Chapter 2

It was already 5 pm, it was time for Piper Florist to close and Sadie was seen putting the flower pots that were previously displayed in front of the shop inside. She did it alone but didn't feel burdened in the slightest.

That day not many customers came, but that's how business is, it's not always busy and makes a lot of money.

After changing clothes, Piper went downstairs to meet Sadie with the turkey in her hand. She also saw Hunter following Piper from behind.

“Have you tidied everything up?” Piper said.

“Yeah, and it looks like we're going to have to replace the roses in the fridge, they're no longer good,” Sadie said.

"Okay, I'll go buy new flowers tomorrow, do you want to come with me?" Piper said.

"Ah, I want to come and help you but I can't leave my grandma alone in the morning, I'm sorry Mrs. Piper,” Sadie said.

"It's okay, this is the Turkey I promised you, I hope you like it, I'm not a good cook but I tried my best to make it," Piper said and handed Sadie a big box of turkey.

Sadie was so happy when she received the unexpected gift, she didn't even have to ask her grandma to cook dinner for them.

"Thank you, Mrs. Piper, I'm going home now, I don't want my grandma to wait too long, see you tomorrow Mrs. Piper,” Sadie said and left the store.

“Then I'll go too,” Hunter said.

“Ah, do you want to go too? Are you going back to your apartment?” Piper said.

"Of course not, I'll go somewhere else," Hunter said.

“Don't go to that girl's place,” Piper said.

"Who? Audrey? Geez, I'm not interested in her, don't worry, she's just my overnight friend, I'll go first, bye Piper, and thanks for your milk," Hunter said, as if teasing her.

“Watch your words, Hunter!” Piper said and Hunter just laughed as he walked out of the store.

Sadie walked alone towards her house with a smile on her face, the street was quite busy at that time but she was enjoying it without knowing if someone was following her from a distance.

Arriving home, Sadie immediately put the Turkey she brought on the dining table and called her grandmother.

"Grandma, I'm home," Sadie said and she went into her grandmother's room, she saw her grandmother sleeping there.

Sadie approached Mia on her bed, sat down, and stroked Mia's arm gently to wake her up.

"Grandma, I'm home," Sadie said and Mia slowly opened her eyes.

“Oh you've come, are you hungry? I must have fallen asleep and haven't made dinner for you, what time is it?” Mia said and immediately got up from her bed.

"I have a surprise for you, come with me to the dining table," Sadie said and helped her grandmother up and out of the room.

“Sadie, what is that?” Mia said.

“Mrs. Piper gave it to us, this is Turkey, have you ever eaten it?” Sadie said.

"Yeah, only once when I was your age," Mia said.

"Oh really? Then Sit down and I'll prepare a plate for you," Sadie went to the kitchen to get plates and other cutlery.

“Mrs. Piper already heated it for us so I don't need to heat it again, her daughter Sharon just had her third birthday yesterday, so I had to buy her something as a gift," Sadie said and went back to the dining table.

“Aren't you doing knitting? Maybe it's a suitable gift for her daughter," Mia said.

“How do you know? Did you check my room?” Sadie said and looked at her grandmother with a smile.

“Your room is very messy, I was just intending to clean it until I found a roll of knitting thread under your bed, since when did you start knitting? You're just like your mother, she also loves knitting and-"

"Here, I gave this thigh to you grandma, eat it, I'm very hungry," Sadie said as if she wanted to ignore Mia's words about her mother.

Mia realized that she made a mistake so she had to fix it before it ruined their dinner.

“Can you clean yourself before eating?” Mia said.

“No, I can't wait to try it,” Sadie said and as she was about to take another piece of thigh, Mia smacked her hand.

"Shower first," Mia said and Sadie sighed.

"Okay, don't start eating without me, I love you, Grandma," Sadie kissed Mia's cheek again.

"I love you too Sadie," Mia said and watched her granddaughter go to her room to clean herself.

Not long after, Mia heard a knock on the door, making her get up from her chair and approach the entrance. She peeked out to see who was coming from the window next to the door.

"Who are you?" Mia said as she opened the door for a man.

"I'm looking for a girl who previously came here, she works at my sister's flower shop," the man said.

“Oh, Sadie? But who are you? Why are you looking for my granddaughter?” Mia said.

"Oh she's your granddaughter, ah I just...I just forgot to say thank you because she helped me," the man said.

“Help you? How did you get here?” Mia said.

“I met her at the flower shop and followed her here, but I forgot her name so I decided to come and meet her to thank her,” The man said.

Sadie came out of the room and found an empty dining table. She looked for her grandmother who turned out to be at the entrance, apparently talking to someone.

“Grandma, who's coming?” Sadie said and walked Mia to the door.

“Grandma, who… you?” Sadie said.

"You know him?" Mia said.

“Hi again, yeah we know each other, right Sadie?” The man said.

“No, why are you here? I mean, did you follow me all the way here? I can report you to the police and-"

"Hey hey, don't talk like that in front of your grandma, she might get the wrong idea, I just want to say thank you for helping me," the man said.

“Help you? I didn't even do anything because you shouted at me and wait what's your name? Hunter right?” Sadie said.

"Yes, yes I'm Hunter, look she knows me," Hunter said and confused Mia.

No one knew what Hunter's intentions were in coming to Sadie's house at that time, and no one suspected Hunter's presence there because Sadie knew the flower shop owner, Piper, knew him.
