Yvonne’s POV

While the idea of using a jewelry box for fingerprint verification came up from Gentle, one of the Belfort brothers, deep down I wasn’t really scared of anything. I wasn’t the one faking. If there was someone pretending, it was Tricia—though, to be fair, she was so good at pretending she could probably make a priest doubt himself.

I straightened my back, having my fingers curling at my sides as if that tiny act alone would support me.

Although I was willing to go first when they brought the jewelry box, but before I could make the first step, Adrian slightly shifted to make way for Tricia. His hand on her elbow was subtle, like a silent signal between them.

“Well, Tricia should go first. Besides, she’s the real Belfort heiress,” he said.

I blinked at him, stunned at how easily the words rolled off his tongue. To think Adrian actually believed Tricia’s act even after everything he had seen, made him look like an uncultured idiot. Even when he knew I’d owned the bracelet f

Yvonne’s POVThe drive was quiet as she drove. I didn’t ask where we were going, I just sat there in the passenger seat, staring out the window, trying not to think about anything.Having my hands locked together on my lap, still unsure of why I even got into her car in the first place. Maybe it was exhaustion. Maybe it was curiosity. Or maybe it was that faint whisper in my head that told me I had nothing left to lose.We drove past the city lights until the noise faded into the distance. The streets turned narrow, lined with trees that looked older than time itself. Finally, she parked in front of a building that didn’t look like much from the outside as it had gray walls, glass doors, and a faint golden light shining through the cracks of the curtains. When she stepped out, I followed quietly, tucking my hair behind my ear.Inside, the place was breathtaking. I realized it wasn’t just a building…it was an art gallery. Paintings hung neatly on every wall, colors blending into each o

  • Lost Heiress of the Belfort Brothers   Chapter 42 — Glimpse of Hope

Yvonne’s POV“So this is it?” I muttered to myself in distress. The night had swallowed everything behind me, and the farther I walked, the smaller the laughter and music from the hall became. Each step felt heavier than the last, like my legs were dragging through mud. I didn’t even know where I was going as I just wanted to get as far away from that place as I could. The cold wind bit against my face as I crossed the quiet street, wrapping my arms around myself. My once-white gown was stiff from the dried red paint, sticking to my skin and reminding me of the humiliation over and over again. After walking for what felt like forever, I finally stopped when I reached a narrow bridge on the outskirts of the town. It was one of those forgotten places no one used anymore. The streetlamps along the road had long stopped working, and the only light came from the pale reflection of the moon on the water below. The night was silent except for the faint ripple of the river. I walked slowly to

Yvonne’s POV“Jack, let’s dance, my brother. After that, I can dance with my boyfriend, Adrian.” Tricia said, offering her hand like everything like that they all just did in humiliating me did matter and it was just an everyday normal thing. He took it with that lazy grin he always used and we walked into the spotlight together. “Okay, sister,” he replied, and for a moment their laughter echoed everywhere. They turned away from me as if the rest of the night was ordinary, as if the way they treated me two minutes ago had been nothing. As if everything that happened could be wiped clean with a step and a smile.I felt something break inside. Maybe a crack had always been there and tonight it just grew too wide. I’d spent so long trying to fit into their family picture, hoping to be seen as more than a charity case or a rumor. But watching them pair up in this manner just to make me feel less made me feel more like a stranger than ever.I picked my little dignity that was left on the f

Yvonne’s POV“I guess the evidence just disappeared or maybe because it never existed in the first place, so I’d advise that you stop trying to prove nothing,” Sophia sneered, her arms folded like she’d just won a prize. Of course, I think she did.Liam huffed, his jaw tightening. I could tell he was holding himself back from saying something he’d regret. His eyes darted to me for a split second, guilt written all over them, and then dropped to the floor. He looked helpless, and that broke something in me.“This is embarrassing,” Bobby muttered loud enough for everyone around to hear. “You obviously wanted to get noticed, but deep down, you two came here with no proof.”His words hit harder than I expected. The whispers that followed sliced through me like tiny blades. Like no proof, no evidence, nothing at all.“I’ve dealt with a lot of frauds over the years,” Jack added, shaking his head in disgust. “But you… you’re the most shameless by far.”That was it. I couldn’t hold it in anym

Gentle’s POVMy personal guard, who had been standing quietly behind me the whole time while at the event, tapped my shoulder gently.“What’s that look on your face, sir? Do you have anything to say about what’s happening?” he asked, leaning closer like he could already sense I was holding something back.I turned slightly, my eyes still fixed on the stage where the chaos was slowly building. “What are you talking about?”He hesitated a bit, then bent over and whispered low enough that no one else could hear.“Yeah, somehow… I believe that Yvonne is your sister.”I blinked, unsure if I heard him right. “Those are mere vague words,” I said sharply. “I told you before, I need proof for that. I don’t work with assumptions.”Still, his words sat somewhere in the back of my head like a whisper I couldn’t shut off.Yvonne’s POVAs soon as I finally got up to the stage, following Liam’s approving face, the hall fell into this strange kind of silence that didn’t feel comforting at all. • Lost Heiress of the Belfort Brothers   Chapter 38- This year’s homecoming queen…

Tricia’s POVBobby’s words landed like a tiny stone in a quiet pool. “You know, now that I see her in a good dress, she really does look like our mum.” He said it almost to himself, but I squeezed my ears to hear that and then he drifted over and stood beside Jack.Jack rolled his eyes and waved a hand. “Come on, bro. I only think that you are simply imagining things in your head.”They moved back to their seats as if nothing had happened, laughing together, but my head was spinning. I could feel their eyes flick to Yvonne and then away again, and that little shift which felt subtle made my palms go cold.“Are they serious?” I muttered, the plastic cup in my hand slipping a little from the way I squeezed it. The drink sloshed and soaked my fingers and I didn’t even notice until the cold spread through my palm.I couldn’t let that happen, Never! Not after all I have sacrificed including giving out my body to that jerk of a doctor. For me, this family was mine. I’d built this, and I cou
