No wedding

Zia Esstidy woke up and stretched herself on her cozy bed before kicking away the blanket. It was her wedding day. She picked up her mobile that she had left charging on the bedside table to look at the time. It was ten in the morning. She jumped out of the bed as she cursed loudly, why didn't anyone wake her up?

Zia immediately picked up her bathrobe and jolted out of the room headed downstairs. The house was unusually quiet yet such a huge function was in an hour's time. Zia wondered why her bridesmaids hadn't thought of waking her up, even her make up artist wasn't around yet.

She descended the spiral and beautiful staircase in haste till she arrived at the empty room. She was about to go down to grandmother's room when she noticed two figures sitting quietly at a corner close to the dining area.

" Grandmother, Asriel, what's going on, why aren't you guys ready? And why didn't anyone wake me up?" Zia asked as she rushed forward to her soon to be husband Asriel Gedor and her grandmother Drusilla.

" Calm down my child, let us explain everything to you," Drusilla said.

" I don't think we have time for any explanations, make haste and prepare, I'll rush back and get ready, I can't be late for my own wedding," Zia said and began walking back.

" There is no wedding," a cold and empty voice sounded behind her making Zia stop dead in her tracks.

Slowly Zia turned around to meet her soon to be husband, Asriel Gedor just a few feet away from her. He looked down at her with a flat face, showing no emotions.

" Asriel dear, you must be out of your mind, how could there be no wedding when everything was prepared perfectly the previous day. You know me darling, I always make sure everything is in order before I decide to sleep. You must be out of your mind to say something like that," Zia said, her eyes glancing back and forth between Drusilla and Asriel.

" My child, please calm down and let us tell you everything. We knew you wouldn't take it well and that is why we let you sleep as we try to solve the mess, but till now we haven't been able to do anything. The wedding can't proceed," Drusilla said and she moved to hold her but Zia brushed off her hand as she sat on the couch next to her.

Zia felt her world suddenly come to a stand still and it was getting difficult for her to breathe.

" The wedding venue was vandalized the previous night by unknown people, the remaining things were washed away by the sea. There was nothing I could do my love. I tried everything I could but I wasn't able to give you the perfect wedding you have always dreamt of. I had to call off the wedding, that is why no one is here. I'm so sorry love, please forgive me dear," Asriel explained as he knelt infont of her. He held her knees as Zia had supported her head with both her hands.

" Zia please, say something dear, I failed you this time, but we can organise one in the shortest time possible," Asriel continued as he glanced up at her, but she was slowly fading away.

Asriel felt her breathing become irregular and her eyes were slowly closing up, her hands never leaving her head.

" Zia can you hear me?" Asriel asked.

Zia felt everything was in a whirlwind and the voices slowly fading away as she tried much to stay focus, but she was losing consciousness fast. Her body gave way and Zia slumbered to the couch.

" What's happening dear?" Drusilla asked.

Asriel Gedor didn't answer his grandmother and carried Zia bridal style as he hurried out of the house into an awaiting car. The driver had hurriedly opened the car as Asriel placed her in and got in after her.

" Drive fast to the hospital," Asriel commanded.

Nicko nodded and immediately drove off.

Drusilla got into another car and followed them to the hospital. She prayed hard that nothing happens to her great grandchild and her mother.

The car came to an halt five minutes later infront of a tall but beautiful building, the most luxurious hospital in the entire country. Asriel got out and carried Zia inside and she was immediately placed on a bed and the doctors took her inside into an emergency room.

Asriel paced up and about not knowing what to do. He had just found out the previous night that Zia was pregnant, something that he had desired for a long time now. Asriel couldn't stop hating himself for what he did. What if Zia lost the very thing he had wanted because of him. No he couldn't allow it.

Asriel hit hard the wall and leaned on it as he waited for the doctor. At the same time Drusilla arrived.

" Grandmother, what if this was a bad idea? What if she lost the child?" Asriel asked.

" Calm down my child, Zia and the child will be alright, have faith. Nothing will go wrong," Drusilla said.

" But grandmother..."

" No my grandson, trust me in this, you will see that everything turns out just as planned," Drusilla said and sat on the couch in the waiting area.

Asriel Gedor hadn't stopped pacing about yet Drusilla sat there calmly as a queen she was. Drusilla was the richest woman that ever lived, controlling almost everything in the shadows, but with the help of her grandson whom she had taken as her own son. Even in the wildest storm, Drusilla always sailed through, and this was nothing for her.

Inside the room, the doctors quickly administered first aid to the patient who slowly gained consciousness. Zia glanced around and realized that she was at the hospital. A doctor stood right before her when he noticed that she was awake.

" Doctor, what's wrong with me?" Zia asked. She had never fainted before and this scared her.

" Nothing is wrong with you Mrs Gedor, we have good news for you. Congratulations, you are two months pregnant," the doctor said as he held her hand.

Zia stared at him with eyes void of any emotions. How could she be pregnant yet she was only eighteen years. But again it was possible as Asriel had insisted on finding out if she was untouched before getting married to her.

Zia was lost in thought and didn't hear whatever the doctor said till the door closed after him.

The next second Asriel and Drusilla went in.

" Thank you so much darling, for giving me this beautiful gift," Asriel said as he knelt by the bed and caressed her tummy.

Zia lay there unmoved, several things went through her mind. This would definitely change everything for her. She had just become the CEO of her dad's company after her parents died in an accident few months ago. She wasn't legally married before having the kid which placed her in an awkward situation. She hadn't planned any of this.

" I'm having an abortion," Zia said suddenly.

" That's insane dear, you can't possibly think of something like that. How can I lose my great grandchild like that when I just received the news," Drusilla said.

" Grandmother, please give us time to talk," Asriel said without glancing back at his grandmother, his eyes fixed on Zia. Asriel held her hand that hadn't been attached to the drip.

" Dear, why did you say that. Aren't you happy that we are going to have a little baby even though we hadn't planned it. I promise dear, I'll support you in every way possible," Asriel said meekly.

"Gedor, you know that we aren't a married couple and I can't have a baby outside wedlock. Besides I just gained my position at the company which I can't do with this," Zia said.

" We can register our marriage first before the wedding since the doctor advised that you need to rest for a while. And the company, I can help you run it, you know that I'm capable of doing that dear," Asriel said as he planted kisses all over her hand.

" I don't know Gedor, I feel that not everything will be as easy as you say," Zia said.

" I know dear, but you'll have your husband to support you and grandmother. You'll see that everything turns out perfectly."

Zia looked at Asriel with tearful eyes, he had never failed to show her how much he cared and loved her. This would be the beginning of a new life for her.

" Let me make a few calls so that we can register our marriage at the attorney's office today," Asriel said and kissed her forehead before he walked to the door.

Zia glanced to the ceiling. She held her flat tummy and couldn't believe that she had a life growing inside of her. Her heart swelled with love for the first time, she couldn't possibly get rid of the first seed in her life. Zia was sure she will love him or her, she just had to take it slow.
