I CHALLENGE YOU

Kyle stood outside staring at Brookes as he walked into the house. He felt so angry that he didn't know what to do. He got into his car and drove out of the villa.

He drove to a quiet spot, came out of his car, and screamed. While he kept screaming, two girls who were inside the bush plucking some fruits heard his screams and ran out to stare at him. When he saw Elena and Natalie, he looked at both of them in surprise.

"Elena said, "Oh, Kyle, it's you."

Kyle tried to control his emotions and stood by his car, "I'm sorry about that. I was just trying to let out some steam."

"No, don't apologize," Elena said.

Natalie kept staring at him just like Elena. She also fell in love at first sight. She could not believe that Kyle looked so handsome. When Elena had described him to her, she thought Elena was exaggerating.

"Hi, my name is Natalie," she said. "I am Elena's friend. She said she made the mistake of....erm...."

"Forget about it," Kyle replied. "It is all in the past. What are you two doing here?"

"Oh, we came to get my favorite fruit," Elena said.

"Really? Kyle asked.

Elena nodded, "You want some?"

"Some what?" He asked

"Mangos," Elena replied. She ran back into the bush and brought back four of the mangos she had plucked. She offered them to him and said, "Here, they are very sweet. I don't think you'll get this kind of mango anywhere else. This is the best part of Labrador that grows these mangos."

"Oh no, there's no need for that. I don't like mangos," he replied.

"Who doesn't like mangos?" Elena asked. "They are very tasty, trust me."

"I don't want them. Kyle said politely. "Thank you very much, I truly appreciate the gesture."

"So, why were you screaming?" Elena asked, trying to make conversation. "I mean, it's weird for you to just come to a quiet spot and start screaming. If other people were here, they would have thought that something was wrong with you."

Kyle sighed. "As I said, I just wanted to let out steam."

"So, in the big city where you came from, you let off steam by screaming?" Elena asked.

Kyle laughed. "Yeah, I guess sometimes I do that. But tell me, Elena, how do you let off steam here?"

"Well, I cry," Elena replied.

"Oh really? And that works for you?"

"Yes, it does," Elena said excitedly.

When Natalie saw that Kyle wasn't paying any attention to her, she moved closer and said, "Me too, I also cry when I want to let off steam."

Kyle nodded, "I see. Okay, I'll just leave you girls to enjoy your mangoes. I just want to be alone."

"Oh, okay. There's no need for you to leave. We are already done with what we came for. We'll just take the mangos and go."

"No, you do not have to leave because of me. I mean, this place is big enough. I can just find a quiet spot."

As Kyle turned to get into his car, Elena said, "Hold on. Are you, by any chance, related to the late Mr. Bennett?"

"How do you know him?" Kyle asked.

Elena smiled, "Well, I used to run little errands for him, and also, I've been looking for a way to apply to be one of the people who will serve at his burial. I heard they need people to serve the guests. Erm... Natalie's cousin works in one of the companies that have been hired to do that, so we are each looking for a slot."

"That's nice. The burial is in two days, you girls can come and serve," Kyle replied.

Elena was surprised, "Really?"

"Yeah, if you come, you can just tell anyone that is at the gate that Kyle asked you to come."

"But I don't think they'll let us come in if we just say so," Natalie replied.

"Really? Okay," Kyle put his hand in his pocket and gave each of them his card, "Once you get to the gate, show it to them, and they will let you in. You're both welcome to serve if you want to."

"Thank you very much," Elena said.

"Son't worry, you'll be paid for it," he added.

"Alright, thank you," they both chorused before running back into the bush while he went into his car and drove off.

When he finally got to a quiet spot, he sat down thinking about what to do. Samantha was the woman he loved so much but he had just lost her to the man he hated so much. Jordan was the reason why his mom died; he could not forget that.

Yes, it wasn't his fault that his father chose to remarry. His father had been married to Jordan's mother since she was his first wife, but she died when he was still young, and a few years later, he married his mom, and they had him. Unfortunately, his father died three years later.

His grandfather loved Jordan so much back then, so Jordan took advantage of that opportunity and kept causing problems for his mom, throwing fits here and there. He made life difficult for his mom, and because she was going to great extremes to please Jordan, which indirectly meant pleasing his grandfather, she ended up falling sick.

Everyone thought it was a light illness, but then she died, and he became an orphan.

After her death, his grandfather turned his attention to him, and he became his favorite, but then he couldn't stop blaming Jordan for his mother's death because he gave her a hard time.

He did his best to avoid Jordan, even schooling far away. He wouldn't have come back if his grandfather didn't die. His grandfather kept asking him to come, but he did not want to because he knew that his grandfather's only wish was for him and his brother to be united.

He had to come after his grandfather died and also, his family had so much fortune, and if he did not show up, it would have all gone to Jordan.

He always planned in his heart that when his grandfather eventually shared his fortune, he would give half of it to Samantha because she always told him that she wanted to live a luxurious life. He could not believe that, in the end, she chose Jordan.

He was convinced that Jordan must have searched for her and convinced her to date him, and he believed that Samantha loved him. So why would she agree to Jordan? There was something else he didn't know about, and he had to find out.

But there was no way he could stay in that house with everything that was going on. Turning a blind eye to Samantha and Jordan was going to be painful. He knew Jordan would do everything possible to get on his nerves, and he just had to find a way to pay him back.

Perhaps he needed to speak to Samantha privately. If it worked out, he would be able to convince her to give up on Jordan. Yes, Samantha was his girl and they had been through ups and downs together.

When he was very sick, Samantha, who was not feeling well at the time, came to the hospital and insisted on donating blood to him. He refused because he did not want her to risk her life, but she kept insisting until the doctor allowed her.

He knew that Samantha loved him more than her own life. She was willing to sacrifice her own well-being just for him to get better. How could Brookes claim that such a person did not love him? No, their relationship was perfect, and she was the best thing in his life.

Yes, she had the habit of staying off for a while without talking to him, but even her best friend had complained about the same thing. So he took it that she was just wired that way. But after hearing what Brookes said, he had become upset.

Could it be that all this time, she wasn't talking to him; she was actually cheating on him? No, he could not let Brookes's words get to his head. Samantha wasn't that sort. He decided to go back home; he was going to face it head-on. Samantha was his girl; she belonged to him, and no matter what, he would get her back.

He drove back to the villa, and when he got in, Jordan saw him and said, "Oh, you came back? I thought you ran away like the little child you are. You even hit your brother because of a woman."

"You're not my brother," Kyle replied. "Yes, we may share the same whatever, but I do not consider you family. For the record, I am only here because of my late grandfather.

And as for my girl, this is a word of warning: whatever belongs to me, I will take back. You can take my word for it."

Jordan shook his head and laughed, "You're just a child, Kyle. What are you? Twenty-five, twenty-six? And you think you can go head to head with me? Oh, come on, you should know better."

"Then I challenge you. I challenge you that before I leave, I will get back what belongs to me." Kyle said confidently.

Jordan smiled, "Fine, the game is on. Let's see who wins."
