Ronnakrit's Pov

" No no no no." I crumbled to my knees beside the bed, tears blinding me.

On the other side of the door, Pawat's voice was cold and flat." Now you see. If you were around last night all this wouldn't have taken place."

" Pawat, I am so sorry, I didn't mean it. I... I..." Words stuck in my throat. I could not reveal the truth that I went to assassinate a mafia.

With all the strength I have left, I picked Grandma up in my arms, running out of the room.

As soon as I got out of the house, I carefully placed her on my bike, using a cloak to strap her to myself.

Almost immediately, I sped out of the compound...

In the doctor's office...

After the test was done on her, the doctor had asked both I and Pawat to come to her office.

She kept staring at her chart, before raising her head to look at me. She heaved a heavy sigh.

" I am happy to announce to you that your Grandma is physically stable, we've treated the minor contusion on her temple and her vitals are strong. There are no signs of stroke or neurological event like seizure." She said.

" Okay, is there anything to worry about?" I asked. While Pawat folded his arms across his chest.

" Unfortunately, yes." She nodded. " Her current state, is what we call a severe dissociative or catatonia stress response. Her mind has shut down as a protective mechanism against an experience it found too traumatic to process." She stated. Her eyes bored into mine as if staring at my weak soul.

" So..." I said expecting her to say more.

I stared at her as she mentioned some other few things that were wrong with Grandma.

" Any other things?" I asked.

"Yes," she said, handing me a white paper that felt like a lead weight. "We need to run a full battery of tests. An MRI and a CT scan to rule out physical brain damage." She ticked them off on her fingers, each one a nail in my coffin. "Plus, continuous EEG monitoring to track her brain activity. For that, we need to admit her to the psychiatric ward for 72-hour acute observation."

I barely heard the last part. My eyes were locked on the bottom of the form. The total cost: ฿300,000.

"Fill this out at reception," her voice sounded distant. "And later, you'll need to speak with the police."

" Okay." Swallowing the lumps at the back of my throat.

What will I actually say to the officers if they came up with their questions?

I stood up, and Pawat did the same. We moved slowly towards the reception....

After all the forms were filled and payment was made, we both left the hospital.

" Pawat?" I called. " Why are you still looking at me like that?" I asked.

" Nothing really... How did you get the money you paid at the reception?" He asked.

" Ohh, that, I have been taking odd jobs, meanwhile I am based in the animal selling." I explained.

" Ohh." His eyes narrowed, and I felt pinned in place, my lies shrinking under his silent scrutiny. " I don't think, schooling is a good idea anymore." He said.

" Not for me. Just go get some rest already. Everything will be set before evening." I said standing up from the sofa proceeding outside the house.

I retrieved my phone from my pocket, dailing the boss's number. In order to get my payment.

" Hello?" I heard from the other end.

" I wanted to announce my success on the mission." I said.

" I am well aware of that. It's a shame your father didn't pass the first round." His voice barely above a whisper.

" What does that mean?" I asked.

" The price has been sent to your account." He said ending the call a second later.

Almost immediately, my phone beeped and a notification bar appeared right on top.

I have successfully received ฿3million. Which was just enough to pay half of the debt.

" I am sorry." I whispered to myself, tears slowly trickled down my cheek.

I returned back into the house with heavy steps. " Pawat. Go get your self something to eat. I can't really cook today." I said.

" I don't think I wanna eat." He said.

I didn't argue further. It was useless anyways.

Minutes later, my phone began buzzing in my pocket. I quickly retrieved it to check who was calling.

The hospital.

" Hello" I said

" The police department are here. And your attention is needed. We would really appreciate your presence." She ended the call immediately.

I didn't think twice, I asked Pawat some basic questions about what had happened last night which he did. Now it's my turn to talk them into the main situation without telling what I actually went out to do last night....

As soon as I got to the hospital, I was met with the cops. One of them holding a paper and a pen while the other one just sat down and staring at me.

" You may have your sit." The man among both said.

" Okay." I let out a quick sigh.

" Based on what happened to your Grandma, we will need more information, and that's why we called you here." He said.

" Okay." I answered

" Firstly, I am detector Kan." He introduced.

" Ronnakrit."

" Okay Ronnakrit, where were you when the whole incident happened?" Detector Kan asked.

