Jake's POV

I have been working out like crazy since she left back to California. She came to see me for my birthday and since our birthdays are only three weeks apart, I got to have her here for her birthday this year too.

she stayed here for a whole month, she came a week before my birthday and left a few days after her birthday.

That particular event a few days after her birthday keeps playing in my head over and over. Call me stupid if you'd like, but I have never been the kind to like sleeping around with every girl that comes my way. I can't, most times, I can control my urges...but not when the right girl has been in front of my eyes all this time and I'm too much of a chicken to tell her the truth of how I feel.

I have been keeping myself busy at my dad's ranch working nonstop so she's not in my mind. I figured the busier I am, the less time I have to think of her, it's just hard not to.

Everything around here reminds me of her, the whole damn town reminds me of her. God, I'm losing my mind. I'm just glad we're only a few days away from going back to school so I can bury my head In books. It'll keep me busier so I have less time to think of her.

I get so fucken angry just to think she may meet some guy out there. I wish I could just be honest with her.

I had told her brother Matt to go with me and some other friends to meet up at the new mall to hang out. I figured I'd take advantage while we're out there so I can get new shoes and clothes while we're there.

I came home last night from the dorm since we had already registered a few days back, but I forgot to grab some of my uniform gear and had to come back home.

Carissa has been wanting to go check out the mall for a while, so Jeremy and I figured what the hell. They're sure to have a store out there where I can get a backpack anyway. I'm a business management major, and I'll be taking over Dad's ranch when I graduate.

I just hope Matt doesn't oversleep tomorrow and forget to meet up with us. He tends to sleep a lot lately. That asshole better not leave me hanging.

I decided to go up to my room early tonight since it's almost ten now. If I stay up any later, I'm probably gonna be too tired to get up myself. I went upstairs to my room and took a quick bath.

When I got out of the shower, I wrapped myself in my towel and went to my dresser to get my pajama pants out.

I got in bed, my sheets still smell like Brianna from the last time she was here. I smiled brightly holding her pillow, and decided to text her.

Jake- Hey beautiful.

Brianna- Hi love❤

I love it when she calls me like that.

Jake- what are you doing? Still reading a book in bed, aren't you?

Brianna- Lol. No, not tonight. Don't judge- I'm watching a Spanish soap opera.

Jake- 🙄Oh god Brie, that's so cheesy. Let me guess, Betty in whatever, I forgot.

Brianna- Lol, 😂yes. Betty in New York.

Jake- why do you like watching that shit anyway? They're so boring. Way too much fucken drama too.

Brianna- shut up, the only reason I watch them is because...... well, you.

Jake- 🤔 I don't get it. What do I have to do with a soap opera?

Brianna- because I miss you asshole, and the guy that plays Daniel reminds me of you, he looks so much like you.😊❤

Jake- 🙂 you miss me?

Brianna- you know I do. I miss you, a lot!

Jake- How much? 🥰🤔

Brianna- More than you can imagine.❤

Jake- it's been two weeks since you left. But yeah, I miss you too.

Brianna- I wish you were here now.

Jake- You do?🥰

Brianna- Yup. I need a pillow. I can't seem to find my spot tonight.

Jake- 😥 you suck. I thought you meant because you miss me. Or maybe you missed my lips or my body.

Brianna-😳....... I do..... I miss those sets of beautifully plumped lips. But I also need a comfy pillow, so your body would come very much in handy. 😁

Jake-whatever Reynolds.....wanna video chat?

Brianna- Jake, we both know how that's gonna end. We made a promise, no more sexting, no more you know.... naughty video chats.

Jake- Is that what you want?😥

I wait for a while for her to answer. She's probably gotten upset at me. Fuck, why did I have to go there?

Brianna- No...that's not what I want. But, we gotta try and behave more. If we get caught, ..... I don't want us to ever stop being friends Jake. I love you, you know that. I just don't want to jeopardize our friendship. You mean the world to me, I don't know what I'd do without my best friend.

Jake- it's true... it was better than the first time when we turned fourteen remember?

Brianna- .......yes, I remember, and yes it was. I just, we need to really think of what we are doing Jake. We're becoming a bit too intimate, don't you think?

Jake- And what if we do? We're not kids anymore Brianna. We can handle it, we have up to now.

Brianna- I guess,......you're right. I Can't wait to see you again.☹

Jake- I know, I wish you could be here with us this year. We're gonna kick ass again watch... and when we do, I'm gonna dedicate my last game to you.

Brianna- You will kick ass, I know it. You're the best quarterback in the world.

Jake- 😊 Thanks beautiful. I gotta get some sleep. I'm meeting your brother and Jeremy tomorrow at the mall.

Brianna- 🤔 Let me guess? Supply shopping at the last minute?

Jake- 😪 Yeah, I'm sorry. I've just been really busy.

Brianna- I told you when I was still there that we should get stuff... you didn't want to listen! God, you too are just alike... always procrastinating until the last minute.

I placed my phone to charge, missing her more than ever now. I got in bed and turned off my lamp, called it a night.
