(Tyler’s POV)

I closed our bedroom door as quietly as I could, letting Kate’s steady breathing anchor me for a last heartbeat. She was settled now, tucked under the blanket, Celia keeping close by. I had no excuse to linger. Duty called, and the weight of Marcus’s list hadn’t left my mind since last night.

The war room was dim except for the glow of a single lamp over the long table. Camerin was already there, waiting, the folded list between his hands. He didn’t speak until I dropped into the chair across from him.

“Do we act now,” he asked, “or wait?”

I pulled the paper toward me, flattening it out. The names stared back like ghosts. Some I’d expected wolves who had always carried the stink of doubt. Others cut deeper. Men who had sworn oaths beside me, bled beside me. If Marcus was right, betrayal was woven further into the pack than I’d wanted to admit.

“They’re not all guilty yet,” I said slowly. “Not until we’re sure. Marcus may have given names to buy himself more tim

161 (Kathryn’s POV) Celia practically bounced beside me as we walked through the town center, her arm looped through mine like we were sisters on a carefree outing instead of Luna and Gamma’s mate sneaking in a little sanity break. I tried to match her energy, but every step made me more conscious of my stomach, the new curve that seemed impossible to hide beneath my oversized sweater. “First stop, something that actually fits you,” Celia announced, tugging me toward a boutique with big glass windows. “Because if I see you tug that sweater down one more time, I’m going to set it on fire.” I laughed in spite of myself. “You wouldn’t dare.” Her grin was wicked. “Try me.” Inside, she pushed me into the fitting room with an armful of soft dresses, stretchy leggings, and tunics in colors I hadn’t dared to touch since arriving here. “Maternity chic, but make it Luna-level,” she said from outside the curtain. “Go on, let me see!” I rolled my eyes, but when I pulled the first dress ove

160 (Tyler’s POV) The hallway was hushed when I made my way up, my footsteps were heavy but measured. By the time I reached the door to our room, my wolf had settled enough that I didn’t need to force the anger down anymore, it was simply gone, replaced by a steady focus on what mattered. I opened the door quietly, finding Kate already inside. She was perched on the edge of the bed, hair loose around her shoulders, her posture straight but betraying a flicker of nervous energy like she knew I was coming, like she was bracing for me. I closed the door behind me and leaned back against it for a beat, watching her. “You could’ve told me,” I said finally, my voice low not a reprimand, but a truth spoken between us. Her gaze lifted, searching his face. “I didn’t think it was… dangerous. I just wanted to see. To understand what they’re becoming.” I crossed the room, every step controlled, until I stood in front of her. For a long moment, I simply looked down at her, letting her feel

159 (Third party POV) The training yard was quiet again, shadows of the trees stretching long across the dirt. The warriors had melted back into the dark, leaving only the pups behind. They slumped in a loose circle, bruised, scraped, and breathing hard. No one spoke at first. Their chests heaved with exhaustion, and the sting of Camerin’s words still hung in the air. Finally, the smallest boy Jonas, the one who’d tripped a warrior with his staff let out a breathless laugh. “I thought I was going to die out there.” The angry girl Maris snorted. “You were. Until you actually used that brain of yours.” She nudged him with her shoulder, not unkindly. A ripple of chuckles passed through the group. Even the defiant boy who’d been glaring at Tyler days earlier cracked a grin. “At least you didn’t scream like Taron.” “I didn’t scream,” Taron shot back, but his voice cracked and the others burst into laughter. The tension broke. They were still tired, still sore, but something had shif

158 (Camerin’s POV) I didn’t gather them in the main yard. They weren’t ready for that yet. Too many seasoned eyes would cut them down before they even started. No, I took them to the smaller field near the treeline, where mistakes could be made and corrected before pride got in the way. The pups shuffled in, restless and wary. Some still carried the defiance from earlier, others kept their eyes down like they expected punishment instead of training. All of them carried scars fresh or faded from Jaxson’s brand of “warrior-making.” I let the silence stretch until they started fidgeting. Then I spoke. “You’re not warriors. Not yet.” My voice carried low, firm. “Jaxson taught you how to die for him. I’ll teach you how to live for something greater.” A few heads lifted. That was enough. I broke them into pairs and set them sparring not to win, but to move, to learn their bodies. I watched how they struck, how they stumbled, how quickly they got back up. One boy crumpled with every hi

157 (Kathryn’s POV) The drills went on. Sweat glistened under the morning sun, wood clattered on wood, and Camerin’s voice barked corrections over the thud of footwork. I didn’t move from the fence. The pups were raw, rough, clumsy yet each of them was still standing. Still fighting to keep up. My stomach stayed tight. That girl with the sharp eyes met mine again, defiant as ever. The boy with shaky hands finally landed a solid block, pride flashing across his face before it faltered under the next blow. And the quiet one kept grinding forward, as if stubbornness alone would drag him to the finish. They were trying. Spirits clung to their bones like stubborn embers. But were those embers ours or remnants of Jaxson’s fire? The sound shifted. Boots crunching in the dirt behind me. The hairs along my arms lifted before I even turned. Tyler. He stood tall, shoulders squared, his gaze sweeping across the training field. The warriors around the pups straightened instinctively, making

156 (Tyler’s POV) The list lay in front of me, names scrawled in Marcus’s uneven hand. Wolves who had fought under Jaxson’s banner, now sitting in our cells. Some had bared their teeth when captured, but most… Most had dropped their heads the moment the battle ended. Camerin leaned over the table, his finger tapping the younger names. “Barely shifted. Pups. Jaxson pulled them in before they even understood what loyalty meant.” I scanned the list again, my chest tight. These weren’t the traitors who had schemed and plotted. They were kids, taken and molded by fear. To kill them would be easy. To live with it would not. I looked at Camerin. “Bring them to me. Not all at once small groups. I’ll see their eyes when they swear.” He gave a sharp nod. “And if they break?” My wolf stirred at the thought. “Then they’re dealt with. But if they bend… we give them a chance to stand in our ranks. Loyalty isn’t just inherited, it's chosen.” Part of me hated this, hated that Jaxson had stol
