I nodded silently, turning to find the resource officer to get my wolf tooth charm back.

"Where are you going now?"

"My charm... it's still with the resource officer."

I hadn't gone far when Lyra called out to me.

"There's a blizzard warning tonight, and you haven't fully recovered. Don't wander outside. Let Karen's guards retrieve it for you."

My instinct was to refuse, but Karen's warning glance fell on me.

I knew that if I rejected Lyra's "kindness," Karen's anger would come down on me again.

But after the guards were gone for a long time, they returned with only an empty skin pouch.

The resource officer said the charm had disappeared.

"How could it disappear? How is that possible? It's been less than half a day, why would it be gone? I clearly said I would find resources to trade for getting my things back!"

"Well... there are so many wolves in the tribe. Who knows if some cub carried it off, or if the wind blew it away? Look, I'll just write off what you owed before."

I grabbed the resource officer's sleeve, my voice shaking with desperation as I kept questioning him.

"Enough! How long are you going to embarrass yourself like this? It's just a worn-out charm! You didn't take proper care of it! Now it's lost—who can you blame?"

Karen yanked me away, apologized to the resource officer, then forcibly dragged me away.

"I'll have someone search the tribe, but you stay put in that ice cellar. Don't come out and cause more trouble! As my former mate, you're bringing nothing but shame to me!"

His cold words were like a bucket of ice water, extinguishing my last spark of hope.

Karen's guards forced me back into the ice cellar.

I was still sick and hadn't recovered, should have been resting well, but now my wolf spirit was restless after losing the charm.

It was just a small wolf tooth charm—why did I feel such fear and emptiness over it?

Perhaps because in my barren life, it was the only proof that I had once been loved, once belonged somewhere. But in the end, I couldn't keep even that.

That night, I had a long, sad dream.

I dreamed of my long-dead sister, gently licking my forehead with a warm wolf kiss, her eyes full of infinite sadness and pity.

"My poor little sister, why is your fur so dull and lifeless? Your mate, that Alpha who swore to protect you, hasn't treated you well, has he?"

Fighting back tears, I buried my head in my sister's ghostly embrace, letting out muffled whimpers.

"Who made you suffer like this? Tell your sister, and I'll get justice for you. Is it that Alpha called Karen?"

"No... no, sister. Karen, he's... he's good." My tears could no longer be held back: "Sister, I miss you so much. I can't hold on anymore. I lost Mother's last blessing feather... I'm just useless trash."

I curled up in the ice cellar, hopeless and depressed, not wanting to see anyone or hear any sounds.

Karen never came to check on me once, but Lyra showed up uninvited.

When I saw her, I wanted to block the narrow entrance with ice, but Lyra just smirked contemptuously. She raised her hand, revealing the wolf tooth and feather charm tied around her wrist—the one I had lost.

"How... how did it end up with you?"

Taking advantage of my shocked moment, she gracefully stepped into my ice cellar.

I woke from a haze to find myself in a warm, bright space, surrounded by comforting moonlight."Child, you're awake." A gentle, ancient voice sounded in my ear.It was the Moon Goddess."Am I... still alive?""Your wolf body has been frozen, but your soul, pure and resilient, was guided here by me."I looked down and saw my ghostly soul form."Karen... how is he?" Even now, he was still my first thought. The Moon Goddess sighed softly: "He is atoning in his own way. I see everything he has done for you. But child, the wounds you suffered were too deep. No matter how much he gives, it may never be enough.""I... I don't know. I just feel so tired."That word—forgiveness—I couldn't say it. Those bone-deep pains, those days and nights struggling in despair, couldn't be easily erased with a simple "I'm sorry."Karen became silent and withdrawn. He handed over all tribal matters to the council of elders while he kept vigil at the ice crevice like a penitent monk, day and night. He collected

