Selene sat back, her gaze focused as she spoke.

“The Voss family is in need of a capable security team,” she said,. “After the incident, my father insisted we upgrade. But between you and me, our team is undertrained. They wouldn’t last ten seconds against a real threat.”

Jason stayed silent, letting her finish.

“You’re clearly experienced,” she continued. “I want you to be my personal bodyguard. And more than that, I want you to train the entire Voss security team.”

Jason leaned back slightly, his fingers resting lightly on the edge of the table. “That’s generous,” he replied coolly. “But I’m not interested in being responsible for the safety of anyone.”

Selene did not expect that answer from Jason. However she didn’t hesitate. “The salary is one million a year. Bonuses on top.”

Jason raised an eyebrow, clearly impressed by how enthusiastic she was, though his answer came without pause. “Still, I have to pass.”

Selene blinked, thrown off by his response. She hadn’t expected him to t

Gossips circulated about how Selene Voss had arrived with her boyfriend. Of course, that wasn’t true. Jason and Selene heard the murmurs, but neither of them bothered to stop them. It wasn’t anything unusual, events like this were always full of whispers and assumptions. The Smith family had also attended the event. The organizer had sent invitations to every wealthy and influential family in the city. And since the Smiths were powerful in their own right, they naturally made the list.Vanessa heard the rumors too. However she didn’t care about any gossip and ignored them. She was only here because she wanted to see if she could find anyone willing to invest in smith royale. Unlike Vanessa, Seraphina, Cassira, and Marvin, standing close to her, were intrigued by the news, for different reasons. Cassira and Seraphina had their own motivations, while Marvin had his.Selene Voss was a well-known woman, regularly in the news thanks to her family’s business, Voss Industries. One of the

The young woman’s eyes softened with relief as she stepped closer. “How are you?” she asked, her voice was a mix of warmth and disbelief. This really surprised Jason, because he didn't know her at all, yet she was acting like they were familiar. But wait, the more he looked at her, the more familiar he thought she looked. Jason blinked, still caught off guard. “I’m… fine,” he replied, cautious. “Do I know you?”She looked a little offended by his question. How could he not recognise her? Was he joking? “You really don’t remember me?” There was disappointment in her tone, but not anger more like someone who had hoped for something different.Jason studied her face. She did seem familiar. And her voice was too, however when he tried to remember anything, nothing came up. “Nope.” He answered her casually. “Perhaps, you should refresh my memory.”Her eyes softened further, as if she understood his confusion. Then, with a gentle sigh, she said, “I’m the woman you rescued from kidnappers

How dare he gawk at her and her friends while they were working out?Jason, meanwhile, was still on the phone. “You do that,” Jason said, ending the call with Jamal. He tossed his phone into his gym bag and moved to the cable machine, adjusting the weight like nothing had happened. He didn’t notice Helen and her friends approaching until she was close. Even closer than casual.“You got a problem?” she asked, arms crossed, her voice a bit loud, but controlled enough to not attract attention.Jason paused mid-rep. He turned slowly, with a neutral facial expression, then took a moment before answering.“No,” he said. “Should I?”She blinked, caught off guard by his tone. He was not defensive, not smug, just... cool. How dare he? He was just ogling her a second ago, and now he was trying to play it cool, like he did nothing?“You were staring at me and my friend, loser.” Her second friend spoke up for her.Jason didn't remember staring at anyone., so he shook his head, “I was thinking,”

The Montgomery family members believed Jason had to die. They couldn’t let him walk away without consequences. If word got out that they’d spared him, it would send the wrong message—that they were weak, that they could be crossed. Their legacy, their influence, everything they had built over generations would begin to unravel. Elvis’s face paled as he listened to his family discuss Jason. They were making a big mistake. Elvis had learned his lesson and didn’t have any desire to go another round. “He nearly ended my life,” he said quietly, hoping they'd understand what a danger Jason really was. Caspian ignored Elvis. “We’ll make an example of this Jason Wolfe,” he said at last. Elvis sighed, not bothering to say anything else. No one was going to listen to him now. However, maybe that wasn’t such a bad thing, he debated himself. Elvis was having a change of heart all of a sudden. Sure, he was afraid of Jason, but he couldn't ignore the fire burning within him, that need for r

