t sleep.

Not the kind that restores or resets. My body lay still beside her, but my mind stayed awake, sharp and restless, replaying moments I hadn’t meant to memorize the cadence of Ava’s breathing, the way her fingers twitched slightly when she dreamed, the faint crease between her brows that appeared even in rest.

I stared at the ceiling for hours, watching shadows crawl and retreat as the city lights shifted outside. I’d spent years mastering insomnia, turning it into a tool rather than a weakness. Late nights built empires. Exhaustion sharpened decisions.

This was different.

This wasn’t strategy or ambition keeping me awake. It was awareness. The dangerous kind. The kind that made a man notice how close another person was, how easily they could reach him if he let them.

Her hand lay inches from mine.

Not touching.

That distance felt deliberate, even if it wasn’t. Like an unspoken agreement neither of us had named: we would not cross lines unless we both chose to

  • Irresistible Sin   Chapter 20

Ava’s POV The change didn’t happen suddenly. It didn’t announce itself with slammed doors or sharp words. No possessive comments, no confrontations, nothing to make me stop in my tracks. It was quieter than that. Softer, subtler, but persistent enough to make me notice it. It began in small ways. The first morning after our “agreement” had quietly shifted after the week on the yacht and the nights of reckless laughter and raw honesty Kael didn’t reach for his coffee. Or, more accurately, he forgot it entirely. I noticed when. I stirred awake and found him leaning back in the chair by the window, tablet in hand, shoulders tense, jaw tight. Not stressed but alert. Like he was bracing himself for something. “You’re not drinking that?” I asked, nodding toward his mug, my voice softer than I intended. He glanced at it, shrugged, then returned to his screen. “Forgot.” I raised an eyebrow. Kael never forgot. His life ran on schedules and routines, the kind that made billionaires pred

  • Irresistible Sin   Chapter 19

Kael’s POV The first thing I noticed was the absence. Not the dramatic kind no slammed doors, no final words echoing in the penthouse. Just the quiet awareness that Ava wasn’t beside me when I woke up. Her side of the bed was still warm, the faint scent of her shampoo lingering on the pillow. She hadn’t left. She was just… already awake. I found her by the window, phone pressed to her ear, posture relaxed. She wore one of my shirts again unbuttoned at the collar, sleeves rolled up. Comfortable. Too comfortable. I stopped walking. “Yeah,” she said softly into the phone, smiling a little. “That works for me.” The smile lingered longer than it should’ve. I didn’t interrupt. I just leaned against the doorway and watched. Ava nodded, listened, laughed quietly once an easy laugh, unguarded. The kind she didn’t give just anyone. “See you later,” she said before ending the call. She turned and startled slightly when she saw me. “Oh.hey. I didn’t hear you.” “Clearly,” I replied, k

  • Irresistible Sin   Chapter 18

Ava’s POVMorning came softly, like it was afraid to wake us.I knew I was awake long before I opened my eyes because Kael’s arm was heavy around my waist, solid and warm, his breathing steady against the back of my neck. The city outside was quiet in that rare, suspended moment before it remembered how to be loud. For a few seconds, I let myself pretend we were still on the yacht. No skyline. No obligations. No invisible countdown ticking above our heads.Just this.I shifted slightly, testing the space between us. Kael didn’t stir. That alone felt dangerous. Kael Ravenwood didn’t sleep deeply. He was always alert, always in control. Seeing him like this unguarded, human made something ache in my chest.I stared at the ceiling, my thoughts spiraling. This wasn’t supposed to happen.I agreed to his arrangement because I needed stability. Leverage. Time. He needed an image, a companion, someone who could play a role without asking questions. It was clean. Simple. Temporary. I told mys

  • Irresistible Sin   Chapter 17

Kael’s POV Reality had a nasty way of creeping back in just when things were finally starting to feel perfect. We returned to the yacht the next day. Ava was quiet, staring at the ocean as if trying to solve something in her head but refusing to say it aloud. I gave her space. I didn’t know if it was because of the sea breeze or because we were heading back to a reality neither of us could escape from. For the past few days, it felt like we were suspended in some kind of dream. Just me, her, and the ocean. Nothing to think about but each other. No calls, no business meetings, no deals. I didn’t even know when the line between arrangement and real feelings began to blur. I’d never say it out loud, but I liked waking up with her beside me. I liked how she hogged the sheets, how she murmured in her sleep. I even liked how she raised an eyebrow whenever I kissed her shoulder just to annoy her. Now we were back in my world, and suddenly I wasn’t sure I wanted to stay in it without her

  • Irresistible Sin   Chapter 16

Ava’s POV The days passed quickly. It felt like just yesterday that I said “fine” to that one-week extension. Back then, I thought it would be hard to spend more time with him the same man I once called arrogant, manipulative, and insufferably persistent. But now, on our last night on the island… saying goodbye felt impossible. Tomorrow, we’ll return to the yacht. And after the yacht… back to the real world. I glanced at the man across from me as we lay together in the hammock-style net he’d made more “comfortable” with soft throw pillows. David wore only board shorts, and I was draped in the thin, almost transparent white robe he’d picked up for me at the boutique yesterday. “I want you to remember tonight,” he whispered in my ear, fingers playing with a lock of my hair. “Not because it’s the last… but because it’s the best.” I didn’t answer right away. My body simply nodded, while my heart wrapped itself slowly around feelings I didn’t know how to name fear, excitement, lo
