Cassandra is alive

Cai had been asleep when he woke up startled, was it a dream or had it been real, Cassandra was alive. He immediately sat up on the couch and glanced around at the source of the sound. The television had been left on. He turned on the volume, and there she was, swarmed with reporters and several soldiers by the side.

Cai rubbed his eyes constantly thinking that he was dreaming, but it was right there infront of him, his mother on the news, her looks disheveled, her clothes torn. She seemed to have returned from the dead.

The news ended soon, maybe due to the fact that this was a foreign country. But news about his mother had to grab some attention especially after their company had partnered with The Malcolm International Corporation.

Cai rushed to the bathroom to pour cold water on his face, maybe it was all in his mind, this could help him wake up. There was no way she were alive, not when they had buried her a year ago.

Immediately his mobile rang, Zichi was calling.

" I can't believe it Cai, mother is alive, she is really alive. I'm headed there right now. Cai....I can't believe it brother.. please hurry," Zichi faked happiness, sniffing her nose so that Cai could tell that she had been shocked as well and shedding tears.

" Are you really sure about this Zichi? Mother can't be alive, we buried her,"

" You better get back home Cai, I'm hanging up now. I'm on my way to meet her, I can't believe my mother is alive and back to us" Zichi said and cut the line. She got back inside the chopper as they flew back. What a waste of their resources, but finally it was done. They had been able to pull it off, no one would ever doubt this, especially when the army was involved.

Cai dropped his phone hard on the table still unable to believe what had just transpired. It was at that moment that Zia who was sleeping on the couch next to his suddenly woke up, holding her head, seemingly dizzy from sleep.

" Cai what's wrong, why are you shouting? Did something happen?"

" I'm really sorry to have woken you up Zia, I didn't notice that you were here, please go back to sleep. Come, let me take you to your room,"

Cai held her as he led her to her room. She was heavy with sleep and she followed after his lead.

" I cooked your food, please warm it up and eat. I must have dozed off waiting for you to wake up,"

" Don't worry about that Zia, now sleep. I'll warm the food,"

Cai helped tuck her in bed before he returned to the living room. His mind in a total mess. If her mother was really alive, she would want to meet Zia, but how would he tell her all these without revealing to her everything.

His mobile beeped.

" I hope you don't tell Zia anything. It's better if she didn't find out about this. I'm sure it's easier this way. But incase you are ready to open up about your betrayal, then you are free to do as you please," The text from Asriel read.

Cai slumbered to the couch, exhausted by all these. How much longer would he have to put up with all these lies. Zia didn't deserve all these. She had been too good to get all these cruelty. But again being in the dark could be better, having nothing much to worry about.

Cai took a second to think. He had to see his mother, not after he got a new chance to be with her. It wasn't even his dream that she could be alive, but now, everything had changed.

Quickly Cai went into his room and packed a few of his clothes into his bag. He opened his closet where he picked several dollars and placed them on the kitchen counter. That would be more than enough to keep Zia going for the time he was away.

Ready, Cai entered Zia's room, she was fast asleep. He tiptoed into the room and gave her a light peck on the cheeks before he adjusted the blanket on her.

Glancing at his watch, it was already five in the morning. Getting out, he called a taxi which took him to the airport.

At Arizona, at the remote area swarmed with journalist Zichi walked out of the chopper and immediately ran to her mother. Her make up ruined from the river of tears she had shed. She immediately ran past the officers and ran into Cassandra's arm.

" Mother......mother..." Zichi cried. She amazed herself as well being a good actress.

" I can't believe this mother, you were alive after all. Oh thank you Lord. I missed you mother....you are alive," Zichi couldn't even fathom her words anymore, all she knew was that she had to ask.

Cassandra didn't fail her as well, hugging her tightly as though it were her last time.

" I had waited for so long to come my child, for this day to finally come. How I missed you my darling daughter. I'm alive because of you, you kept me going, I had to hold on to the little hope, that one day I'll see you all again, and it finally came true my child. How I missed you,"

The two were still locked in embrace, yet the journalists hadn't stopped taking photographs with flickering lights everyone. They were still throwing so many questions at the two, hopeful to get the best story for the day.

" I'm sorry everyone, please let us through, my mother needs rest. This must have been so traumatizing for her. So if you please, give her some space. If you wish to find out more then I'm sure whenever she's ready she'll share what happened to her. Right now we have to go,"

The two walked hand in hand when a soldier stopped the two.

" It's better if you took her to a hospital for further check up,"

" Sure soldier, I'll take care of my mother. Thank you so much for having rescued her. God will bless you,"

" Alright madam, you can go ahead now,"

Zichi and Cassandra boarded the chopper. Away from everyone, the two wiped off the tears that had filled their faces at the same time. They glanced down at the soldiers clearing off the scene and smiled, they couldn't believe they had been capable of fooling the entire country.

" Your plan was perfect dear,"

" I told you mother, we had to make it real, and all these, no one could ever doubt,"

" But those reporters, how should we get rid of them?"

" We don't have to. We'll use this opportunity to get the required media attention for our company. I'm sure the police might try to look into dad's death, but it's been a year now. They won't get anything, not when they never suspected it to be murder in the first place,"

" Anyways where is your brother and sister, I expected for you to show up with Cai atlist. I don't care much about that sister of yours,"

" You won't believe it mother. Let's just get home and rest before I narrate everything to you. I can't wait for the dawn to finally break," Zichi said as she glanced out.

The sun was just about to rise, yet she hadn't closed her eye for a second the entire night. Cassandra too couldn't wait to finally sleep on her soft and warm bed, something she had missed for over a year now.

" Home sweet home," Cassandra commented as she stepped down from the chopper.

" Welcome back to the land of the living mother. But first, you have to know that I'm the boss here. So enjoy," Zichi said before she made large strides into the villa.

Cassandra had been taken aback and she stopped as she stared into Zichi's departing figure. But then she couldn't complain, not when it was her that had created a tiger like her.

But she being her creator would definitely know how to tame her, she gave birth to her after all. It was her that taught her everything. All these belonged to her, and when the time came, Zichi would understand that. She had risked it all to be here, owning all these.

Cassandra glanced around at the huge villa she had dreamt of almost every night. Finally her dreams had become a reality. It was worth the wait. With that she headed inside after Zichi, exhausted but thrilled. It has been such a memorable day.

Zichi dropped everything and headed into her bedroom for a long warm shower to calm her nerves after the hectic day of moving to and fro between the places. This better be worth it after all.

She knew that Cassandra won't let her take over everything, but everything was in her name now, she won't give her a chance, not while she obtained everything by her own sweat.
