Chapter 6

"Hahahaha" I laughed within at the curiosity in their eyes, I heard some girls at the corner yelling.. "Say yes girl."

Great! I said yes and that was quite a beautiful scenario, I doubt if I slept that night.

"Maybe I should excort you home" he said turning me around as he placed his hand across my shoulder.

My eye widened in fear, I didn't want him to come anywhere close to my house for the mean time else he might find out that I was hiding something, Louis is too smart.

"No Louis, you don't need to worry, I'm not a kid and I can always go home on my own" I said putting up that baby face.

He chuckled on seeing the look on my face tickling my cheeks.

I smiled, yes I did, I couldn't believe I could truly actually do that especially with what's going on in my life at this moment.

It was really so impossible to resist smiling when I'm around Louis.

"Stop! Stop!" I cried out bursting into a loud laugh and he joined me.

He stopped as he stared at me for a while, he ran his hands through my hair putting the hairs behind my ears as he smiled at me.

I lowered my gaze, I get so shy whenever he looked at me that way.

"You're so beautiful Selena" he said.

I looked up at his face and chortled "thank you Louis."

It was a huge relief to hear someone tell you such sweet words especially when you're having a horrible day and they are unaware of it, at least I wasn't feeling pitied

I walked the rest of the way home alone and locked myself indoors.

I washed the dirty laundries and cleaned the house just like I had planned to, I was glad that all my plans were going perfectly for the night.

"Yvonne..." Mr.Chancy called out.

I was standing in a garden looking distressed and totally confused.

I turned around on hearing my name, I smiled on seeing him.

I grabbed the ends of my long blue gown and ran to him, I almost fell to my feet.

He held me up.

"Please help me, my sister is dying, she is all I have got" I cried out.

"Nothing would happen to your sister Selena, have some faith in me and in us."

I gasped "us? What do you mean by us?"

He smiled "don't you get it Selena? You're going to be my bride."

I shook my head in confusion "no, that can't be."

"It can Selena, you can't resist me forever, I will be your husband" he placed his hand on my face.

"No....no... I can't marry you Mr.Chancy you're old enough to be my father" I cried out shivering.

"Don't say such nonsense Selena, age is only but a number, marry me and I will make all your tears go away" he said drawing me closer him self lowering his lips over mine.

"No...no...no..." I muttered in tears.

I woke up gasping for breath, I sat up on my bed and realized it was only a dream.

I took a deep breath wiping the sweat on my forehead grabbing my phone to check the time.

I sighed, it was only 3:00am.

I lay back on my bed refusing to think about the dream as my thoughts were filled with my sister "please get well Anabelle, I would do all I can to save you."

I slept off only to wake up at the sound of my alarm.

I hurried out of bed to get ready for work and of course it was friday.

An hour later I was at work, doing my duty like always.

I found my hands moving down my pocket, I took out Mr. Chancy's card and smiled "I would go see him at work during my break period."

I continued working, I noticed how Maryann couldn't stop taking glances at me, she smiled at me like some sort of an encouragement.

I shrugged it off and continued serving the customers, I couldn't get my eyes off the wall clock located at the left side of the square shaped restaurant.

It was my break period soon, I walked over to Mr.Charles's office and knocked on his door.

The door opened, Maryann walked out.

I was surprised to see her coming out of Mr. Charles's office, she barely went there.

I pulled her softly my the shirt "what are you doing here?" I whispered.

"Nothing, just came to lay a complaint from a customer" she whispered back walking away.

I turned around staring at her "why would a customer ask her to make a complaint instead of doing it himself? "These customers can be something else" I thought.

"Yes Selena..." I heard Mr. Charles call me from his office.

I walked into his office putting on that smile which I found annoying, I doubted if he deserved to see me smile in his presence.

"Good afternoon Mr.Charles" I greeted just like a humble employee I was.

"What do you want?" He asked searching through some books of his desk.

His tone didn't sound good to me, he was rude and acted more like we were having a quarrel.

I shook it off my head, I just wanted to do what I came for "I wish to head out for a few minutes to get some money for my sister's surgery."

He looked up at me and continued with what he was doing "so what do you want me to do about that?"

"I just came to inform you, to take permission sir" I said.

He cleared his throat "sorry Selena, permission not granted."

I gaped "but sir it's really important I go, my sister doesn't have much time at the hospital."

He stood up to his feet hitting his hand on the table "I said permission not granted now get the hell out of my office."

I remained calm for a while as my brain gradually processed what he has said "but why sir?"

"You were employed in this restaurant to work and not to go about meeting your boyfriends when you're supposed to be working" he yelled standing to his feet.

"What??? I'm not going to meet my boyfriend, I just told you my sister is ill and needs surgery" my hands were shaking now.

"Selena, get out of my office!" He ordered.

"Mr.Charles please I really need to go" I pleaded almost on my knee.

"The last time I checked Selena, I know you aren't deaf, now get out! Since you don't want to rest during your break period, their are customers out there waiting to be served" he said sitting back on his seat.

Tears were almost leaving my eyes, I couldn't believe Mr.Charles was that cold hearted.

I quietly left his office sobbing.

I went behind the restaurant and curled up at a corner crying my heart out and lamenting to myself.

"You're still here Selena" Maryann said from behind.

I looked up at her, my eyes were red and my face and grown puce.

"Oh! My God! What happened Selena?" She asked in panic.

"He didn't let me out Maryann, he didn't permit me to leave" I cried out.

"Didn't you explain your reasons to him Selena? This is your chance to meet Mr.Chancy and help your sister" Maryann said sitting beside me.

"You think I didn't do that? I did everything Maryann but yet he wouldn't let me."

"I'm so sorry Selena, I wish their was something I could do to help" Maryann said touching my hair.

I wiped my tears gently "it's okay Maryann, it's not your problem, I will see Mr.Chancy maybe tomorrow."

Maryann leaned closer to me "if I were you, I would disobey him and head out, your sister's life is more important than this stupid job."

I thought about what she just said staring into her eyes, I looked away, she was making a point but then loosing my job would never help me or my sister.

"I rather not do that Maryann" I said standing to my feet walking back into the restaurant.

Seven hours later....

It was getting dark and I was done for the day's work.

I left the restaurant heading home on foot, I had nothing left on me to pay for a ride back home.

Lost in my thoughts as I wrapped my arms around each other, I was freezing a bit.

A car drove pass me and pulled up in front of me.

"Selena..." A voice called out from the car.

I walked closer with my face looking thin and pale.

"Mr.Chancy" I said taking a deep breath.

I felt this great relief within on seeing him, for once in a long time, I was glad that I saw him.

"I did not see you today, you were supposed to come to my office" he said staring at me.

"I....." I tried to say something before he cutted in.

"You know what? Just get in to the car, we are going somewhere" he said smiling.

I gaped "where?"

"Today is friday, remember? I told you that you will go somewhere with me" he said.

I sighed, I had completely forgotten "sorry, I forgot about it."

"It's fine, just get in" he said looking calm.

I nodded as I watched his body guard alight from the car and opened the door for me.

"Thank you Selena" he said smiling at me.

I took a glance at him "you're welcome sir."

We zoomed off.