" At a friend's." I replied.

" Your brother?" He asked.

The lady beside him just grab her pen, and she began noting.

" He was at home that night." I spread out my hands slightly.

" Any other witnesses except from him?" He asked

And before I could speak, a knock at the door drew our attention. I quickly stood up to open it.

To my utmost shock, Det was standing right there infront of me.

My heart sank immediately. ' What is he doing here?' I turned to look back at the officers.

He said, his voice cold. I was stunned at that moment, isn't he the same person who was just stuttering? How come he regained composure so quickly? His eyes glued on me, I was too stunned to speak. " Damn you, Det." I said turning sharply heading out of his office. There was only one reason that would make me want to wait. And that is, Pawat and Grandma. I could not help thinking Grandma was not alright. Despite the fact that, Pawat was a proof of his care. I just can't bring myself to believe it. What if everything was a lie? I moved quickly though the hallway, as soon as I got into the apartment, Pete was still waiting. I paused for a while staring at him expecting him to say something. " What happened?" He asked.I didn't answer him, I just walked into the room packing my bags, and as

Det Pov" No," I shook my head slowly. " I am not going, so is he." I added. There was no way, I'd let Krit go to a night party. What if he can't take alcohol? Porsche would surely force him. I hate it when Porsche announce this kinda thing. I really love him being 17, so I would be able to control him. But now that he's twenty, he acts like the whole world revolves around him alone. " No, I disagree." Porsche countered. " I've asked father, and he said, you could come with me." I smiled, this Porsche was really a step ahead already. That's wonderful, he is funny and smart. " Okay, I am going with you." Krit said, moving a step closer to him. I know I could not stop him anyways, and I was just bluffing at the moment. I had told him he had a day off last night it is, and that's the main reason he is taking advantage of me." Okay," I let out a heavy sigh. Ronnakrit's PovMy eyes glued on the screen, I was left speechless. What should I do? I am not in good health, not am I stable to fight. And to top it all, the news has showed my current location. " What should I do?" I asked myself. I quickly typed a message, telling Dagger that I don't understand the meaning of what he had sent. Almost immediately, a notification bar popped up. It reads; You are already on the death list." I never said I quit." I typed, the words blurring as a cold sweat broke on my neck." It's a shame you are going to die as your father did." The notification bar popped up. " What do you mean?" I typed " The moment he told he was not in anymore, he died." The notification bar popped up, and plus, was a knife emoji." • Love At Stake   Chapter 34 | Truth

Ronnakrit's Pov: My face turned red, and despite the pain, I still find it easy. I clenched my hand into a fist. Anger simmering through my veins. How could he? If he had not stolen those earbuds of mine, maybe, I wouldn't have lost my hearing in the first place. Maybe non of those recurring incidents would have happened. " Answer me, Det." My voice, stern. He continued staring at me, and I could have swear that I felt like slapping this guy, if not that I am lying down, and my healthy matters more to me though. " Okay, Ronnakrit stop yelling." He said, his voice, low, sharp, but not strong as always. It was kinda shaking. And I am astonished at how he pronounced my full name. " Then tell me how and why you stole my earbuds without me realizing it?" I asked. Before he could open his mouth to speak, a doctor came in. " Mr Det, I am sorry, but, it's better for you to come stay outside. The patient is getting agitated." His voice calm.As soon as Det took a step, I was not ready to

Det's Pov" Take them all!" His sharp voice resounded through the space. The policeman stood in his wonderful grace, while he commanded the troops to arrest them." Mr Det, are you alright?" He moved close to me. As a matter of fact, I was very popular, and well known in Bangkok. And no police would not recognize me. " Yeah, I am. Hope the people are safe?" I asked, I didn't want to give them the impression that the stupid men had all come for me. " Yes, thanks for interfering. If you weren't here today, maybe this would have been a catastrophe." I take that as a compliment. As a matter of fact, I didn't really mean saving them. I became a hero without meaning to. " Cuff him as well." He ordered his men to take Krit." Ohh no no, he is not one of them, but my bodyguard." I said hurriedly. I wouldn't blame them actually. Det didn't dress like one of my bodyguards. He dressed as if he was on a mission. Exactly like the time we first met. The only difference was that he wasn't wea
