The revelation of Bethany’s pregnancy to John took a much better turn than I expected. She seemed so nervous that I thought he would be totally against this pregnancy, but judging by his reaction earlier, it was much more accepted than expected. The giant smile on his face when he left the room earlier was a sure proof of his happiness with a new baby on the way.

After the shift, I feel that my body is completely sore. The emergency rooms are the ones that demand the most from us doctors, and today was one of those days that punishes us until the last minute. I collect all my things and walk towards the exit from the hospital, promptly Tyron accompanies me in stride.

“Are you ready to leave, Mrs. Burke?” he says, promptly standing next to me and taking my things.

“Oh, thank you! Come on!”I say, handing things over to him and stretching as much as I can, feeling my spine breaking when I do. “I need a bath and a good night’s sleep.”
