A few days later…

The plaza outside the grand marble building was packed with people.

Rows of reporters, photographers, and camera crews pressed against the metal barricades, the buzz of conversation mixing with the rapid 'click-click-click' of camera shutters.

David stood on the small raised platform, dressed sharply in a charcoal suit that fit his tall frame perfectly.

Two of his bodyguards stood slightly behind him, their eyes scanning the crowd, while others formed a protective ring around the perimeter.

He looked over the sea of faces—some curious, some skeptical, some outright hostile—then stepped toward the podium. The murmur of voices began to fade. David cleared his throat.

“Good morning,” he began. “I believe most of you have seen the video posted by Mrs. Isabel Smith, the mother of Allison Smith. The video accused me and my family of things that are nothing but lies.”

The words hit the crowd like a spark. Murmurs broke out immediately, flashes from cameras popping faster. D

The hall had fallen into a hush. The murmurs, the clicking of cameras, the shifting of chairs—everything stilled as every head turned toward the doorway.Isabel stood there, her hands clenched tightly by her sides, eyes glistening with tears. Her sharp and fierce gaze was fixed on David at the podium.David didn’t speak right away. He studied her in silence, his jaw set, his face giving nothing away.It was Isabel who broke it.“Tell me; how do you explain,” she repeated, “that a mother left her only child—her sick child she loved with all her heart, a boy who had suffered from a congenital heart condition—and fled the country? Is that even possible?”The moment Isabel had found out about David’s press interview, she knew she couldn’t stay away. The firestorm she had stirred online—those carefully timed posts, the emotional plea to the public—was finally paying off. She had forced him to finally come out and speak. And yet, as she stood there, watching him smear Allison’s name in fron

David stood outside the basement door, a lit cigarette between his fingers. The smoke curled lazily into the cool air, but his eyes stayed fixed on the ground. From below, faint but sharp cries echoed upward — the sound of pain and fear. It didn’t move him. His expression didn’t change, not even a flicker of pity. He took another slow drag, feeling the burn in his lungs. Then, he pulled his phone from his pocket. The screen lit up for a second before fading back to black, leaving behind his faint reflection in the glass. He studied it — the lines on his face, the tiredness in his eyes. He barely recognized himself. Was this really who he was now? His mind ran circles around the same thought. He had always believed himself to be smart — a man who could close the toughest business deals, sign contracts no one else could secure, solve problems in boardrooms that would make others sweat. In his world, he had always been brilliant, confident, unshakable. But when it came to his personal

David’s footsteps echoed as he descended the narrow staircase, with Christian following closely behind as Alfred led them to the basement. The moment they got there, they saw Sarah. She was tied to a wooden chair in the center of the room, her wrists bound tightly behind her back with thick rope. Her hair was messy, strands sticking to her sweaty face. There was a dark smudge on her cheek, and her clothes looked wrinkled, as if she had been struggling for hours. Her eyes lifted lazily at first, dull from exhaustion — but the second they locked with David’s cold, hardened gaze, something shifted. Fear. Real fear flickered across her face, making her grip the arms of the chair tightly, but then her gaze shifted past David to Christian standing behind him. Something quick and sharp instantly flashed through her eyes… David stepped forward, his voice cold. “Why did you try to hurt Claire? Who sent you?” Sarah’s lips curved into a thin, mocking smile. This time, there was no fear in h

Christian cleared his throat, his eyes fixed firmly on the chief officer. “We’re also looking for Allison. No one knows where she is right now.” The chief officer’s gaze lingered on him for a moment, slightly frowning. It was obvious he wasn’t entirely convinced. Before Christian could say more, Mathew stepped in. “It’s true,” Mathew said, his voice steady. “We really don’t know where she went. I hope she can be found as soon as possible so that all this will be cleared.” The chief officer let out a slow breath and gave a small nod. “I’ll handle the crowds outside then,” he said, glancing toward the door. “But if things get out of hand, we might have to move Ms. Emma and her daughter out of the hospital to a more secure location.” David, who had been leaning against the wall with his arms folded, finally straightened. “Thank you, Chief,” he said firmly, shaking hands with him before he left the room. For a few seconds, everyone was silent. Then David turned to Christian. “May

Mathew stood stiffly beside Emma and David, his fingers drumming restlessly against the wall. The air felt heavy, almost suffocating, as the last few seconds of the video Isabel had made played out on Mathew's phone while Emma and David watched. Emma’s hands flew to her mouth as she gasped in horror. Her face paled when she saw the part where Isabel slammed her forehead against the ground. David’s jaw clenched as his sharp eyes followed every frame of the video until the screen went black. No one spoke for a moment. Then, before any of them could gather their thoughts, they heard heavy footsteps approaching. Christian ran towards them, slightly out of breath. His sharp eyes swept over the phone in David's palm, immediately catching sight of the already-watched video. His gaze shifted from the screen to their faces. “You’ve already seen it.” David gave a slow, grim nod. “Mathew just showed it to us.” “I met a few media reporters outside just now,” Christian began. “The hospital