The once high and mighty Alpha, whose words were law, now looked like a lost wolf cub, helpless and desperate. He stared at the bottomless ice crevice, his eyes full of endless regret and pain."You lying snake! You poisonous, venomous woman! You destroyed my Elara! You made her suffer false accusations! You drove her to destruction in despair!"He roared at the empty snow plain as if Lyra's spirit was still watching from some corner."I won't let your filthy soul tarnish Elara's name again! She was so pure, so beautiful. She shouldn't have endured any of this! You should be the one who died! And me! And all of us... blind fools!"Lyra's physical body was treated according to the tribe's harshest punishment—thrown into the ice cold spring, never to rest in peace.Karen, like a walking corpse, guarded the ice crevice day and night, letting the wind and snow attack him, not eating or drinking, as if wanting to freeze himself on this desperate frozen plain. The tribal elders were deeply w

Karen stroked the stone walls of the ice cellar again and again, trying to find my last trace of scent. When he discovered the almost unrecognizable markings I had scratched on the wall in the most hidden corner of the ice cellar, his already numb heart was finally completely torn apart."Karen, it's so cold here. I miss the sunlight. Karen, my Alpha... do you remember when you used to call me your little snowball?""Karen, the nights at the Cliff of Sinful Wolves are so long. Those wolves, their eyes are so scary. Karen, I'm so afraid. Will you, will you ever come and take me home?""Karen, I didn't steal the Moon Soul Flower. I swear. Why, why won't you believe me just once?""Karen, Lyra says you'll never forgive me, she says I'm the tribe's shame, says my being alive is wasting the tribe's resources...""Karen, my wolf tooth charm is gone. That was the only thing you ever gave me, and it had my mother's blessing inside. Karen, am I truly left with nothing?""Karen, if I could sacri

Karen didn't immediately leave the ice crevice. He just knelt there where I had fallen, motionless, letting the snow and ice cover him.As if my departure had also taken away all his vitality and energy. After a long time, he finally rose like a soulless statue.Karen didn't return to his warm den but went straight to the abandoned ice cellar where I had been kept.I had left very little in the ice cellar—a few worn animal hides, some dim ice crystals, and a wind chime made of small animal bones that I had secretly hidden in a crack in the stone. When I first came to the Silver Moon tribe as a wolf cub, Karen had made it for me using the bones of his first hunted snow rabbit, trying to make me happy. He said when the wind blew, the chime would make the whispers of the Moon Goddess, blessing me to grow up safely. He said this was his first promise to me as the future Alpha. He said he would protect me forever, just like he protected the tribe's totem."My destined mate, we will be toget

Surprisingly, I didn't feel any pain. The fall was strangely peaceful—no expected impact or tearing, but rather an unprecedented sense of release.Because from now on, I would never feel any pain again. In the final moment before my consciousness completely faded, I seemed to return to that snowy night when I first met Karen.I was a lost wolf cub, shivering in the blizzard. It was he who descended like a deity, wrapped me in his warm fur, and brought me back to the Silver Moon tribe.Back then, he was a young, spirited wolf prince with clear, determined eyes.He clumsily licked my wounds, again and again calling me by the temporary name he'd given me in his deep, gentle voice: "Little Snowball, don't be afraid, I'm here."When I finally woke up in his arms after battling a high fever, I saw those blue eyes that were always proud filled with moisture for the first time—the most sincere tears of the wolf tribe."Little Snowball, thank goodness you're finally awake. The Moon Goddess has

"Give me back my charm!""Give it back to you? Why should I? Your Alpha has already given it to me. He said this charm symbolizes loyalty, and a person who has defiled the tribe doesn't deserve to have it. Its best destiny is for me to purify it."Lyra nimbly avoided my outstretched claws, her eyes full of victorious smugness and mockery."That's my mother's blessing! Karen made it for me with his own hands! Give it back!"Everything else I could give up, could stop caring about, but not this!I lunged at her like a mad woman, but she always managed to dodge gracefully. After I missed again and crashed pathetically into the cold stone wall, she let out a beautiful but cruel laugh."Elara, once the brightest star of the Silver Moon tribe, how ironic. Now you're just a stray dog with its claws and fangs pulled out. What right do you have to return to the tribe?"As I struggled to get up, she elegantly stretched out her foot and pressed her jewel-encrusted boot tip onto my injured paw, gr
