I checked the rest of the rooms that were by the hallway, but there was no sign of my wife. One of the guys started talking through the CSE (convert surveillance earpiece), “boss, there's a movement by the east of the house, you might want to see this.”

I rushed towards the beach, in the middle of the beach, Lucas held a gun to Emily's head. “If anyone approaches, I'll put a bullet in her head.”

I boiled inside, I ignored the threat and walked forward. “Stop there Marco, I will kill her.”

“We both know you can't pull the trigger, you're too deep in this unrequited love shit to do it.”

“Put the gun down and I might spare your life for the sake of Emily.” I continued moving towards him, while he kept moving back, the only thing behind him was the vast ocean and there was no boat from him to escape in.

“Bullisht, if i should let her go, you'll kill me without thinking twice.”

“So you'll rather trade the life of someone you love for yours? What sort of love is that?” I let out a laug

  • Love in lies   Judi's rage

“JUDI!!” I choked, clawing her hands. I didn't want to fight her, but if I didn't, I might lose my life.Judi slammed me against the wall before I could even try to fight her off. The air burst out of my lungs. I barely had enough time to breathe in again when her hand was tightening around my throat, causing me to see only white. “You knew,” she hissed, her face inches from mine. With those once curious and bright eyes wild with hate. “You knew, didn’t you?”My fingers wrapped around her wrist, trying to pry her off. “Judi, why are you doing this? I thought we're friends?”“Don’t!” Her voice cracked, but not from weakness, from something deeper. “Don’t you dare pretend! My mother died because of your father—and you kept it from us!”My chest tightened, panic clawing through me. “That’s not true!” I tried to speak, but my voice came out rough. I won't last if she held on to me like this. I was already weak and I didn't think I should fight her, because if I did, it'll only prove her

  • Love in lies   You knew all along?

“Are you okay?” I asked Hivan the next morning. “Are you sure it's okay for you to be up?” “I'm fine Emily, I can't stay in a place for too long anyway.” “Are you sure you can trust your husband?” Hivan asked. “Like he won't endanger you for him benefit like Lucas?” “He's not like that,” a part of me was asking if I really believed that, I remember there was a time I could swear that Lucas would never do something like that to me, his supposed best friend. “You look different around him I just admit,” he took an apple from the basket in front of me. “He has that effect, I guess.” “Hiiii” Judi beamed at the door. “Looks like our patient is awake.” “Yeah,” I replied, unable to take the cold silence from Hivan. “Is it okay for him to be up already?” She started checking his body for signs of.. what I didn't know exactly. “Uh, uh,” Hivan cleared his throat, “I ah, need to take a shower.” He pryed himself from Judi, his ears turned red as he walked away. It seems like the tough

  • Love in lies   Suspicious Movement

I rushed forward towards him, “Aleo, are you okay?” “So it takes me dying before you call me by my name.” He smiled as he regained balance. “Mr Harper is your name too.” “Don't give me that, boy. You know what I'm talking about.” There was this tug in my chest when he said ‘boy’ I remembered the way he used to call Cal and I boys when we were much younger. That's not me anymore, I'm not the dependent little Marco. “I'm not a boy, Aleo and besides, Mr Harper is your name too.” “You were saying?” He narrowed his eyes, but didn't give me the sorrowful look that made me irritated, truly, Aleo was back. “I don't think it's a case of enemies here.” “Why?” “The timing is suspicious.” Jonathan said from the door. “Take a look at it this way, Emily gets kidnapped, rescued, find new friends and things are seemingly quiet. All of a sudden, the killer of Judi’s mom appears and it's her father.” I thought on it for a few seconds and it made sense. “Someone wants my attention diverted.”

  • Love in lies   Framed?

MARCO’S POV Vanessa, Emily's step mother sat in the living room, I had totally forgotten about her. I remember knocking her down in that house, but I Can't remember giving any of my men the order to bring her back here. “You?” She looked at me, her eyes just stared at me blankly. “Marco?” I heard Mr Harper's voice. “What's she doing here?” “What do you mean by that? She's here because she's my wife.” “Hmmm, wife?” “What brings you here by this time of the day?” he asked. “We need to talk,” “Can't you say it here?” “Sure, but I'm not sure it's something you'd want your beloved wife to hear.” He looked at me his brows raised, as if questioning. I went towards his study, I didn't even want to be in the same room with that woman else I'd kill her. “To what do I owe this meeting? Or have you finally decided to forgive me.” His eyes fixed on mine, they were sullen and bright with unshed tears. The sadness in them very evident. I looked away. “Be gentle with Vanessa, I don't kno

MARCO’S POV Hivan held me by the neck, maybe he felt he was the one with the power, “if you lay a finger on Emily, I'll make sure I kill you. I don't care if you're Marco Virell Martini.” “My house, my rules, my property, my opinion.” I looked him in the eyes, “If I choose to kill my own wife, you have no say in that.” The last part came out cold and teasing. His jaw clenched, the hand that gripped my neck tightened. Knowing that I could end this right now, and still chose to keep it going, making him feel like he's in charge was a little amusing… but the hand gripping my neck wasn't. His eyes darkened with a resolve, in the next minute, he flung me across the wall, still wanting to make him feel powerful, I threw myself to the wall which accentuated my hit. The pain that shot through my ribs made me almost regret my decision, I was used to pain… but not this kind of voluntary pain. If I was going to keep him in my house, I needed certainty that he was on our side, or at least..

  • Love in lies   Someone to meet

EMILY’S POV Marco had not noticed my skepticism, he was walking a step ahead of me. “What are we doing here?” I asked him. “Come, I want to show you something.” He held his hands out to me. “Don't be scared, she's not here.” He squeezed my hands that were trembling slightly and led me through the dark path. I kept thinking of Isabella as we walked, what if her spirit was still hovering around? I brushed the thought away and tried to see our surroundings through the very dim light that came from a lantern on the wall. I could barely make out anything, aside from Marco's back. There was a light coming from a distance as we rounded a corner. How was this house built? I knew there was a dungeon here, but I had no idea it was this big and deep. We stepped into the light, I closed my eyes to stop the stars I was seeing and adjust to the switch in lighting. To my right, Jonathan stood there with a pliers, two other guards stood at each side of a bloodied man. My stomach churned at the s
