Chapter Thirty-Seven

Seeing Remi’s face was worth this week-long secret and trying to be distant. It was actually tough for me. Briar was a mess; she has never traveled, the flight here was a nightmare, the hotel stay was a nightmare, and lying to Remi was a nightmare.

“What are you doing here?”

“I wanted to surprise you.”

“It's definitely a surprise. Was Tyson just helping you out?”

“Ty and Grace are watching Briar. They volunteered to help when I told Tyson what I was planning.”

“So, you don't regret this?”

I took a step toward her and cupped her face.

“The only thing I regret is not coming after you sooner.”

I leaned in a kissed her lips. I'm not lying to her. The biggest regret in my life was not chasing after her when she left the first time. I wasn't going to make the same mistake again.

Remi broke the kiss and invited me into her apartment.

“How long are you here for.”

“Awhile.” She gave me a confused look, and I couldn't help but smile at her.

“What about Briar?”

“She’ll be fine;