A few days passed after the incident at the harbor, where Jason crippled Elvis and saved Vanessa. Yet he was seen as the bad guy by the smith family, and to some extent even Vanessa himself.Jason didn't hear anything from Vanessa. And he didn’t try to reach out either, he was too busy searching for the dagger. The good news? He’d finally uncovered something about Elara Von Halen. She was an underworld boss. The one who ruled the east side of Velmora City. The discovery about her role as the queenpin caught Jason off guard. As far as he knew, the east side belonged to Don Luciano, a powerful crime boss Jason himself had put in power.Six years ago, there was a brutal war between two underworld figures, Don Luciano and Don Tony. Both were fighting for control of that part of the city, and the chaos had rippled across the entire underworld. Acting on behalf of the Eclipse Syndicate, who wanted stability, Jason stepped in and helped Luciano take the throne. But now, some how, this Von Ha

He had been hoping that Elvis would take care of the problem for him, make sure Jason never saw the light of day again. But here he was, standing tall, not a scratch on him, and with Vanessa safely at his side. Marvin was bitterly disappointed.Lance, noticing the same thing, scoffed loudly. “What is he doing here? I thought you were supposed to exchange yourself for her?” His voice was heavy with disgust. He would have liked it more if Jason had just died at Elvis's hands. Honestly, that’s what the whole Smith family was hoping for. They’d all been praying for it, thinking it would rid them of the unwanted complication that was Jason. With him gone, they could finally save their company by convincing her to get married to Marvin. But now here he stood, unharmed and with Vanessa safe and sound, and Lance could feel his stomach twist in frustration.Jason descended the ramp with a grin. He knew they weren't happy to see him unharmed, but he wasn't bothered. “No need to worry, father-

Elvis coughed, wheezing. He clawed at Jason’s arm with his hand, “Unhand… me… you imbecile,” he struggled to breath out, yet he was still trying to act like he had control.Jason leaned in closer, tightening his grip on Elvis' neck.“You’re nothing,”Then he pulled him off the beam , and slammed him again. Just as Elvis was almost out of breath Jason let him go. Elvis gasped, choking on air as Jason dropped him into the ground. He collapsed to his knees and touched his throat. He looked at Jason, his eyes bloodshot.“You… you don’t know who you’re messing with,” Elvis wheezed, coughing hard. “I’m a Montgomery, you idiot! When I get out of here, I’ll… make sure you and your family are wiped off the face of the earth.”Jason heard his threat, however he couldn't be threatened by someone like Elvis. Without warning, Jason twisted Elvis’s arm behind his back and snapped the elbow inward with a sickening crunch.Crack! The sound of the arm breaking rang out throughout the deck.Elvis scre

The guard's warning caught Elvis off guard. His grin disappeared for a split second. He didn’t expect Jason to actually be here, he had assumed that, the nobody would refuse to do it because he’d be too afraid to come here and face him. However even though he had come, Jason had made a grave mistake, because he just walked himself into a death trap. Well, that's what Elvis believed.Just as quickly as his grin disappeared, a dark chuckle bubbled from his chest. “Well, well, well,” he muttered, directing his gaze at Vanessa,“Seems I was wrong. The little dog of yours finally came out of hiding.”Vanessa's face lightened up with hope when she heard the mention of Jason. He was here for her? She was relieved. However at the same time she worried that Jason's attempt to rescue her would be futile. He seriously couldn't stand up against Elvis and his men. He was just one person against more than a dozen of Elvis's men. She had seen Jason fight, but still his skills wouldn't be enough to
